The best nightclub...

Off the back of the other thread... what's the best nightclub you've ever been to?

(Disclaimer - my clubbing days were late 90s. Memories may be distorted by time. 😉)

Turnmills in Farringdon - Heavenly jukebox/heavenly social nights.

The Cross in king's cross. Three floors if I remember rightly catering for different tastes.

There are others but these are the main two I went to.

Also, my student union mid-week night at The Rocket - The Big Fish. Cheap drinks, epic dancing. 😁😁😁

Plymouth Oz/Warehouse, Scream and Cultural Vibes nights were amazing. Went back in the building a few weeks ago as it has been bought by God TV. Gave me goosebumps to go in there again. I certainly had semi-religious experiences there back in the day!

IWantMyHatBack · 03/11/2018 22:10

Oh god, I'd bleached collide-a-scope from my brain. Afterskool was far superior Grin

The Camel Club in Huddersfield, loved it because it looked like the Cantina in Mos Eisley (the bar from Star Wars), and it's many themed nights in the late 90s/early 00s, such as where a flip of a coin might get you another round of drinks for free!

honourable mention for The Irish

Yes! I’ve put it in the worst nightclub thread. But actually it isn’t. It was terrible yet brilliant.

TheGonnagle · 03/11/2018 22:17

Que club, particularly Atomic Jam
House of God
Snobs
Medicine Bar

Good times.......

CalmConfident · 03/11/2018 22:19

furry remember they always used to play the Irish Rover at the end of the night Grin

ForalltheSaints · 03/11/2018 22:19

Eden in Ibiza- went in 2001.

Elzbells · 03/11/2018 22:21

Bagleys and then we discovered Turnmills, but only went once as on our way home some guy got fatally stabbed in the tube station.

We were first on scene and my clubbing days ended quite soon after that.

I loved the marquee in the early 90s. Also labyrinth, gardening club, legends, oh god, I miss it all so much!! In my trainers and white gloves (tragically) whistle and hotpants... Loved happy hardcore and used to dance on the front of the stage, never paid to get in, some brilliant years walking home wide eyed through tourist London at 8am in mad clubbing gear with nice families steering there children away Grin now I am the nice families... I do miss clubbing but feel I'm too fat really now to dance like that. Someone could make a fortune with a throwback club for over 40s...

violeticecream · 03/11/2018 22:33

Wag club was brilliant definitely the best. Also Raw And delirium at heaven. After that came ....
Future
Spectrum
Trip
Limelight
Quiet storm
and many more
I miss those days, they were the best of times

WowserBowser · 03/11/2018 22:38

Rosies - Chester
Legends - Northampton

Haircutdilemma · 03/11/2018 22:39

Wigan Pier in the early 2000s absolutely loved the place. It was a dive, feet stuck to the floor but the atmosphere was amazing.

@OutComeTheWolves It's brought back a load of fab memories. Smile

Leadmill in Sheffield - awesome indie night on Saturdays. Around 2000-2001.

Casbah in Sheffield - awful place really but had some hilarious nights there. Same era.

Bass Clef and The Cookie Club in Northampton circa 1998 - did me some underage drinking and lots of snogging in there. Smirnoff miles and Marlborough lights. Fishnets and pvc. Nu-metal and goth.

The Lounge Northampton around the same time - a more genteel indie affair.

LoadsaBlusher · 03/11/2018 22:50

The Arches in Glasgow - loved most nights in there , Colours , Inside Out
The venue was so basic , brick walls , stone floors but the atmosphere and music / sounds were amazing
Brilliant memories of coming out at 3/4 am and everyone still buzzing under the Arches outside ...

Was a bit of an Ibiza clubber too
Loved Manumission in 1999 that was when they had djs in the pool platform in the middle of the club and strange goings on up on the podiums

Space terrace in Ibiza too - great vibes
So many of these places now shut ...Sad

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/11/2018 22:56

Ku Club in Sunderland , brilliant music
Heebiejeebies and Krazy House in Liverpool - saw some great bands in the latter.

Worriedmum99 · 03/11/2018 22:57

Very early 80s for me, Lyceum (first went when I was 14!), Busby’s near Tottenham Court Road, a couple down the Old Kent Road, but can’t remember the names now. All soul music at the time.

thisonebreath · 03/11/2018 22:58

@Kwackerly As much as I love the idea of going clubbing again, I'd be fucked after half an hour. Grin And probably be fretting about having to get up early/be responsible etc. No more getting home at 8am and sacking off the rest of the day.

Another vote for Eden Ibiza 2001

Twinning1 · 03/11/2018 23:06

Po na na at Hammersmith palais in my student days. Loved ministry of sound too.

Twinning1 · 03/11/2018 23:10

Ooooh and crazy larrys down kings road. Had some wonderful times there! Creamfields too, can’t beat that. Listening to tiesto was a highlight!

FrankensteinsKnuckleDuster · 03/11/2018 23:14

Club UK, Bagleys, The cross, Turnmills, Camden Palace, Trade, Fridge, Mass, Astoria..... i could go on - most sadly gone now.
Went to a Peach reunion at Camden Palace (Koko) a while back - man it was good! The atmosphere just fucking blew my mind!

Those were the days.... if only I could remember them, damn disco biscuits....

SinisterBumFacedCat · 03/11/2018 23:17

Popscene at the Astoria on Friday. Lovely indie club.

Chosennonetosurvivethenight · 03/11/2018 23:19
