I'll start:

Ubereats for charging me nearly a tenner for some cold, rubbery food that they told me I couldn't have a refund for as 'tough luck' AngryAngry

o2 for refusing to replace a broken new phone (arrived broken), and then not accepting my complaint.

BT. When mum died I was staying at her house. Whilst sorting things out, I thought I should let them know she had died but asked about their contracts as I would need access to internet for job hunting etc. I was told it was 12 months. I really did not need it that long but thought ok. When the time was up - of course I found out in fact it was for 18 months! As I was unemployed still I was not happy that now I was back home with no land phone or internet I would have to keep paying for this, and had been tricked. I wrote several letters and eventually they agreed I could cut it 'short' and not pay, then of course the demanding letters began again, so I sent them back a copy of the grovelling letter they sent me (they had something in place for grieving relatives apparently), so they then apologised again.

When I went to our new job centre to log in at the computer they said I would need a BT account. No thanks, I told them, they would have to log me in with their code.

TSSDNCOP · 25/08/2018 14:49

Smeg. Lying fucking bastards.

Bad luck Smeg Customer Service for having recorded lines, and a customer that always takes the name spoken to and date/time of calls.

lanbro · 25/08/2018 14:58

Scottish Power, absolutely abysmal. I've had compensation from them 3 times due to billing errors but each time has taken months, countless phone calls and eventually an email to the CEO.

Talk talk, hours of calls going round in circles before the simplest of solutions was implemented

Halfahunnerstillastunner · 25/08/2018 15:00

British Gas. Kept trying to bill me for the flat below mine. Couldn't understand the concept of different flats with different owners within the same building apparently, the idiots. Absolutely useless customer "service". Months of stress. I moved in the end. Will never ever deal with them again. Loathsome incompetent company.

MaverickSnoopy · 25/08/2018 15:28

Excellent thread!

Dunelm - for never for fulfilling click and collect (apart from once) but insisting for weeks that it's on its way. The one time it did arrive it was wrong.

Just Eat - for repeatedly accepting our orders (different take aways) and then cancelling just as DH arrived to collect. Customer services always unable to help. Ordering direct causes no such problems.

Asda grocery deliveries - for cancelling my order but saying it was on its way and telling me to wait in, which resulted in me having to cancel a night out and in the end no food shopping. Customer services, again, were worse than useless.

Yodel - for the driver who thought it suitable to come into my house, grab a parcel out of my hands and push me over and for customer services to ignore me and the centre manager for ignoring the police who opened an investigation. Now I don't use any company who uses Yodel as I am terrified of that driver.

Refuse to use any of the above companies now.

derxa · 25/08/2018 16:03

Enterprise Car Hire. They picked the car up from me. No problems.
Then got a letter from company saying the tyres and wheels were damaged and demanded money. Lots of phone calls and emails later they admitted procedure hadn't been followed.

Arrivederci · 25/08/2018 16:14

Curry's pc world.
Went to my local for a docking station, they advised not in stock but the nearest megastore had it ~20 miles away and called them to reserve. I drove the 20 miles to be told not in stock!
It's hard to avoid currys when you need electronics. Now I order online.

FrayedHem · 25/08/2018 16:17

Scottish Power here too. Went to ombudsman. Bill reduced by over £2k! Still having problems with them now. Can't wait to be free of them.

DarlingNikita · 25/08/2018 16:28

Royal Fucking Mail.

I hovered by the door waiting for the post as someone was sending me an item for work that was time-sensitive. Didn't turn up. No knock, no ring. Checked hallway and there was a 'something for you' card saying it was being sent back to the sorting office as they'd 'missed me'. I went out and bought the item at my own expense and in precious work time, did the work, made my deadline.

Complained and asked for compensation for buying the item and the time I'd wasted buying it, and they sent an officious letter saying, basically, my complaint wasn't covered by any of their policies and so they weren't obligated to compensate me.

Took it to director and then to ombudsman -I may have got a little obsessed and was just stonewalled. 'we now consider this matter closed' etc.

Cunts.

Itchytights · 25/08/2018 16:32

E on.

Biggest scamming craftiest wankers on the planet.

Bills unreadable and full of jargon and they were completely fucking full of horse shit.

Never ever again

Whenisitbedtime · 25/08/2018 16:34

Companies I will never use again:
BT
Talk talk
Asda
But the worst of the worst
Anglian Home Improvements
Never never never use them!!!

Thesearepearls · 25/08/2018 16:34

Scottish Power for harassing me for a 2 year period (it’s still ongoing) about a flat in Hinckley. I have never been a customer of Scottish Power and nor have I been to Hinckley. This hasn’t stopped them from writing to me every month about it. Sometimes they send cheques. Sometimes they send prepayment keys. Every month I write back explaining I am not a customer of theirs. Sometimes I try phoning too. It’s utterly surreal. I don’t even know how they got my name.

RadioDorothy · 25/08/2018 16:43

Every car dealership I've had the misfortune to do business with (in order of worst fuckwittery Peugeot, BMW, Ford and VW), with the exception of LMC Citroën and Barons Mini.

And don't get me started on those utter wankers Marquis Motorhomes.

I also loathe and despise Yodel.

LARLARLAND · 25/08/2018 16:43

Mark Warner holidays and Tui.
We spent a lot of money booking holidays with both companies. Both times I explained at length that DP has a disability and both times we ended up with accommodation which wasn’t suitable. Both companies couldn’t have cared less when we returned home.

