Just ... hello really.

I consider myself a bit of an oldie but there might be people still here who were posting from the very start (circa 2000/01 ish?).

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to go back 10-12 years on Mumsnet. Would it look significantly different? I remember lots of scandals about the changing of the appearance of the site. I guess there would be fewer adverts, sliders and pop-ups?

What do you recall about the early days of MN if you were here then?

I joined in about 2004 - I was able to read every, thread every day. I miss that...

A580Hojas, further to your question, I remember that the Gina Ford method caused a huuuuge debate and got quite heated. Re MMR, I think we were really worried and some parents did believe that it had had an effect on their child. Probably loads more but I do remember quite clearly the support that lots of people, me included, also received on various topics. It probably still goes on but there are also so many more active chats and topics.

I joined 2003. Name changed lots and a bit of a lurker.
Riven had a big impact on me and a 'cup of tea' name (i cant remember her exact name)who had a beautiful very poorly baby.
Met up with some lovely localish MNers after we kept a thread going for many pages. Sadly I suffer really badly from social anxiety and didn't meet up again. I still think fondly of them

Oh, it was always SWMNBN and filthy chat on a Friday night. I think it was funnier in many ways and more personal. MN now is huge!

It used to say on your profile when you joined, I think it was about 2008 ish for me. I remember Riven, Cod, Aitch, Little Lapin and I think Xenia was around back then as well.

Since Jan 2005 when I discovered I was very unexpectedly pregnant and didn't know what to do as DH was being crap about it. I have no idea why I stuck around, as MN wasn't very supportive. I know that if I posted now, I'd be told to LTB. But, actually once he got over the theory of being a father, he has been brilliant.

I routinely name change so have many alter egos that I swap between.

2006. I can’t believe it’s been 12 years!

I’ve been here since 2003 & my original username was my actual name and where I lived! So many usernames since then I’ve lost count & my 6’3” teenager definitely got past the breastfeeding & sleep issues I originally came here for!

I’ve flounced a few times, usually down to frustration with people who don’t RTFT and occasionally I drift away for a few months or even years as it gets a bit Groundhog Day but I always end up drifting back. Not a huge fan of the terribly earnest tunnel vision echo chamber that is the feminist board these days but on the whole MN has been a supportive/informative environment which gives an interesting perspective on parenting and life in general (despite the trolls & perverts that litter the place on occasion!)

Xenia is still around, I'm sure I saw her recently under her usual name.
I remember being on holiday when Misdee's Peter was getting his heart transplant and not being able to sleep properly until I'd heard he was okay.

I think I joined about 2009 maybe, before kids. I think I stumbled across it whilst googling something ridiculous.

It was a much nicer place back then. Mind you I can remember a poster had a go at me because I said a politician, who I knew personally, was a nice person and everyone on the thread had a right go at her for being rude to me. Still remember her name too but won't say

Early posters I remember are Jimjams, Thomcat, Chocol8 and who could forget the great Cod?

I joined 9ish years ago, so a real newb compared to some. It was so much fun here then. Not so much now, sadly.

Fillyjonks used to crack me up. And cod could always be relied upon to be really inappropriate. Didn't there used to be a Mumsnet t-shirt you could buy that said 'In Cod We Trust'? Or did I totally dream that?!

I’ve been here since 2003, my youngest DC is 18 tomorrow! I can remember after about 11pm there wasn’t much going on, as most people were in bed, nowadays there always something going on, which is good if you’re up in the night feeding a baby, or in my case can’t sleep because of hot flushes

I remember there weren't nearly as many mods, and they used to join in the threads sometimes.

Also been here a while. The very first post I started took off and was mentioned in that special posts bit (Not trending post, don't think trending was a thing back then!!)

I was very pleased with myself. However, don't think I've managed to generate more than a page since!!!
