How far pregnant am I?!

Long story short, I took a pregnancy test yesterday as I've just been feeling a bit run down recently and sure enough it came back instantly (before the control line) with a very dark positive! I have very irregular periods and I am breastfeeding at the moment so no idea how far along I am. I have booked a private scan for Monday. Just now I dug out my home Doppler just on the off chance and I found the heartbeat! Only about an inch below my belly button!!!! What does this all mean? How far along do you think I am?

Marking my place for Monday haha. I'm unsure how far you'll be.. if it's defo baby's heartbeat you heard I'm guessing 12ish... if not I'm guna say 5/6 as tests are meant to drop off at 9 weeks and get fainter some sort of effect it's called... Not a clue though. Good luck!! Xx

Shameless marker!
How exciting! X

How many weeks ago did your youngest reduce their feeds?

Contraceptive protection associated with breastfeeding would have been reduced —lost— at that point.

TooGood2BeFalse · 08/09/2018 11:16

My guess is 11 weeks 3 days.Good luck OP!

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 08/09/2018 11:39

My guess is 20 weeks. Lie on your back with your hand nearly flat to your stomach. Starting high, feel for the fundus by pressing into your abdomen then downwards towards the pubic area. The fundus is quite hard and a defined line.

Crunchymum · 08/09/2018 12:27

Hmmmm, given that a MW has posted and said that even at 16w the fetal HB should be quite low, I'm wondering if you are actually a lot further pregnant than you think Shock

I'll go for 25 weeks, just to be different.

Pamdoo · 08/09/2018 12:36

I will go 9 weeks just for fun! I got an instant strong positive at 8 weeks 4 days, had no idea how far along I was until i had a scan, no period for months and completely symptomless pregnancy, I tested on a nagging whim!

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 08/09/2018 12:38

I'm out all day today so can't do any fundus feeling attempts until tonight. I will try but I'm just rubbish at feeling for what's what. I'm really doubting I'm more than 12 weeks. I had quite a big bump by then with dc2 and 3.

What an exciting mystery!!

I’m also a midwife and you usually find the FH right on your knicker line, just above the pubic bone at 16 weeks. Sometimes you do go a bit higher and angle it down though.

At 16 weeks I remember finding it quite easy to palpate my own fundus, about 1.5 inches below my bellybutton. If you start just above your bellybutton and push in and down with the side of your hand, there should be a quite obvious ridge if you’re 14 weeks plus.

ThirdChildFourthPile · 08/09/2018 12:56

My fundal height was always just below my belly button at 16 weeks, but I also have very big bumps. I've put it down to having a short torso. Could that be possible @starfishsandwich?
I'm getting extra growth scans this time round because he's big, but I keep telling them that the others were big and that's just normal for me.

VforVienetta · 08/09/2018 12:57

This is so exciting! I'm going to throw my bet in at 16wks, bump sizes can be quite surprising.
Imagine if you hadn't tested and bump had remained subtle, I wonder how far you'd have got before realising? You could've been one of those "indigestion" labours! Grin

hendricksy · 08/09/2018 12:58

How exciting!!

BeautifulPossibilities · 08/09/2018 13:04

Oh this is exciting. Totally place marking as I haven nothing else to add!

youarenotkiddingme · 08/09/2018 13:07

Oh wow.

I have no idea of any of the knowing where to measure and Doppler stuff.

I have regular garunteed 28 day cycle periods and dire morning sickness alerted me to being pregnant at 3.5 weeks.

Tested the morning I didn't come on and was pregnant!

I'm guessing 15 weeks and 3 days.

youarenotkiddingme · 08/09/2018 13:07

Should add mine were absolutely regular to the hour as I was on the pill 🙄😂

CormoranStrike · 08/09/2018 15:13

My guess is 17 weeks

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 08/09/2018 18:23

So we got home an hour ago and I went straight to lie down and try to feel. It feels hard just above my belly button but I don't know if it's just a muscle. It can't be the fundus. God I wish I was more in touch with my body normally!! And that it was Monday tomorrow!!

OP posts:
Foodylicious · 08/09/2018 18:35

Have you nowhere else that could fit you in tomorrow?

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 08/09/2018 20:46

Unfortunately not. The place I've booked was Monday earliest. There are others I could try but nearly double the price so will have to try be patient!!

PrincessConsuelaBannanaHammock · 08/09/2018 20:50

Congratulations op. I'm going to guess at 11 weeks! Hope all goes well Smile

RiddleyW · 08/09/2018 21:10

I can never work out the womb thing. Don’t get what to feel for! I’m glad you’re so happy, it’s adorable

TickleMyPickle · 09/09/2018 13:14

Place marking with a guess of 19 weeks!

Goostacean · 09/09/2018 13:19

THIS IS SUCH AN EXCITING THREAD! Looking forward to your update, OP!
