The best nightclub...

Off the back of the other thread... what's the best nightclub you've ever been to?

(Disclaimer - my clubbing days were late 90s. Memories may be distorted by time. 😉)

Turnmills in Farringdon - Heavenly jukebox/heavenly social nights.

The Cross in king's cross. Three floors if I remember rightly catering for different tastes.

There are others but these are the main two I went to.

Also, my student union mid-week night at The Rocket - The Big Fish. Cheap drinks, epic dancing. 😁😁😁

Both Hull clubs circa 1990-92

Spiders. Especially New Years Eve. They'd play Fiesta by the Pogues at midnight, followed by New Years Day by U2. It was really emotional - it was like everyone in the club were best friends with each other.

Silhouette Seventies night on a Thursday. Just the best music.

I still go to Rock City but just for gigs, BRMC was the last band I saw there.

I went to the cinema tonight which is very near the old Black Orchard/ Isis night club. I was going to take a photo but it was too dark.

sadsadsady · 05/11/2018 12:55

Anyone used to go to the Kandi Klub in Bristol? At the Bierkeller, Thekla or Lakota? Just seen that George died last year.

CarrotandSwede · 05/11/2018 16:34

Koko in Camden.

FrankiesKnuckle · 05/11/2018 22:18

@CarrotandSwede surely you mean Camden Palace?!

NC4Now · 05/11/2018 22:27

@Billyandthesillies I rather shamefully ended up on the top floor of The Warehouse on Saturday. Ridiculous!

Clubs I loved in my youth:
The Music Factory in Sheffield - NY Sushi
Sankeys Soap in Manchester - Bugged Out
Cream in Liverpool
The Orbit in Leeds
The Leadmill was always a good night out too.

God there were so many. I loved clubbing. For a few years I’d go several times a week!

Defo hacienda, and 21 Piccadilly and discotech royale, all in Manchester. Liberty's in Sale and Corkers night spot in urmston!

RTFT · 05/11/2018 22:52

Oh and 42nd street!

NC4Now · 05/11/2018 23:24

I used to love dancing at The Ritz in Manchester. My gran used to dance there in the 1940s and she used to get this really whistful look in her eye when she asked if they still had the sprung dance floor. I loved it that she danced there in her teens and 20s like I did.

bananafish81 · 05/11/2018 23:26

Yes to discotheque royale in Manchester - Brutus Gold's Lovetrain on a Weds night. Remember lots of United players would usually come down after a midweek match

I think Lovetrain moved to the Ritz with its sprung dance floor after I moved down south...

bananafish81 · 05/11/2018 23:29

Popstarz at The Scala was a brilliant pop / indie night too

+1 for the boardwalk in Manchester - Dave Haslam Yellow

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 05/11/2018 23:30

I loved the Hacienda growing up. Used to go on a Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturday.

I felt very lucky to grow up in Manchester actually at the time I did. There was such a great music scene at the time I used to get the train into town with my friends and then we'd split and some would go to the Banshee or jilly's rockworld and others would go to the Hacienda.

We all used to meet up at the Ritz though with its bouncy dance floor.

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 05/11/2018 23:34

Also funkademia at the Attic was good. I think they still do Funkademia in Manchester I took a bus load of people for my 40th and the music was still amazing.

AlienBotanist · 06/11/2018 00:00

Discotheque Royale. I know the name, but it's wiped from my memory Sad

MumUnderTheMoon · 06/11/2018 00:03

Jillys and The ritz in Manchester. I loved the nightlife in Manchester I miss a good session of dancing like a crazy person and drinking cider from the tin.

MissionItsPossible · 06/11/2018 04:10

@bananafish81

Popstarz at The Scala was a brilliant pop / indie night too

I was more of a Ghetto frequenter :)

Sitranced · 06/11/2018 09:23

Moles in Bath was great for catching big bands before they made it big.

SushiMonster · 06/11/2018 09:48

The Leadmill in Sheffield and also FuzClub at the Sheffield Union.

Then I got into my house/techno.

Leeds had so many good nights - Technique & Asylum and also Dirty Disco (nights not actual clubs) were my absolute best nights out. So many memories. So much fun. Truly my formative years with my friends.

Mission, Mint Club and The Space were my fav clubs.

OMG just saw on google that Mint Club is closing after 20 years :-( How sad.

In London there is only one club that can ever be crowned king - THE END. Gutted when that shut.

In Ibiza the old Space as it used to be was top, and Amnesia still nails it (Marco Corolo on a Friday = love)

SushiMonster · 06/11/2018 09:50

There was also a good club that did foam parties in San Antonio but can't remembered the name

Categorically, no good club does foam parties.

SushiMonster · 06/11/2018 09:57

Oh god and how could I forget Back to Basics? Best times of my life.

joystir59 · 06/11/2018 10:05

Heaven. Charing Cross.

CarrotandSwede · 06/11/2018 10:12

CarrotandSwede surely you mean Camden Palace?

No I mean Koko. It’s not called Camden Palace anymore.

Guilty Pleasure nights were brilliant.

goodnessgrace · 06/11/2018 10:21
