Saw on Facebook that its now 20 years old! Shock
I adore it and watch it over and over. Even the missing episode from series 3 where they leave baby David with Anthony so they can go boozing. Plus all the specials including the brilliant Queen of Sheba.

Dad! Your flies are undone!

Jim Royle: Ah, the cage might be open, but the beast is asleep.

Barbara Royle: Beast my arse!

Nana And they had soup of the day ...which was Friday

ShannonRockallMalin · 14/09/2018 22:08

Oh my, so many favourite bits! Best episode was the Sunday lunch one I think, with Nana announcing “my favourite form of transport ... is a coach”. I just find that hilarious for some reason.

AviatorShades · 14/09/2018 22:09

Jim saying (whatever) my arse!
unfortunately I've adopted this and use it frequently, more unfortunately my friends haven't picked up the allusionBlushGrin

Denise: I’m not drunk, I’ve only had nine

AviatorShades · 14/09/2018 22:10

"not even a thin slice of ham,Barbara?"

HollowTalk · 14/09/2018 22:11

I love the way Barbara looks at Denise as though she's just the most amazing person in the world - total admiration.

choccywokkydoodah · 14/09/2018 22:14

mambo no 5

brainstormer123 · 14/09/2018 22:16

Denise on Christmas- 'it's not for kids is it?'

Barbara to Valerie- 'I'd love a dyson'

Best series ever!!!

Reptilemummy · 14/09/2018 22:17

Are you sure it isn’t just a great big piss?

QueenOfMyWorld · 14/09/2018 22:17

The episode where nana has been to elsies funeral and she's been pinching all the 'perishables' from elsies fridge and freezer. In fact all episodes are fab I watched them recently. The scene in queen of Sheba where Barbara is brushing nanas hair singing que sera sera sets me off crying every time!

ImWorriedAboutThis · 14/09/2018 22:17

The decorating scene where they dance to mambo no.5 and Barbara is dancing in the kitchen whilst cooking the bacon

I also like the bit where it's just Jim and Denise at the house before they get in to the car for her wedding.

BobbyBanana · 14/09/2018 22:19

Aw it's just so good. Where can you watch it?

FireCrotch · 14/09/2018 22:19

I like the mundane and normal stuff that happens in most households such as
"Ooh that was a nice bit of cheese Barbara!"
"Yeah I'll go to him again".
"She's very high up in North West water."
"She's got some lovely wraparound skirts that Judith Chalmers"

bestbefore · 14/09/2018 22:19

With our Anthony's girlfriend - she's a vegetarian "shame" and then from nana "Barbara, can she have some wafer thin ham?" Grin

Justmuddlingalong · 14/09/2018 22:20

I've got the box set on dvd. I brought it for me DP a few Christmases ago. He's never watched it. I have, repeatedly.

bestbefore · 14/09/2018 22:20

And mum to Denise, "what did you have for your tea?" Denise - "dairy lee on toast" - mum "oh"

MsHomeSlice · 14/09/2018 22:21

Barb "what did you have for your tea Dave?"
Dave "sausage and chips"
Barb "oh...any gravy?"
Dave "no, me Mam couldn't be arsed"
Barb "I don't blame her, its nearly summer"

love it!!

Justmuddlingalong · 14/09/2018 22:22

Sorry. Favourite episode was when they went to the "pearl of Prestatyn" on holiday. No chip pan, holidays from hell quote makes me howl. 😂

Livedandlearned2 · 14/09/2018 22:22

It's on Netflix. Nana wanting Dave to give her a lift home after be and Denise get married!

LucheroTena · 14/09/2018 22:23

Nut bush city limits

Jim’s skid marks in the caravan

Nanas nail extensions

Barbara scraping the dog poo off the shoes into the kitchen sink with a knife

Loved the whole thing.

Livedandlearned2 · 14/09/2018 22:23

He not be.

BelfastBloke · 14/09/2018 22:24
  • Jim, don’t Valerie’s implants look lovely?
  • They’re great, them, Valerie.
– I got her them for Christmas, you know. – Oh, well done.
  • She didn’t want them. She wanted a Dyson.
– Oh, well, I’d love a Dyson. – I’d love a Dyson.
  • Actually, I did get a Dyson as well.
  • Oh, Valerie, what a Christmas! Implants and a Dyson!
InglouriousBasterd · 14/09/2018 22:24

‘And then they both had a crepe’

‘I’m not surprised after all that food’

MakeYourOwnFuckingTea · 14/09/2018 22:25

It's on Netflix but you might be able to find it on YouTube. I wondered why there was an episode missing and found it on there. Was a while back though.

The one where Barbara is in the kitchen on her mobile, asking Denise how she is, is she feeling better, should Barbara go and collect her??
Denise weakly agrees, so Barbara goes to collect her...... from upstairs.
