The thread about the worst holidays people have been on is really useful but also depressing....!

Where has everyone been that was amazing/beautiful/fun etc etc? Smile

I’ll start: Loved Barcelona (the tapas 🤤), Budapest (the baths were amazing), Croatia, Montenegro. Berlin is good fun.

Rome
Olu Deniz in Turkey

GemmaB78 · 18/10/2018 11:44

Iceland - all of it but Landmannalaugerand Thörsmork blew my mind
Slovenia - all of it but in particular, Lake Bohinj is stunning
Germany - Black Forest (German husband so we go a lot!)
Norway - the Fjords
Austrian Tyrol
French Alps.

There's definitely a theme: I like mountains and lakes!

HiGunny · 18/10/2018 11:45

Costa Rica is an amazing country. Beautiful and so much to do.
I also loved SE Asia (Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia). Stunning scenery, fun cities and the people were so nice and friendly.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 18/10/2018 11:46

Jordan
Croatia

MrPoppysGF · 18/10/2018 11:47

Hawaii was beautiful and the people even more so. On trips/tours they would ask if there were any British cousins aboard and were so kind and welcoming. Loved that all the men wore Hawaiian shirts too; a plain shirt or t-shirt would have been out of place anywhere. I still have my tiny Hawaiian shorts. This was 17 years ago before DC, so I was much younger, slimmer and significantly richer!

Much better thread!

Berlin
Cornwall
California (Monterey, San Francisco, Mendocino, Kings Canyon)

I like the place where I live not smug at all Grin

It's pretty. There's lots going on. It's big enough to be more-or-less anonymous, but not too huge. It's got good links to other places I like to go.

samanthalou · 18/10/2018 13:12

Perth (Western Australia) - never really travelled outside of Europe and it was amazing. The best part was visiting my brother who emigrated over there. But there is so much to see and do (and I got to hold a Koala and meet a Wombat)

Krakow (Poland) - such a beautiful place, so much culture and lots of things to do and see (and it's really friendly on the spending money)

Hawes (Yorkshire) - cheese, beer and rolling countryside

I'm getting the itch to book another holiday, but having to wait until my Honeymoon in 2020 (we are thinking Japan and/or Australia again)

squashyhat · 18/10/2018 13:39

I am currently in Myanmar. Politically perhaps not the best choice but it is a fantastic country. Less touristy than Thailand, less chaotic than India, kind and smiley people and some amazing sights. And very good WiFi connections! So glad I came here.

usernotfound0000 · 18/10/2018 14:06

Lake Tahoe - truly stunning.
Vancouver
Los Angeles
New York

The Maldives. The sealife was astonishing. Pods of dolphins swimming and playing by the boat. Seeing manta rays sommersaulting in the water over and over....

Bangkok. Immense. Intense. Surprinsingly clean. Organised choas

NameChanger22 · 18/10/2018 14:12

Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Nepal. I love Asia in general.

cjt110 · 18/10/2018 14:12

KeepServingTheDrinks I think you live in Monaco Grin

SodTheBloodyLotOfThem · 18/10/2018 14:13

Berlin
Miami and the Keys (although I've heard Miami has gone downhill)
Banff and the Rockies

Also had a great time in Ibiza (gorgeous beaches and weather), and with small kids I genuinely rated Thomasland.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 18/10/2018 14:27

somewhere not quite so sunny, sadly cjt110

Ile de Re. Blissful beaches, gorgeous scenery, fresh fish, friendly people, lovely shops, beautiful buildings. Perfect.

Paris, in particular Le Marais. Amazing for people watching, friendly people and food to die for.

Amsterdam. Friendly people, great art galleries, lovely food, good beer, relaxing cigarettes Wink

North Norfolk. Stunning beaches, beautiful scenery, all washed in the most amazing light.

I've travelled further afield; Hong Kong, Malaysia, The States, etc, but Europe seems to have my heart.

Theknacktoflying · 18/10/2018 14:39
