Anyone else can't sleep? I didn't go to bed til 1ish last night, but I've already been awake over an hour.

DDog is horrified that I'm up so early (and it's raining here).

Where I am it's 2 hours til grade boundaries released (which I still don't totally understand, but we're hoping for low) and 3 hours til she gets her results. Kettle's on.

I think the grade boundaries are out for edexcel and ocr. I can’t remember which ones she took so it’s of no use to me really. The requirements for her sixth form are very reasonable though so I’m hoping she’s done enough.

I’m going to drink my tea and go for a run.

Good luck to everyone’s dc this morning

@Savage looking above seems it doesn't apply to us so I'll stay happy in my ignorance BlushGrin

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 06:35

Savage I hope you're somewhere nice.

@KeepServingTheDrinks Cyprus. House sitting for my cousins. It's a tough job 😂 it's already 34 degrees in the shade.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 06:44

Any other day, I'd be super jealous Savage

eeek! We're trending. I've never done that before.

Probably because we're the only people awake at this ridiculous hour.

I can’t sit still! Going to blitz the house, what’s the earliest I can hoover? Hmm

Solomonbitestheworm · 23/08/2018 06:49

Live in a terrace house!

ElfrideSwancourt · 23/08/2018 06:50

I've been up since 4 too (although unfortunately that's normal for me ). DD is away this week so I have to open the envelope 😱

Have really no idea how she has done just hoping she has passed everything 🤞

Good luck everyone!

Another twitchy anxious parent with a sleeping child here. He worked really hard and started to care in Y11 - the other years, not so much. In fact bugger all really. So I have no idea - was that burst of effort in Y11 enough?

chaplin1409 · 23/08/2018 06:53

It's my son's results today and I have been awake for ages. He is away with Army cadets until tonight so I'm going to collect his results and hope he gets the grades he needs for me to sign him up to 6th form as I've no idea what to do if he does not.

Tryingforsleepthief2 · 23/08/2018 06:53

Grade boundaries are the number of marks needed to get each grade. E.g 11=1, 15=2, 22=3.
Totally made up and will be different for each subject. For most subjects this is the first year of the new grading system and style of paper so hopefully the exam boards will be kind. For English and maths, it's the second year so they are expected to rise. (In November it was harder to get a 4/5/6/7/8/9 than in last June).

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 06:57

Not until at least 9 Solomonbitestheworm, but LUCKILY, where I live it's a lot earlier. Pop round

Bombaybunty · 23/08/2018 06:58

Results are in. He's done well but got Cs in 2 of the subjects he wants to do for A level.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 06:59

DD's shitting herself about the maths Trying and I've heard lots of stories from people all over the country about how hard everyone found those exams in particular.

And DD also thinks she stuffed up on of the sciences and geography, but neither of those matter for next year, as long as she's got her magic 38

EdisonLightBulb · 23/08/2018 06:59

Good luck everyone I feel for you. 🌷

I'll just say in two years time when you are waiting for ALevels it's ten times worse 🙃

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 07:00

Well done Bombay. Will he get into his chosen 6th form with C's?

OP posts:
KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 07:00

Cheers for that, Edison. I might have got some more sleep by then!

I'm wishing your dc's well, my dd did her GCSE's last year and I know how you're all feeling!
It's easier said than done but try not to worry! Smile

ChateauRouge · 23/08/2018 07:03

I can't work out whether the same percentage will get 7, 6, 5 etc as got A, B, C last year? They keep saying they're harder but the pass rate won't go down, so will it or won't it? Confused
Presumably you need fewer marks to get a 7 this year than an A last year because the papers are harder? What happened to "oh they're much harder, the pass rates will drop hugely"?

FreshHorizons · 23/08/2018 07:03

Luckily I have been through it - I don't think you can manage not to feel like that- good luck- hope all goes well.

Solomonbitestheworm · 23/08/2018 07:05

Well done Bombay will the c’s scupper his plan?

9 Keep? Crikey, I can’t wait that long! I’ll give it till 8 unless I hear the neighbours before!

StarsMoonSun · 23/08/2018 07:06

Where we are the Grades were done numerically last year.

DadDadDad · 23/08/2018 07:07

My DS gets his results by email. They were sent earlier this morning, but he's not awake yet to log in and see them, so I'm sitting here torturing myself... Brew

LoniceraJaponica · 23/08/2018 07:09

I just want to wish all your DC good luck. I went through this two years ago, then last week with A level results.
