GCSE results - kinda hoping I'm not alone.

Anyone else can't sleep? I didn't go to bed til 1ish last night, but I've already been awake over an hour.

DDog is horrified that I'm up so early (and it's raining here).

Where I am it's 2 hours til grade boundaries released (which I still don't totally understand, but we're hoping for low) and 3 hours til she gets her results. Kettle's on.

morning all
dd2 is going in for hers at 10.00.
this is however the fifth time we've collected results (ds1 gcse and A level, dd1 gcse and last week A level) so I am getting used to it!
Must say this is not as bad as getting dd1s A levels last week, that kicked off at 7am and was stressful!
Good luck to all. It will be fine.

DS up and waiting to go into school for 10.
Grade boundaries looking ok in DS best subjects.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 08:48

DD's gone off to school. Not before biting my head off (twice) and bursting into tears because I was "putting her under too much pressure". I had said the word "gutted".

Also have a sleeping DD here, nervously on 3rd coffee

It's not going to be brilliant, but just hoping she can get into 6th Form. We're hoping for a 5 for Maths. Would be over the moon with a 6.

Unfortunately most of her friends are A*/8-9 type students, so it might be tough for her on SM later

Twistella · 23/08/2018 08:51

Good luck everyone. This was me last year and all I can really remember was that dd passed maths with a grade C!!

Jane1727 · 23/08/2018 08:55

My kids are too young to be taken GCSE's yet. Just wanted to say good luck to all those waiting. There is so much pressure on kids these day and I will stress when the time comes for my kids that exam results do not define you as a person. They are important yes but not the be all and end all. My brother struggled and left uni without his degree he has done so well for himself and has a very responsible, high level role in Education and is absolutely fantastic at it.
Difficult for kids who don't achieve what they want to see this now but if they are determined they will achieve whatever they want in life!

TheDrsDocMartens · 23/08/2018 08:59

We are 10am here. Dd2 &friend still in bed. They’re letting me go with them though. I’ve worked with so many of this year group I want to see others too.

MarthaDunstable · 23/08/2018 08:59

DD is still sleeping like a log. I’m losing my mind.

Love your name OzymandiasFanClub. We’re relying on the power of Oz to save DD from having to retake English despite a panic attack in one of the papers. Hope it comes right for your DS in the end.

Ellapaella · 23/08/2018 09:00

DS has just gone into school with his friends to get his. They are going out for breakfast afterwards so sitting on my hands here waiting for the call!
Good luck everyone .

MayhemandMadness01 · 23/08/2018 09:01

Dd has just gone into school to get them. I'm sitting in car outside feeling very sick right now

nogrip · 23/08/2018 09:01

OP, make sure you update us once you know

Solomonbitestheworm · 23/08/2018 09:12

Great to hear Bombay have a great day celebrating!
Good luck keep !!
Waiting till 10 when she can collect with her friends.
My house is now spotlessGrin

Solomonbitestheworm · 23/08/2018 09:13

I have 3 nervous teenagers here now, 2 in tears, my daughter still very relaxed, I’m a mess!!

Solomonbitestheworm · 23/08/2018 09:14

Good luck to everyone waiting!

scrumplepaper · 23/08/2018 09:16

Mine just smashed her predicted grades out of the park, and has performed far far far above what was expected of her.

Am stunned. (and in tears)

DottyDotAgain · 23/08/2018 09:19

Eugh. I've taken the day off work I'm so nervous - but ds won't let me go in with him, or even drive and wait outside! So I'm relying on him taking a photo of the results and texting them... Hmm

They get theirs at 10am and he's just sat here eating his breakfast cool as anything......

AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH......

Cantchoosenickname · 23/08/2018 09:20

Mine is going in at 10am. I’m a mess, she’s busy doing her hair and snap chatting! She could’ve had them by now but decided to wait for her friends.

We’re hoping for 5s but she’s not confident she’s even got that for a few of them.

Solomonbitestheworm · 23/08/2018 09:22

Ah scrumple that’s brilliant, well done to her! They’ll be masses of tears here no matter what!!

MarthaDunstable · 23/08/2018 09:24

Thank god for that. DD exceeded her mock results by two or three grades in almost every subject, and she doesn’t have to retake Eng Lit. Thank god for Ozymanias.

Chocolatecake12 · 23/08/2018 09:24

Breakfasts eaten, they’ve just left! Nervously waiting now.....

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 09:25

She phoned!

High fives all round. She passed them all. Her lowest mark was a 5. Three 6s (incl for the necessary maths), 3 x 7s, one 8, one grade A and she got a 9.

scrumplepaper · 23/08/2018 09:25

We were praying she would get english and maths to get in to college. she has smashed it

TheHobbitMum · 23/08/2018 09:27

I'm here waiting on DD & DS results gulp! College interviews start in 30mins too, good luck everyone

TheHobbitMum · 23/08/2018 09:28

Excellent news scrumpler!

busyboysmum · 23/08/2018 09:31

my son has done brilliantly and is in the 6th form - so delighted. Celebrations can start. Good luck to everyone else.
