Anyone else can't sleep? I didn't go to bed til 1ish last night, but I've already been awake over an hour.

DDog is horrified that I'm up so early (and it's raining here).

Where I am it's 2 hours til grade boundaries released (which I still don't totally understand, but we're hoping for low) and 3 hours til she gets her results. Kettle's on.

Try being us!! Child away abroad so we have had to wait until now to find out when they finally texted!! Shock

Thecountryhasgonecrazy · 23/08/2018 12:34

*done well-dropped a couple of grades but for the amount of work done good results!

IllBeAtTheBarIfYouNeedMe · 23/08/2018 12:55

Dd passed everything thankfully. She needed 5 grade 4’s for her first choice sixth form but she got nothing lower then a 5. She’s now debating wether she wants to do a levels or the IB but she’s packing for sixth form at least. She’s going to a sixth form in the Channel Islands so she’s leaving home Confused

LuluJakey1 · 23/08/2018 13:11

DH said Y11 were really pleased with their results and there was only one person in tears of upset.
DS is very excited. He handed out sweeties in bowls and said everyone was very happy. He played football in the gym with 3 of the big boys and a sponge ball and he had a drink of squash and 3 biscults and got a balloon. But big boys and girls make a lot of noise apparently. He says he is having a nap after his lunch. Grin

Solomonbitestheworm · 23/08/2018 13:14

Well done all! What a day!!
My daughter exceeded all her predicted grades. After a tough few years I’m really proud of her and so pleased for her! Smile

Hedgehog80 · 23/08/2018 13:34

So so proud of dd1
She’s been unwell for years in years 8/9/10 attendance was about 30% and last Sep was so unwell we took her out to HE and she only took 3 gcses
She passed and got 2 level 9’s !!!!!! So proud

Ignoramusgiganticus · 23/08/2018 13:41

We are very relieved and pleased in this house too.

It's stress fun time. Onwards and upwards everyone Flowers

Ignoramusgiganticus · 23/08/2018 13:42

a stressful time

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 14:00

Sorry to have been off line. Been out in Sainsbury's buying flowers, a card and chocolate. I was shaking from head to foot the whole time.

Well done, almost all your kids have done REALLY well.
summermeadows - I hope your day passes and his results make the next choices clearer
ElfrideSwancourt - great about the German and I totally agree with
Main thing is she has done well enough to do the A levels she wants to do
Derekmorganwasinmybed - that's a great result. Good luck with the remark
Sorry Cantchoosenickname, but it's great she got onto the course she wanted.
KTyoupigeon - Fabulous
Thecountryhasgonecrazy At least you know now and can celebrate!
IllBeAtTheBarIfYouNeedMe That's wonderful. Good luck for that next stage (eeek!)
LuluJakey1 your DS sounds like a cutie!
Solomonbitestheworm that's fabulous. AND you've got a clean house. Double whoop!
Hedgehog80 - 2 level 9s is fantastic. Well done.
Ignoramusgiganticus - well done to you too, so pleased for all of you.

If I've missed anyone out, I'm so sorry - I'm REALLY tired now.

So that's a life-stage ticked off for our kids. Onto the next phase now. They'll never have to take THIS many exams in SO many subjects again. Phew!
My DD's CV is already better qualified than I am. I couldn't be more proud.

He's having his nap Grin

BarbraDear · 23/08/2018 14:42

DS1 collected his this morning and after fretting this past few weeks about what he could do if he didn't get the marks (he has ASD and really struggles in social situations so the thought of anything other than going back to school was worrying him), he got the points needed to get back in! He's relieved but I think I'm even more relieved!

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 14:56

I might have one of those, Lulu

Fantastic news Barbra

Another one with a happy DD today. She's done really well. She worked hard and got some well earned results. She was super stressed particularly about Maths and Science - and again, both are passed well. Maths she found so hard and was sometimes struggling to get much more than borderline - with the aid of a tutor and a lot of hard work she did way better than she expected. Science she hates (she says) and is her trickiest subject - she's constantly been dropping below a pass in recent past papers, but did more than just pass that too.

She didn't have the easiest time in the run up with too many blips, mostly out of her control, so I'm even more pleased for her.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 15:18

Great news Aragog. Really happy for you and your DD

So can't really say IRL but DD, L6th, acted as a peer mentor and tutored 2 girls for GCSE English.

DD gave up a lot of lunches and frees to help and was heavily invested and as nervous as she was getting her own grades.

One was badly failing when she started with DD and learning in isolation, and the other was on the border of a 4 but wanted to do English for 6th form.
DD was very passionate and the girls really thrived-am proud as punch to say both girls passed and one will do doing English at 6th form.
Welling up with pride for them all.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 15:19

That's so lovely mumsie. What a special DD you've got to give up her time and to care so much.

OP posts:
mumsiedarlingrevolta · 23/08/2018 15:19

*obviously not just down to DD-but a huge team effort -thought i might need to add that on re-reading, clearly hard working teachers etc there as well!!!!

Tiggles · 23/08/2018 15:21

Hurrah! A place where I can brag and nobody knows me Grin. DS has autism so we knew he was never going to do well like some children will. We are in Wales so still letters for grades.

He has walked away with As in both his maths, 1 other A, 2Bs, 5Cs (including in Welsh which was always going to be very touch and go) and a D. Oh and he passed his Welsh Baccalaureate with P2 as well.

I am so proud I could burst!

Well done to everyone else's DC too some of those are amazing grades.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 23/08/2018 15:21

@keepServingTheDrinks it was very good for her as well-but the whole peer mentoring scheme so successful.
DD texted the girls yesterday to wish them luck and waiting like a nervous Mum for results!!

Aragog · 23/08/2018 15:25

Been reading full thread - well done to everyone's DCs. Hope they all get to where they want to be next, one way or another.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 15:34

You absolutely can brag on here today Tiggles, and you've got loads to brag about - those are superb results and would be for a child without Autism.

Borntobeamum · 23/08/2018 16:50

What a lovely read this has been.
My dc are all grown up and married (28, 30 and 33) but we have 9 grandchildren who will be in this position in a few years. I've been welling up just holding my breath!!
What all great caring mums you are. X x x

tumpymummy · 23/08/2018 17:07

Good news here, so if we are unashamedly bragging - six 9s, three 8s and a 7. Staying on at school sixth form. Also going for a remark on Physics as only 2 marks off a 9. I don't necessarily see the need for a remark as results are really good anyway but DS keen and it was him that did all the work so I can't really refuse.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 17:33

Bloody Hell tumpy those are some bragsome results. Congrats to your DS

Thank you for your lovely words "Bornto". I have to say, I've loved this thread today. It really helped get me through the first few hours when I was just so tense, and I was so grateful I wasn't the only one awake.
Then it was just so funny when bloody EVERYONE'S child was still asleep and we were all kicking our heels waiting for them to wake up, and NONE of us has slept.
Then when we were all so tense.

And then those lovely results started coming through. This thread's been a perfect backdrop to a unique day today.
