And if so, what are their jobs? After a couple of unexpected surgeries we decided that it was high time for our sheltie to contribute to the family purse.

His first business venture was selling artisan wood chips chewed from locally foraged wood. Unfortunately this didn’t take off. He was keen to dip a paw into dog modelling but despite his luxurious coat his lack of bottom teeth really held him back. His latest foray is a late night discotheque that he operates out of the bathroom after we have gone to bed. Too soon to know how this venture is going to work out long term.

My cat is unemployed on benefits atm... bad attitude though so I expect the job hunt for her will be tough...
My dogs however are quite helpful 1 is a stick gatherer, clearly he is a builder though not very good and the other is a ufc fighter/bodyguard! must have a good savings account as im yet to see any money from them

Niceforwhat · 30/10/2018 19:53

My ddog is currently running for president, he has staked his claim on 75% of the kingdom by leaving his special yellow mark and we are currently battling over Washington DC (my bedroom)

He is also on neighbourhood watch but is a bit of a curtain twitcher and runs away to hide if confronted

Rocky the cat - side eye executive, food gobbler and interruptive meowing director with added utter tuxedo cuteness

Lily the cat - skittish behind the sofa operative, mouse endower with added dribbling technique while being stroked. Grin

Santaisgettingbusy · 30/10/2018 20:10

My ddogs are the toilet roll holder checkers, they stand on alert incase I need more.

Dcat is Queen of the hedgerows and all who reside therein. She is also mistress of the back door and our furry overlord. Working for a living is beneath her but she is sick makingly generous with her hunting spoils.

MargiaStevens · 30/10/2018 20:49

The hamster is gainfully employed as a room fragrancing expert. Even while asleep, his own unique farts perfume the room in his own inimitable style!

Ylvamoon · 30/10/2018 20:50

My boy (dog) is definitely employed by Air Wick Product Development, specialising in unusual natural fragrances.
So far he has (unsuccessfully) tested the revolutionary body self diffuser. Which helps improving the air quality by letting special pre treated compressed air leave the body. (The system is highly classified ...)
He has also experimented with roll in tihs. It is designed as stick on lubricant for fabrics and fur, giving off the most natural of natural fragrances. But as far as I can tell, this product may not take off. It has been reported, that it has a rather strange side effect that is very dangerous to the test subjects. It attracts the unwanted attention of humans, resulting in strenuous activity, and a bath!

MsNowtyBach · 30/10/2018 20:57

Our cat is a decorator.

An only do paw print designs though.

April2020mom · 30/10/2018 21:44

My cat guards the apartment when we are out of it. That’s her job. She is also responsible for having leftovers from dinner.

Tinkobell · 30/10/2018 21:50

dDog and DCat are both first class Fart Detectives. They ALWAYS know who dunnit and look equally depressed and disgusted! 😁

goforkyourself · 30/10/2018 22:19

Big dog is Chief Shoe Collector and washer upper.

Little dog is communications Director. Her messages are so loud and clear that big dog has become redundant as a guard dog.

No chance the Halloween balloons are getting away with anything.

Suspect little dog may sneak out at night and party though, as she is very reluctant to leave her bed in the morning.

Pasithea · 30/10/2018 23:02

Well. The horses ensure that we do not leave any extra money lying around. The dogs collect all the local fleas so none of the other dogs in the vicinity get them. Very considerate The chickens either lay 50 eggs a week or none and ensure our vegetables aren’t left too long in the veg plot.

Wouldn’t ever part with them though.

AndromedaPerseus · 30/10/2018 23:36

DCat is my personal therapist she can make the worst days better

Babyroobs · 31/10/2018 00:02

My working cocker spaniel is a stunt artist , his tricks include swallowing whole socks and regurgitating them a couple of days later.

Threeminis · 31/10/2018 00:14

Dcat doesn't need to work. He is royalty didn't you know?

Milo intercepts and shreds all post saving us the bother of reading any of it. Also supervises and guards us and makes sure we don't kiss or cuddle each other. Keeps us fit by making us get out and walk and play ball twice a day.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 31/10/2018 07:26

Discat is Official Sniffer to the Disrespectful household. Everything possibly edible or potable must be sniffed before being consumed. He also tests gravity every day by lying on stairs. That way, if I trip over him and fall, he is sure that I will reach the bottom of the stairs and not float away due to lack of gravitational pull.

He is also a helpful aide memoire about being fed in case I have forgotten that he need to be fed eleventy billion times a day and if his food bowl is less than full it is a national emergency and must be dealt with immediately.

Finally, he helps keep Sainsbury's deliverymen employed by going through quantities of litter so that they must visit us with topups every month.

Kahlua4me · 31/10/2018 09:02

My dog has full and rewarding career of ensuring our garden stays squirrel free at all times. He sits on guard whenever I am in our office ready to bark if anything comes close. Mind you he is not very good at chasing them and tends to stop if he gets too near!

Other minor jobs include dc entertainer, hot water bottle and visitor alarm.

Guard dog, foot warmer, companion, confidaunt, maker of friends, giver of excersice, you have to go out whatever the weather! Mine also used to assist with digging in the garden, usually just after I have planted something, she would help me dig it up again.

Kahlua4me · 31/10/2018 09:06

LaurieFairyCake what breed is your dog? Looks identical to mine!

Ours is a Westie Scottie cross...

Claudiawinksatmen · 31/10/2018 09:35

Both Wink dogs work long shifts as security guards. They are however thinking of reporting me to HSE for unsafe practices as they need to balance precariously on a stool to view the garden fully due to the innapropriate window height. Mr wink dog is working hard on his personal development and training to be a ninja, he has mastered some aspects well, I only have to glance briefly away when walking and he has silently dissapeared.

Ilikeknitting · 31/10/2018 10:11

This is Avon and Penny. Avon (the fat one) is my furry hot water bottle, she does an excellent job, couldn’t be better in fact. Even in the heat of this summer she was still radiating her heat!
Penny the little one has been working on window dressing, by running up the curtains, but also does some part time quality control on my yarn when I’m knitting.

Dcat is also very proficient in empty box assessment and evaluation. She explores fearlessly and test sits in each. Dedication doesn't come close.
