Destiny's child in top shop Oxford circus almost 20 years ago! Still gutted that I actually didn't go up too them . Had eye contact with Beyonce though.

I (literally) walked into Germaine Greer outside Boots once.

I also picked the same restaurant as Stephen Hawking for Valentines Day one year. He was flirting with the waitresses not sure what his partner thought about that!

MawkishTwaddle · 25/10/2018 14:12

I love that Michael Winner story.

SnappyLongStocking · 25/10/2018 14:19

Went to primary school with Danny dyer and secondary with Jimmy Akingbola.

Went to drama class with paloma faith.

Phil vickery used to come into my shop (he’s a diamond!)

Queued behind Richard Hammond at a self service checkout in Morrisons and did the obligatory eye roll when he had to wait for help.

Briefly met michael McIntyre, Russell brand, James Corden, Matt Horne, nick grimshaw and Noel fielding.

Bumped into David Cameron (well he bumped into me!) when he was jogging in st James Park (with about 8 minders)

I got once got chatted up in Nottingham by the evil doctor from Eastenders, the one who was married to Zainab.

Burlea · 25/10/2018 14:32

In my twenties, I saw a lady coming out of the Arndale centre in Manchester I thought she was a friend of my mums, I asked how she was and how is her family we spoke for 2-3 minutes. For the life of me I couldn't remember her name. When I got home told mum it was one of her mates. When I described this lady mum had no idea.
4 weeks later Coronation Street came on the telly(we hardly watched it) Betty who made hotpot came on and I said that's who I talked too. She wasn't mums mate.
Don't know her name in real life.

ForMaMaMaTheBelleTolls · 25/10/2018 14:32

When I was a waitress I served Dennis Waterman & Patrick Mower their lunch. It was before Patrick was in Emmerdale so I didn't know who he was (my boss told me)
Walked past Roger Federer in Basel

rosettesforjill · 25/10/2018 14:39

Ooh and the morning after our wedding we got into the lift with Usain Bolt. I didn't realise it was him until we were in the breakfast bit and it started to dawn on me. I didn't think he looked impressive enough!

crochetmonkey74 · 25/10/2018 14:39

I saw Rupert Everett in London- have never really considered him much but in real life he looks INCREDIBLE. He's so handsome, and he is also really tall- there were 3 of us who all just stared at him- and then later agreed that his appearances on tv do not reflect how amazingly good looking he is in real life.

Yoksha · 25/10/2018 14:43

I too loved the Micheal Winner story. Warmed my cockles it did.Smile

@Elderflower14

Ahh, small world! Grin

TheVonTrappFamilySwingers · 25/10/2018 16:09

Well it's a bit of a hazard living in London but you do see plenty of celebs walking around or when in a bar -John Craven (eyed me up outside the BBC); Martin Clunes (we all turned around to see him as friend said it was George Clooney, poor Martin faced 4 disappointed women); one of A-ha (not Morten though - had a few drinks with them); Hugh Grant; Charlie Watts; John Goodman (from Roseanne); Michael Sheen; Kelly Jones from Stereophonics (lovely looking guy but had enormous platform shoes as he is very short); Brad Pitt (looked shorter than I expected); Andrew Lloyd Webber; Salman Rushdie and Ruby Wax and Elle McPherson (all eating in the same restaurant at the same time but not together); John Cleese; all of Skid Row in a record shop (showing my age); Helen Baxendale; Helena Bonham Carter (looks amazing); Norman Cook (this may out me but we went to a record fair together); and not in London but I bloody well ran into Boris Johnson in Venice last year in a church (so I couldn't swear at him) but I did force him to say hello and have a chat.

TheVonTrappFamilySwingers · 25/10/2018 16:12

Oh and James Corden in New York. There's likely more but I have forgotten....

yawning801 · 25/10/2018 16:15

Been in the same room as Ian McKellen, if that counts? Grin
Nearly knocked over Candice Brown at the train station (poor thing).
My DGM has met various celebrities over the years, inc. Charles and Diana (on separate occasions).
Other DGM ended up talking to George Clooney about raffle tickets Confused

sunshineandshowers21 · 25/10/2018 16:19

i went to the same school, in the same year, as jack o’connell.

JosellaPlayton · 25/10/2018 16:20

The actor that plays Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones was skateboarding down my street as I took the bins out this weekend. Other spots this year include being stuck in traffic next to Taylor Swift and DH reckons he spotted Kanye West in the supermarket (Whole Foods in Chicago).

ElspethFlashman · 25/10/2018 16:22

I met Patsy Kensit. Go Me! Grin

I liked her a lot actually! She was awesome.

Coconutspongexo · 25/10/2018 16:23

I went on a few dates with a prem league footballer.

My friend is also a VS model (nothing like that to make you feel ugly)

mamaduckbone · 25/10/2018 16:32

I’ve been to Lauren Laverne’s flat and eaten an ice cream with Alex from CBeebies. I also queued behind Boy George in Tesco once, and sold stationery to Tom Baker.

Met the Queen and sang at church for John Major. Saw Chris Evans and Julia Stiles in a London pub. Met Ian Wright and David Seaman when they played for England, at Stanstead Airport.

I worked at Harrods so met/served lots of others but the biggest I suppose were: Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Jane Fonda, Gary Barlow, Terry Wogan, lots of authors.

Rogueone · 25/10/2018 16:41

James Nesbitt - right grumpy shit- see him storming round our local park
Jo Brand- kids went to our local school and she used to compere the school quiz- she gave me the finger once when I hooted the horn as she wasn’t moving on green 😂
Micky Flanagan- gets his hair done by same hair dresser as me- nice and down to earth
Kate Thornton- friend of a friend- really like her
Katie Ford- friend of a friend

Prodigy back stage at a gig in the 90s- wild
Bob and Vic used to go to the same bar as me and my mates years ago
Linda Henry- I regularly at our local Sainsbury’s and she looks scary....😂
Scottish Rugby 90s Captain David Soul and the Hastings brothers at the runrig concert- nice lads

ProfYaffle · 25/10/2018 16:48

Dramaramalama · 25/10/2018 16:48

Matt Smith, aka DR Who danced with my 2 year old - that will be his claim to fame once he’s older Grin

TattiePants · 25/10/2018 16:49

The post about Michael Winner reminded me that we walked past his memorial service in St James Park a few years ago. There were a lot of senior police officers there (think he had a connection to the Police memorial) and many famous faces - Michael Parkinson, Cilla, Roger Moore.

When I lived in South Manchester it was really common to bump into a Corrie Star, Hollyoaks actor or Man United player. David Beckham once drove behind me through Wilmslow town centre and Sally Lindsay lived a couple of doors away.

DH and his friend stayed at Melanie Hill (friend's cousin) and Sean Bean's house many years ago. Sean Bean was filming Patriot Games at the time and was on the phone to Harrison Ford.
