Boris nearly knocked me over cycling on the pavement....

RottenApple · 25/10/2018 16:52

Sir Ian McKellan walking down the street in SoHo. I'm gutted I didn't have the balls to speak to him.

I walked slap bang into Alec Baldwin in New York.

I chatted Morgan Freeman at a bar (he was sat at the bar and I was waiting to be served) that voice! He was lovely

LizzieBennettDarcy · 25/10/2018 16:58

Love the Michael Winner story, my dad used to love his food column in the Sunday Times and he was genuinely gutted when he died.

LightDrizzle · 25/10/2018 17:08

That’s such a lovely story about Michael Winner. Really touching.

Arrivederci · 25/10/2018 17:38

Ed Balls came to my school when he was still important to film us discussing our post-exam plans (we lived in an under-privileged area). A student said he wanted to study travel and tourism and Ed laughed at him

CMOTDibbler · 25/10/2018 17:42

Prince Phillip told me about his colonoscopy in very basic words when I was doing a presentation to him and had been instructed to keep it clean...

SilentBob · 25/10/2018 18:00

Made a brew for Bobby Ball. Ohhhhh yes, THE Bobbly Ball!

I also Said hi to Dierdre from Coronation Street in the Trafford centre- genuinely thought I knew her irl but couldn't place her.

Family member is ex premier league footballer and was an assistant manager for a time.

His wedding was 'interesting' ...lots of WAGs and tanned footballers in dark suits wearing sunglasses😂

singmysongtoo · 25/10/2018 18:14

@ShatnersWig that is such a lovely story, I hope some of his friends and relatives are reading.

EastMidsGPs · 25/10/2018 18:16

Oh and for nearly met does this count?
In our nearby town there's a recently completed art work of the heads of Paul Smith, Richard Beckinsale and Edwin Starr, twice weekly I will walk past this ... so sort of 'meet them'

LoudestRoar · 25/10/2018 18:31

I ran past, and then doubled back to say hello to Sir Ian McKellan while I was doing this year's London Marathon

ZombiePrincessIsADeadUnicorn · 25/10/2018 18:35

Ashley & Jordan Banjo, Perry and the rest of the boys, was on secret street crew, I did the worm see saw, Kimberly Wyat, she almost broke my hip hurt my hip trying to get me to strut across the stage, Adam Garcia, I got a proper cuddle from him, he is a beautiful man inside and out, Davina McCall. Got to meat all these from doing secret street crew. GrinWink

bigbluebus · 25/10/2018 18:41

Quite a few but I'm not going to name them. My DH works for a charity and they have run a number of fundraising events over the years which have involved well known actors and celebrity chefs. I have also been introduced to a minor member of the royal family. If I'm honest I can't get excited about it - they're just people doing a job!

Pavlova31 · 25/10/2018 18:46

Sat at a random table at Caffè Nero in Chester a few years ago and suddenly realised the guy on the next table , sat right alongside me was Ian McKellen . He initiated a brief chat whilst tapping away on his laptop and seemed a very nice person.
Ballet Dancers Darcey Bussell , Carlos Acosta and Vadim Muntagirov. By chance near theatres they were performing in ( big ballet fan).
All three were pleasant and nice to have a brief chat with.

ForalltheSaints · 25/10/2018 18:47

The list is a bit longer than others which is perhaps a recognition of living for most of my life in London, so I will spare you the list.

In previous houses I have lived in, a Lord, two MPs and an Archbishop have visited.

WindyWednesday · 25/10/2018 18:52

Noel Edmunds.
Derek Fowlds. (Basil Brush or Heartbeat depending on how old you are). He came to see me (can’t say why) he was lovely. He was wanting to leave heartbeat and they were trying to get him back. I said, my mum loved him in heartbeat and said he was the best thing about it. He seemed to like that. Then we saw he’d gone back to heartbeat in a different role. I always felt guilty about that.
Amanda Barrie. Waiting for a train
The boy from my family and death in paradise at Heathrow security

Plenty more! I’ll have to think.

Cheesymonster · 25/10/2018 19:07

Prince Edward, he was very nice. Also shared a lift with a Paul McKenna.

My dad has danced with the queen and met many of the major royals. Cousin was pally with Prince Andrew at one point.

My uncle met Sting and said he was very unfriendly.

DH, a police officer, has nicked Jermaine Defoe (huge twat) and Carlton Cole (very nice) for driving offences.

Shatnerswig loved your Michael winner story, thank you for sharing.

GlassOuijan · 25/10/2018 19:24

I've met Michael Sheen and Ray Winstone, both utterly lovely. Noel Edmonds, a self important twat.

Had a brief romantic liaison a few shags with a pop star shortly before he became famous.Wink

primoestate · 25/10/2018 19:26

@Honeyroar . Have to agree,Martin Clunes is totally lovely. Nicest star I've ever met.
Rudest were Wendy Craig and Keith Barron (horrible man).

HildaZelda · 25/10/2018 19:59

@JakePeraltaNYPD, aw I love Danny John Jules. Delighted to hear he was nice :)

Dbrook · 25/10/2018 20:58

I’ve seen a good few in London over the years. Best spots were probably Rihanna in Selfridges, Ralph Fiennes at Heathrow, Clint Eastwood in the pub, Joanna Lumley on the Victoria line (twice!), Gordon Brown and Bill Gates at an event, and David Schimmer just on the street somewhere. Oh and Ricky Gervais jogging on Hampstead Heath whilst punching the air David Brent style Grin

puzzledlady · 25/10/2018 22:04

i used to work in a hotel so ive met loads - the most famous is probably Mohammad Ali and Henry Kissinger. Quite a few singers/popstars. Clinton twice. A celebrity once asked me if i did 'extras' on the side of my hotel job! Blush

EstuaryBird · 26/10/2018 12:57

@ProfYaffle.....it was 2016 when he was here with AC/DC...but I love him anyway Grin. I'll call him the safer, happier Axl, he was very nice..

Binglejellies · 26/10/2018 14:18