LongSummerDays · 25/08/2018 16:54

Tui. Refused to acknowledge my complaint about being denied a "medical" seat on the plane home when my leg was in plaster ankle-knee despite asking for one and being told at check in it was a medical seat.

It was an aisle seat about 5 rows back. When I asked for the medical seat as I couldn't even get my leg in the row the air hostess smirked and said "you'll have to stick your leg out in the aisle then"

Eventually got a medical seat but on complaining on my return they denied what the air hostess had said and I was told that it was my fault as I didn't tell them before travelling that I was going to break my ankle on holiday.

I have never booked through Tui since (I know it makes not a jot of difference to them!)

mumprincess12 · 25/08/2018 16:59

First Utility - makes me more than grind teeth. Makes me livid

BigcatLittlecat · 25/08/2018 17:21

British Gas will never havever a penny of mine again! Saga went on for weeks and one evening I had had enough. I got through to a call centre and asked to be put through to a manager this was refused for different reasons whenever the operator spoke I just repeated the phrase "I would like to speak to your manager please" for around 20 minutes. Eventually got through to a manager where I promptly burst into tears! But to be fair he did sort stuff out but we lost a lot of money.

DarlingNikita · 25/08/2018 17:23

Thesearepearls, what do you think would happen if you cashed one of the cheques? Are they for large amounts or weirdly small sums like £3.74?

ChipsAndKetchup · 25/08/2018 17:28

TUI. Absolutely despicable company. If anything goes wrong on your holiday they literally don't give a fuck. They've already got your money. Such an awful way to run a business because I'll never use them again. Just thinking about them gives me such rage.

Also Wickes. Just levels of jaw dropping incompetence I've never experienced before when fitting my bathroom.

PutYourBackIntoit · 25/08/2018 17:31

Carphone Warehouse for not bothering to check ID from someone obviously 20 years younger than me who had stolen my identity and went to 3 shops and successfully upgraded my account in 2 shops. She walked away with 2 iphones.
Then when the police were investigating, they spent so much time on hold to customer services they had to close the case as it had cost so much getting nowhere.

Robert Half employment agency for sending me to a place of work where I felt completely vulnerable and the journey took twice as long as they said it would. This is before google.

And the worst....fabletics. I'm beyond words with them!

LARLARLAND · 25/08/2018 17:35

Longsummerdays I can relate to that with Tui. I booked through one of their shops so that I could properly explain the situation. The person in the shop telephoned the rep at the hotel to discuss the matter with her. I thought it would be fine but when we arrived we were allocated a room that was completely unsuitable. DP couldn’t wash for two days until the hotel could change our room. Then, we we got home TUI denied we had told them anything about our requirements.
Avoid TUI.

Fwend · 25/08/2018 17:36

Asda.

Online order of £120 - £80 worth of food, nappies etc missing. Really basic stuff just not delivered.

Driver scarpered before we could flag it. According to the jobsworths at Head Office, it had all been delivered by their driver, who they trusted as he'd worked for them for years. Basically called me a liar!

Asda kept my £80 for 21 days before grudgingly admitting that they'd gone through their CCTV and I was correct in saying the items were missing.

The upsetting part is that while we could afford another shop that week to replace the missing bits, someone on a tight budget would have been utterly scuppered - no nappies, bread, milk - and no money with which to replace them.

Roomba · 25/08/2018 17:38

British Gas - for billing me over a thousand pounds too much in error, refusing to accept they had made any error whatsoever, and forcing me onto a prepayment meter as I was on UC and couldn't afford the repayments on my 'debt'. They terrified my toddler by breaking into my home to install it with no notice (I did not receive the letter they supposedly sent me saying what was to happen!)

16 months later, I get a cheery letter advising my account had been calculated incorrectly and they had removed over £1K from what I 'owed' them. They refuse to put me back on a normal meter without me paying a massive deposit I don't have. The second I don't owe them a penny I am switching, I don't care if I have to pay twice as much per Kwh!

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 25/08/2018 17:40

Spec savers. I have never had a pair of glasses that have been correct. And when I went the other I had to put up with a condescending horrible lady telling me they were right. No madam. If they were correct I would be able to see out of them

EyeSaidTheFly · 25/08/2018 17:58

This is my thread.

First, WHSmith. Have boycotted for years because they sold playboy merch to schoolgirls. This was years ago tbf.

Second, Boots. All that awful judgement about hiking up the price of the morning after pill so that women 'don't do something irresponsible'. Well, they can go and fuck themselves, I've refused to spend a single penny there since. The irony is that Superdrug is so much cheaper anyway.

Third, Zara. They do racial profiling. They deny it but all their black staff complain about it. Wonder who I believe.

Fourth, Jigsaw. Bought a top last year, such appalling quality there were ACTUAL HOLES after a free washes. This was with the original and the replacement. They refuse to refund me as I didn't have the receipt. Have boycotted ever since and will NEVER shop there again.

A few years ago in Reiss I was specifically assured by the saleswoman that I could bring an expensive dress back if I changed my mind in a week. She not only refused to but then actually lied to head office and said she'd told me the opposite. I have never forgotten and don't go there either now.

These companies are such twats. I used to spend literally thousands at boots and jigsaw in particular.

Yy to virgin and ee btw.
