Yes but she was clapping and cheering. I'd have clapped politely or not at all. I think it's just people excusing it. I think the celebs get tickets outside the ballot for their family and friends anyway.

I could be wrong, but I think guests have to apply to be drawn out of a ballot to get a place- presumably quite a time ahead of the show, maybe she thought she'd still go?

@SillySallySingsSongs really? I'm sure I remember last year Gemma Atkinson talking about her mum having to go into the ballot for tickets, and someone else saying their mum had ended up getting tickets for when they weren't in the show anymore.

I think this whole saga is a massive publicity wind up. I think the kiss was real but all parties are milking it. The BBC got a bit of stick when celebs were announced due to the lacklustre line up but this saga has boosted the ratings. Their Charleston was a mess, full of mistakes and clumsiness, but Ballas gave it an 8 (two points off of perfection) and Craig, not known for being generous with his marks, gave it a 7. They are being kept in because everybody has been talking about it. The cuckolded husband Neil Smith usually mingling with the crowd milling around Claudia, but when S & K were doing their post dance chat, a gap appeared and there he was, steely in black, where the camera could get all parties in shot. Never seen such a gap between the dancers. Sean was being a bit of a cocky dick too. No signs of keeping a low profile.

As I said above, the actress he has been accused of having a fling with is rumoured to be going in the jungle this year. She is not particularly well known, but she is being linked to a hot story - well all publicity is good publicity. I think we are all being played.

All this will do is step up pressure for celebs in future years to have some kind of salacious story to keep them in the show. So, unfortunately it is just an entertainment show, nothing to do with dancing. The balance has shifted.

I believe that the celebs get a few tickets each week for friends and family, always in the same area downstage left for the reaction shots.

That doesn't quite balance with her being in the audience, expecting him to head home after rehearsals on her birthday, still living together (she managed to move out pretty sharpish and take the cat once the kiss story broke, so presumably they weren't forced to continue to live together by constraint of circumstance), and didn't he say something on ITT about how the relationship 'wasn't perfect' but this wasn't how he wanted it to end?

Sounds more like a desperate attempt to rewrite the narrative.

I think the story re Gemma's mum was that she had entered the ballot every year (like me) and got bugger all (like me). Having Gemma in the show meant she could go at last!
