Are your pets employed?

And if so, what are their jobs? After a couple of unexpected surgeries we decided that it was high time for our sheltie to contribute to the family purse.

His first business venture was selling artisan wood chips chewed from locally foraged wood. Unfortunately this didn’t take off. He was keen to dip a paw into dog modelling but despite his luxurious coat his lack of bottom teeth really held him back. His latest foray is a late night discotheque that he operates out of the bathroom after we have gone to bed. Too soon to know how this venture is going to work out long term.

DDog (Dasch x JRT) and the Siamese are both self-employed ratters/mousers and do a very good job Grin.
DaftCat is indoor only due to being a bit thick so his job is catching flies and spiders!

LadyL0velyLocks · 28/10/2018 12:10

Belissimiaow you must be a bunch of light eaters then Grin

chickhonhoneybabe this position is already filled in our household by 10m DS.

My imaginary ones are all benefit scroungers I'm afraid 😳

LadyDeadpool · 28/10/2018 12:22

One of my rats is currently employed in the business of zombie attack preparedness - this mostly involves stashing piles of food all around the bedroom for use in case of emergencies. He just needs to learn that DHs pillows are not the best place for this.

LongSummerDays · 28/10/2018 12:28

I had a cat who was a lifeguard. Every time I had a bath, there he was laying on the side of it with his tail in the water.

Brigante9 · 28/10/2018 12:31

Mine are the Guardians of the Fish and keep the heron away. Cheeky bastard tries it on most days. They are also personal bodyguards, keeping other dogs away from me whilst we carry out our personal daily training regime. Mostly, however, they are Bed Testers Extraordinaire.

DDog 1 is a security guard and delivery service combined. She mainly delivers game, but will also cater for shoes, socks, gloves.
She is also a semi professional singer. Also occasionally a footrest.

DDog 2 is also learning the delivery ropes. She also has a promising career as a dancer.
She isn't that interested in security but is an excellent timekeeper and can always be found gazing accusingly at us at mealtimes. She is also very interested in developing her skills as a wine taster.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 28/10/2018 12:52

DCat3 is the town crier. She runs at full pelt into the house to tell us all the local happenings several times a day.

Sadly we don't speak cat so we aren't sure what's occurring.

ALemonyPea · 28/10/2018 13:27

My cat is currently employed by MRP (mouse relocation project) where he catches refugee mice from fields at the end of the garden the and sets them free in the warmth of our house.

OneStepMoreFun · 28/10/2018 13:32

DCat is a good pot and plate scourer. He's a great night nurse, snuggling anyone with a fever or low mood. Moonlights as a hair stylist and by day is a security guard. He also enjoys literacy support, helping hold and chew pens while you write and putting a guiding paw over any word you are trying to read.

Two of my cats barely leave the sofa but one of them goes to work in the morning and comes home at night . Not sure what he does but he is tired . 😂

maddiemookins16mum · 28/10/2018 13:57

My two are gainfully employed as
Bedwarmer 1 and Bedwarmer 2.
They also work nights as Cuddlegiver Extraordinaire and Purrmonster.

I flippin loves them.

GeoEm · 28/10/2018 13:59

My boy could always try some modelling to pay the bills. 😋

Alarm clocks.

Cat for middle of night meowing to wake us up as he is sad we might be missing out on stuff. And he might want to go out. Or actually no it's too cold.

5am from the dog so we aren't late for anything. Like her breakfast.

😴

namechanger0987 · 28/10/2018 14:33

Our Labrador is the street security guard. She give a a little woof to anyone who enters.
She also thoroughly sniffs the whole house after someone has been in to check that they were legit!
And she opens all the post for us, this is definitely not her forte though!

TillyVonMilly · 28/10/2018 14:36

I have two full time furniture weights, sofas and beds are specialities
One is a part time food taster/lapdog while the other moonlights as a sock/slipper snarfer. Both very hardworking and loved Grin

Bigbagofnerves · 28/10/2018 14:43

My cat is a carpet fitter. She deftly attempts to remove the current carpet with her sodding claws, and also moults enough fur to re-carpet the entire house.

poppy196 · 28/10/2018 14:46

My staffy so needs a job , if he could be arsed to get off the sofa .
We often watch the border force programmes and think he would do a grand job at hunting out money , drugs or alcohol .
Just needs to get off sofa first .

SophoclesTheFox · 28/10/2018 14:53

One of my dogs has recently got in to British Military Fitness. She’s very motivational on the hill sprints. The other is a con artist and thief. Recent successes include liberating a packet of Jacobs Cream Crackers from a buggy, and disappearing a sandwich from a child’s plate in the pub when it was looking the other way Blush

The cat works for BT (I assume- he hops over the wall into their office every morning. He hasn’t told me what he does and I’ve certainly never seen a wage packet).

Our Guinea Pig is a freelance columnist for the Daily Mail. I suspected as much when I heard her chuntering in her cage about bloody foreigners and Brexit not coming soon enough.
