How far pregnant am I?!

Long story short, I took a pregnancy test yesterday as I've just been feeling a bit run down recently and sure enough it came back instantly (before the control line) with a very dark positive! I have very irregular periods and I am breastfeeding at the moment so no idea how far along I am. I have booked a private scan for Monday. Just now I dug out my home Doppler just on the off chance and I found the heartbeat! Only about an inch below my belly button!!!! What does this all mean? How far along do you think I am?

How old is the baby you are breastfeeding? And when did you first have unprotected sex after giving birth? Because you could be anything from 4 weeks to last time you had sex + 2 weeks.

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 07/09/2018 14:44

Oh baby is over a year old. I've only had two periods since she was born, about 3 months apart, which is normal for me anyway, have never been able to go off last period date.

If you found the HB with a Doppler that high up I reckon you're probably already past the 12 week stage!

That's what I thought too 😮 but I had awful morning sickness with the others so I can't quite fathom that it's possible. Can't wait til Monday to find out what's going on!!

If it was really the baby's heartbeat you found (and not your own - I think you can tell from the speed can't you?), then I think you must be second trimester. When was your last period, can you remember? What a surprise!

cakesonatrain · 07/09/2018 15:14

I was also wondering if you were picking up your own heart beat?
Very exciting though, if you want another baby3.

NancyDonahue · 07/09/2018 15:15

I only had morning sickness with 2 pregnancies. The 3rd was a breeze and I worried the whole time because I didn't feel sick that I wasn't properly pregnant. Can you call docs and get a scan booked in?

ISeeTheLight · 07/09/2018 15:18

I would think you're at least 12 weeks if that's the baby's heartbeat. Amazing surprise!

ThirdChildFourthPile · 07/09/2018 15:46

OP I got zero morning sickness with DC3, (horrific sickness with the baby before) and I've always said if I hadn't seen the baby on the scan I would never have believed I was pregnant. It seems that this has happened to you as well!

Bloody hell though, how do you feel about it?
I assume it was unplanned?

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 07/09/2018 15:53

99% sure it was baby's heartbeat. Got private scan booked for Monday so will know for sure then I guess!

This would be dc 4, and my eldest just started school so v close together! Not exactly planned but I have always said I wanted 4 and although dh wasn't as convinced he has taken the news very positively!

I would guess at least 16 weeks if it was the feral heartbeat at that level. Can you feel the top of your womb? Congratulations btw!

Crunchymum · 07/09/2018 16:49

Do you know when you had sex? You may be able to get a rough date from that? (As it would be around when you ovulated?)

YouAlwaysTry · 07/09/2018 16:50

Wow what a surprise!

EggMayonnaise · 07/09/2018 16:53

I would say at least 16 weeks. How exciting, congratulations!

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 07/09/2018 16:58

If you’re fairly sure it was babies heartbeat you’d be over 12 weeks I’d poke a guess at 16weeks plus if you found it that easily.

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 07/09/2018 17:06

Can't remember when I had my last period, must be about 3 months ago I think. But that doesn't mean a lot because they have always been very irregular, my dates have always been wayyyyyy out of what lmp date says. Sex wise.. it's every week or so really so can't pinpoint that although we were using condoms most of the time (ha ha) and don't think we've had unprotected in the last few weeks. The heartbeat wasn't easy to find, I think I've got an anterior placenta, like I did with all the others so I could hear it behind the whooshing of the placenta... I think!

I'd be tempted to get a digital test that tells you weeks so I'd roughly know but I'm horribly impatient.

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 07/09/2018 17:08

Legally I'm never sure if I can feel the top of my womb and I've done this 6 times (2 mc).. 7 now!

Crunchymum · 07/09/2018 17:09

God you're good, 3 little 'uns and once a week Grin

Will have a nosy on Monday to see how you get on.

Despite having 3 kids I've never know how to do this myself but apparently you can feel your cervix (through your tummy) and it's position can indicate how pregnant you are or something like that

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 07/09/2018 17:10

Oh no, 5 times, 6 now haha!!

OP posts:
Crunchymum · 07/09/2018 17:11

Yep I meant womb, not cervix. Blush

MidwifeDreams · 07/09/2018 17:11

Wow! Congratulations -and shamelessly marking for scan update Monday-

Crunchymum · 07/09/2018 17:13

Sorry I'm just laughing at myself. Feeling your cervix through your tummy Grin

I meant your womb. And I do know the difference between them Wink

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 07/09/2018 17:14

Crunchy I've tried every time but I've never known what's what! I can't work out what's womb, what's muscle, bladder?! Who knows!!

OP posts:
Foodylicious · 07/09/2018 17:14

I think you can hear it from around 10-12 weeks, but most midwife won't try to find it until 16 weeks as it's not reliable that you will find it before then.
