The worst nightclub you've ever been to?

Ziggys, York c.1999. An old Regency townhouse that you would swear was still lived in. Sofas, scatter cushions, and chintz wallpaper on the walls - chintz wallpaper that actually started sweating by 10pm. The main dance floor was down in the basement with only one narrow staircase for access and which must have breached every single health and safety law known to man.

We only kept going because it was two WKD's for £1.50 on student night.

You forgot the infamous "Juicy Lucy"! Double vodka, blue bols and something else topped up with OJ and lemonade. Always made the vomit pools a special shade of green

I’m puzzled as to why so many people are saying The Razz/Blue Angel?! The Razz should be on a thread about the best clubs!

I mean sure, it stank of sick, your feet came home black and I’m fairly certain that rats pissed all over the bottles but dancing on the benches around the edges to Chesney Hawkes has to count for something, right?! Loved that place. Never had a bad night there.

The one in Reading was called Utopia I think, that was a good night!

Hammersmith Palais was a meat market but £10 entry and drinks free all night? What’s not to like?!

Kudos in Watford was pretty awful.

But winning the prize for me was Winkers in the Chalfonts. I’ve never walked into a club with full flurouescent lights on. Not sure it counts as club though. Anyway, it was just awful. The Orchard in nearby Wycombe wasn’t much better. But it was better Wink

That was supposed to be for scaredofthecity. Loved Jesters

Kwackerly · 03/11/2018 22:21

Bon Bonnie's! I remember that, total meat market. I pulled some horrors there. When I heard the name I immediately got 'two can play that game' in my head -Grin I also went to the venue in new cross- but not the top floor full of indie boys- but more likely to be found in central London. I hated the Astoria but seemed to end up there at 3am every Saturday night... smell of amyl nitrate and stumbling around in the blackness searching for rizla Wink

Infernos - 40 min queue for the toilets

tissuesosoft · 03/11/2018 22:25

tissuesosoft · 03/11/2018 22:25

Worsethingshappenatsea · 03/11/2018 22:32

The Garry Owen in Birmingham

NewYoiker · 03/11/2018 22:33

@78Indigo the tiv!! Thought I was the only one! My grandparents used to live a stones throw away used to mainline vodka and then stumble to theirs trying to pretend i wasn't drunk

Worsethingshappenatsea · 03/11/2018 22:34

And Snobs is still there - DS goes there now 🤣

MrsMoastyToasty · 03/11/2018 22:38

The Granary in Bristol (1980s). The floor was so sticky that it was like dancing on chewing gum and the Lois were always overflowing.

MrsMoastyToasty · 03/11/2018 22:39

Loos not Lois.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 03/11/2018 22:41

A very dodgy nightclub called Tracks, in the dodgy part of Washington DC, in the early 90's. Saw someone get punched to the floor, fall as straight as a plank of wood and start trembling. Police/ambulance were called - it didn't look good. Never went back!

LostontheWestway · 03/11/2018 22:54

I lived in Calais for a while and there was this hideous club called 555 (cinq cinq cinq - or wank wank wank as we all called it). It was awful - leopard print carpet with trodden in fag ash and beer.
It was about the only place to go though.

78Indigo · 03/11/2018 23:18

Nope, not only you! Many good (and bad) memories from the Tiv, and Down Town, and some place called the lodge, cant remember exactly where though

RunningOnMusic · 03/11/2018 23:19

Early 90's. Ritzy's and Peppermint Park. Norwich. Cringy. That is all.

mostdays · 03/11/2018 23:37

Razzles/ Palm Beach in Wisbech in the 90s. If you never experienced it I can't possibly do it justice. If you ever went you don't need me to say anything.

TinselAngel · 04/11/2018 00:25

@BaileysOnToast you say that like it's a bad thing....

I used to wear converse to go clubbing back in the day and they were often covered in a black sludge, similar to how I'd imagine they'd be if I'd been down a mine.

The shittest club in Liverpool in the 90's was The Cavern. (Dreadful townie meat market), and the best by far was the Krazy House (even if I used to fall down the sludgy stairs in said converse), despite PP saying the opposite.

CaribooSasquatch · 04/11/2018 01:53

Pericombobulations You sound like you were at Bradford at the same time as me. I wonder if I know you? Rio's was my preferred haunt but I have plenty of vague memories from Pickwicks too. Good times!

luckybird07 · 04/11/2018 02:37

JoyceDivision · 04/11/2018 02:49

Teddy's: the place to be in Withernsea

When to a friend's caravan, we all trotted off for a big night out: the crappiest excuse of a disco,so thought we danced roundour coats to keep them safe and a blessed keep still leaned in between us and tried to pick one up and walk off with it!!Shock

JoyceDivision · 04/11/2018 02:49

So rough not so thought!!

user1473460538 · 04/11/2018 02:50
