Bill Oddie walked past me on a train platform once, and I was in a coffee shop at the same time as Russel T Davies when my eldest was small (and spotted him).

ShatnersWig · 24/10/2018 22:19

Don't even know who any of those are, so I must be incredibly out of touch (although as I don't have kids the CBBC one isn't surprising).

Yes, I've met lots, but mostly because I work in theatre and also have some friends who used to work at the BBC so would often socialise with them and met some well known names then. Most of them have been truly lovely, and I've talked about them on similar threads over the years.

It would be a bit of an extensive list, so I'll just say the loveliest were Angela Lansbury, Judi Dench and Michael Winner. Only one who was a complete miserable tosser was Jeremy Irons.

ShirleyPhallus · 24/10/2018 22:20

I shagged an England footballer when I was about 21 Grin

Prince Charles once told me I was the most important person in the room (obviously I wasn’t).

Margaret Thatcher complimented my shoes.

Sandy Toksvig judged our school bake sale and chose DD’s cake as winner.

Jason’s Donovan touched my bum.

A580Hojas · 24/10/2018 22:36

Yes I've met loads of celebrities through friends and my work and am/have been friends with quite a few household names.

MsAwesomeDragon · 24/10/2018 22:37

I used to play out with Ant mcpartlin (from Ant and Dec). He wasn't famous at that point though, we were about 11.

Alan Davies (from QI) has been at the same soft play with his kids as I go to with mine. That's happened a few times, there are always a load of parents trying to be cool and not stare.

mnahmnah · 24/10/2018 22:38

Honeyroar · 24/10/2018 22:38

Mine is an almost met....my dad was in the army and we lived in Hong Kong for 2 years. The furthest I went by myself was a short bus ride to the local market.

One Sunday I was going to go, but changed my mind. That day Wham did a walk-around that market! I was gutted!

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/10/2018 22:41

I stood next to Marc Almond in a card shop in Southport in the early 1980's.

I stood next to Bamber Gascoigne in the National Gallery.

Zammo from Grange Hill was at my 18th birthday party.

DonnaDarko · 24/10/2018 22:42

Me and oh once shared a lift in m&s in the Trafford centre with the actor John Thompson we both tried not to stare and shouted do you know who that is at each other when he got our of the lift.

On Monday night we were all in pizza express in Blackpool dd(11) was sat on one side of the table with oh ds was sat next to me, dd was being very giddy and asked me to go to the toilet with her. Once there she nearly exploded telling me that the girl on the next table with her family was one of her favourite vloggers and she was going to ask her for a photo, I didn't have a clue who she was dd got her photo declared it the best day of her life, I googled Rosie McClellan when we got home she's pretty big in America but still don't really know who she is.

inlectorecumbit · 24/10/2018 22:47

I was at a funeral a few years ago of an ex well known football manager. The congregation was full of past and present footballers and managers and a few TV presenters as well.
I tried my hardest not to gawp at them and probably failed as l kept nudging DH to ask who so and so was Grin
Oh and l was on TV as l walked out of the crematorium ( does that make me a celebrity too)

PavlovianLunge · 24/10/2018 22:48

I walked past Dame Judi Dench at Heathrow airport a few years ago. She looked immaculate and really petite, though she was with a towering young man.

GhoulishGremlins · 24/10/2018 22:50

Judi Dench is someone I can't ever imagine looking anything but flawless.

Mine are Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Esther Rantzen , Robbie Coltrane and Kirsty Wark. Oh and I said hello to Maxine Peake whilst waiting in the lobby of our holiday apartment because I thought I knew her.

Loyaultemelie · 24/10/2018 22:56

Eddie Irvine (arse)

Stayed in the same hotel as Bob Geldof, he said hello to Dd1.

Two blokes from Game of Thrones but neither DH nor I watch it so we just chatted away and Dh bought them a drink it was only after one of the people we were out with said don't you know who that was? (Still can't remember who they are)

James Nesbitt (lovely)
