Anyone still here who joined in 2006 or earlier?

Just ... hello really.

I consider myself a bit of an oldie but there might be people still here who were posting from the very start (circa 2000/01 ish?).

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to go back 10-12 years on Mumsnet. Would it look significantly different? I remember lots of scandals about the changing of the appearance of the site. I guess there would be fewer adverts, sliders and pop-ups?

Woud we still have lots of threads headed like this

Hot topics of conversation might be baby modelling and the MMR. I can't honestly remember.

What do you recall about the early days of MN if you were here then?

I joined in 2004.

I still trawl unanswered threads, omdb.

It has changed a fair bit and I've had long breaks but I can't imagine leaving permanently.

Joined in 2009 but lurked before that. Took me ages to pluck up courage and got my arse handed to me on my first post on a thread. NC many times since then.

I joined in 2005 or so. I’ve never started a thread but I’ve read a lot and commented a little.
Mumsnet has educated me on many issues and I Hope I’m a better person for it.

I’ve been here since 2003 with many user names, especially since JeffreyGate.

As well as the bat we had baby pasta instead of Biscuit

Like a PP , my first user name was my real first name and my postcode!!

I remember most of the names mentioned here. Also Lavenderrrrrrr who used to troll all the time under her own name Hmm.

Riven left after she and her DD were in the newspapers when they had a Visit from David Cameron when he was PM. She raised the issue of pads ( nappies for older children with disabilities ) with him. I think she left for her Dds privacy after that.

Also Riven was her own first name too.

Xenia and Mary Z are still here and post regularly .

Trinity’s DH died very tragically in a road accident and she had a very difficult time afterwards .

I still go on to unanswered threads a few times a week, to see what I can either help with or bump. Particularly when people say it is their first post, or they are struggling with a new baby or something.

Been here since 2000!
I remember the days before chat - and how it had to be started up as _Chat so that it was at the bottom of the topic list. Iirc we didn’t have topic lists at the start.
Justine, Carrie and Rachel used to post a lot under other names to get threads going
I chickened our of the first meetup at Vinopolis.
Anyone remember that message in a bottle game we used to play?

Oh gosh all these names coming flooding back to my memories. I remember cod with her shite spelling. All the Mm threads as she had just gone missing. The overwhelming support of OK and MB when they lost their dh's. Big busy ups on the shannon Matthews threads. Someone called Cvq who totally manipulated people into feeling sorry for her terrible life when it was all bullshit. Riven became needsmorecoffee or something iirc

I started lurking in 2005, first posted 2006.

I remember lulumama, lissie, SewingMadMummy, Ledodgy, and all the others in the bar, MartianBishop, Milliways, who I think was the one I answered in my first post, LittleLapin, ChaosTrulyReigns, lots of others. Mostly gone now, though they may be still posting under other names, but I’ve never had the knack some people have of spotting people by their posting style.

I’ve had lots of names, mostly very briefly for name change competitions or themed name changes on a thread (something that sadly doesn’t happen anymore because of the sock-puppeting rules) but I’ve always come back to RustyBear

About 2007 I think. Remember lots of the names mentioned. It was the stomach hurting, face aching, roar till you cried FUNNY threads that hooked me in. So many great women just doing what they could do to get through life. And all before gin was trendy!! Gin

I've been here since around that time I think. I was also a member of a brilliant forum called Bad Mums which was ace, now sadly defunct.

Who was the lovely woman who lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere - was it Scotland? She was fabulous, I loved reading her posts.

Also remeber... Was it ScottishMum? She used to really make me laugh.

I was a lurker from around 2005. I think I started posting from 2007. I've name changed ALOT. Back then I never did, certainly not in the early days.

I remember the Birdland date thread. That was hilarious. I very nearlycwent along myself!
Moreteavicar? @GleeGeek is that who you mean?. Not even sure myself that is the correct name.

I remember the first thread I was genuinely invested ( if this is the right choice of words)
Was The Ophelia rose thread... I do wonder what happened to her.

I remember Pink Peter and his special chair.
Cat me you Cunt was bandied about a lot.
Message in a bottle kept us busy for hours.
Cube of poo still sticks in my mind.

And I remember Cods challenge one year, you had to get a thread to 1000, sockpuppet successfully on another thread. Get yourself given a warning and I am sure their were loads more. I still follow Cod on twitter.

I joined in 2006 under a different NN. The poster’s I remember fondly from those days were TheSecondComing, scottishmummy, AnyFucker and mathanxiety. I once received a very nice and unexpected gift from the Christmas Giving thread.
