The best nightclub...

Off the back of the other thread... what's the best nightclub you've ever been to?

(Disclaimer - my clubbing days were late 90s. Memories may be distorted by time. 😉)

Turnmills in Farringdon - Heavenly jukebox/heavenly social nights.

The Cross in king's cross. Three floors if I remember rightly catering for different tastes.

There are others but these are the main two I went to.

Also, my student union mid-week night at The Rocket - The Big Fish. Cheap drinks, epic dancing. 😁😁😁

Rock city must have changed in the mid 1990s as I used to go from about '96 onwards and rock night was Saturday then.

For anyone that enjoyed the early warehouse parties, Dirtbox, Shake 'n' Fingerpop here's a trip down memory lane. Enjoy Grin some great photos of the carnage.

Oh actuallt you mentioned it ibet you werre dancing next to me unless you were one od my friends.....

thereallifesaffy · 04/11/2018 18:32

Santana's in Norwich. Mid 80's. Indie stuff. Sweat running off the walls and ceiling

BillyAndTheSillies · 04/11/2018 19:08

The Warehouse in Preston. Had amazing nights there as a student.

Now, it would be Barbarella's in Tisno, Croatia. Huge open air club that's part of a festival I go to each year. Massive glitterball above the dance floor and open until 6am. Nothing better than clubbing until the sun comes up once in a while

sixtyeleven · 04/11/2018 19:17

subby, glasgow, harri and domenic. optimo could be a laugh but not a patch on subculture for the music

PackingSoap · 04/11/2018 19:19

The Hacienda.

Metalheadz at the Blue Note.

The End ... God, I loved that club. Warm, small, clean, wooden floor that I think might have been sprung (great to dance on), exceptional sound system.

There were others but I just can't remember now. It was over twenty years ago. But those are the three I will always remember.

Avegemitesandwich · 04/11/2018 19:24

Strawberry Moon in London.

Solus in Cardiff Student Union 😂

Kelly's in Southampton.

shecamefromgreece · 04/11/2018 19:40

Oh god so many
Hacienda
Holy city zoo
Paradise factory
Manto
Prague five
Home
Sankys
Cream
Gatecrasher at the arches in Sheffield
Back to basics in Leeds
Pre club drinks at dry and isobar.

Probably many many more I can't remember the name of!

AamdC · 04/11/2018 19:43

Iwas never that impressed by the hacienda tbh i was more of a rock/indie chick i lovef roxk world and the ritz

AamdC · 04/11/2018 19:43

Rock world .

bimbobaggins · 04/11/2018 19:48

My first proper night club was Tin Pan Alley in Glasgow. Naively wonder why it smelled of bleach. The wait in dunkin donuts for the bus home was an experience.
Felt proper cool when we moved up a league to the tunnel.

AlienBotanist · 04/11/2018 19:51

Grin I bet we have shared a dance floor AamdC!
Yes, think we went to brickhouse on a Tuesday or Wednesday, Ritz was Mondays. Rockworld was weekends. Did you do the all-nighters?

Cahu58 · 04/11/2018 20:05

Youreallabunchofbastards.
I grew up in Rockshots! Tuesday and Thursday nights! Met my first husband there!

WeeSausage · 04/11/2018 20:14

Glasgow Sub Club, and the Art School. And Black Rabbit Whorehouse. And various railway arches around Glasgow Wink

Crinkle77 · 04/11/2018 20:37

I loved the water party as Es Paradis in Ibiza. There was also a good club that did foam parties in San Antonio but can't remembered the name. Went to Manumission and had a shit time. Got my money stolen which was shut but thought it was over priced and over hyped.

shecamefromgreece · 04/11/2018 20:43

AamdC I was more into house music but I much preferred the downstairs of the hacienda it was much smaller and more intimate however the toilets did flood quite regularly down there!

shecamefromgreece · 04/11/2018 20:45

Flesh nights were always good there too. Mental but good!

stressedtiredbuthappy · 04/11/2018 21:16

Shecamefromgreece are you me?!?!
Although I was too young for the home, never went. Only got about 6 months out of the hacienda, I was 17 when it closed for good.

Did you go to the boardwalk?? I was there every Saturday night for 6 months at one point!!!

Avegemitesandwich · 04/11/2018 21:23

Also Coyote Ugly in New York New York in Vegas!

shecamefromgreece · 04/11/2018 21:25

Stressedtiredbuthappy yes I did it wasn't one of my favourites.
It brought back lots of memories trying to remember all my favourite clubs
There was another club on Oldham street just down from dry bar it was downstairs and used to be open after all the clubs closed can't remember for the life of me what it was called it used to have a night called the breakfast club which used to get going around 2/3 am. It wasn't around long I think someone got shot or something.
Another one was called something like the gatehouse/gateway it had a tiny bar at the top and then a big downstairs area can't remember what that one was called. It was good though.

shecamefromgreece · 04/11/2018 21:27

Stressed home was really good could be a bit moody sometimes. They used to do joint nights with the hacienda and there was a bus that ran betweeen the two. You can imagine the shenanigans that went on on that bus

Avegemitesandwich · 04/11/2018 21:29

Not exactly a nightclub, but did anyone ever go to The Church on a Sunday morning at The Forum in Kentish Town? Grin
