GCSE results - kinda hoping I'm not alone.

Anyone else can't sleep? I didn't go to bed til 1ish last night, but I've already been awake over an hour.

DDog is horrified that I'm up so early (and it's raining here).

Where I am it's 2 hours til grade boundaries released (which I still don't totally understand, but we're hoping for low) and 3 hours til she gets her results. Kettle's on.

Straight 9s and A*s here - absolutely over the moon!!

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 23/08/2018 07:40

DS did maths, media studies and geography last term, in yr 10.

I am shitting myself about maths. I’m furious that they did it a year early. It was just the top set that took it early which seems absolutely fucking backwards to me but whatever.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 23/08/2018 07:41

Oh and he has to go in for his results at 10am.

LoniceraJaponica · 23/08/2018 07:43

How come some of you already have results? At DD's school they will not put them online, text or email them. The student or an authorised person has to collect them or they are posted.

Flowers to those of you whose DC have had a difficult time.

Tryingforsleepthief2 · 23/08/2018 07:45

@LoniceraJaponica my school is the same. Teachers are allowed in at 9 to get results for our classes and students allowed in at 10

Tryingforsleepthief2 · 23/08/2018 07:47

@KeepServingTheDrinks better if the whole country struggled with maths as it means grade boundaries will be lower as less people will have got top marks

Aragog · 23/08/2018 07:48

Good luck everyone.

I keep telling myself that what will be will be. We will deal with any issues. And in a few hours it'll be over and dealt with anyway.

But oh dear god. I feel sick! I've been awake ages. No hint of movement in DD's room. I know she's nervous, but so far bit awake it seems.

I have no idea what to expect. Dd had seemingly so many blips in the run up what with cancelled coursework part way through (after spending hours doing it), a mistake with a science paper, the wrong history paper sent meaning an hour's delay, a nightmare English poetry question, and going blank half way through the language oral exam. I just need it over now!

I was never this stressed before getting any of my own exams ever!!

sashh · 23/08/2018 07:48

Ds (3) has gone with him to work 'to see the big boys and girls wif their geecees

That's so sweet, I bet they will make a big fuss of him.

I just had a crap night;s sleep but I did have some company, so here is a spiny interlude to keep you going.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 07:55

Another one waiting for ds to wake up after having strict instructions not to wake him. Stop me some one... We can be in school for 8.30.

OzymandiasFanClub · 23/08/2018 08:01

Kind words Coola, much appreciated.

busyboysmum · 23/08/2018 08:04

My son needs 60 to get into his grammar school 6th form. I'm going to work shortly and he's going to call me with the words "yes" hopefully. Then I'll hear the breakdown but that's less important. I just want him to get in the 6th form.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 08:05

DD said she'd be up at 8 to check the boundaries and leave for school at 8:30. So far, no sign. DH is getting up, I can hear him.
Bloody bloody bloody DD sleeping well.........

@ozymandiasFanClub we are in the same situation. He might pass maths. He based his English exam on gnomeo and Juliet and did his science exam in 4.5 minutes. I'm more nervous about visiting college after as hes currently unmedicated. So it's like taking a 6ft toddler on a bus into a busy place he doesn't want to be!!!

He might surprise us though 😬😬😬

Chocolatecake12 · 23/08/2018 08:08

Ds and his best friend have just woken up - I can hear them chatting! I think they’re looking at the grade boundaries as they’ve just been released.
I’m going to cook them a full English then they’re heading to school to collect their results.
My Niece and nephew are the same age so also collecting theirs today.
And my dp’s step daughter.
Thinking of them all.

EdWinchester · 23/08/2018 08:10

Feeling anxious for my lovely ds. He is still asleep.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/08/2018 08:15

I can't believe my DD is still asleep.

I'm seriously considering waking her up... She needs to be at school at 9. She WANTS to be at school at 9. I'll give her another 10 minutes

CrAzYmUmOf2 · 23/08/2018 08:15

We have to wait till 930, and have to go in to school to get them.
Been awake for ages.
I'm trying to think positive and hope that she's nailed it, but she is SEN and tbh I don't think it's gonna be great.
Maybe 1s and 2s at a push.
I'd be over the moon if there were a 3/4 in there.....
1 hr and 15 mins to go Shock

Derekmorganwasinmybed · 23/08/2018 08:38

Well that’s my dd gone to school, nervous wait now

Linus33 · 23/08/2018 08:41

Another one on tenterhooks this morning while DS snores away!

We're on hols waiting for an email from the school but stupidly I forgot to ask what time to expect it! Looking at this thread, I guess it could be anytime from 8am to after 10am.

Good luck everyone and can see that there have already been some amazing results but encouraged that if it all goes tits-up there are other routes!

SnowyAlps · 23/08/2018 08:41

🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼For all of you, and Flowers for results so far!!!! Just remember it seems like everything at the moment, however we collected ds A-Levels results last week, and I’m ashamed to say I can no longer remember his GCSE results, except he had As, Bs and Cs. It really isn’t the B all or end all.

Also to add what a previous poster mentioned about choosing A-Levels, ds and friends chose some that they got A’s in at GCSEs and got Cs and Ds in that subject at A-Level, still pass’ and still enough for university! They found the jump far greater than they imagined. So definitely choose strong subjects!!!

tumpymummy · 23/08/2018 08:43

Checking in and feeling emotional! Tears already (from me!). DS has to go in to get his and I Am not allowed in either! Am worried that I won't say the right thing if he hasn't done as well as expected.

Tinklewinkle · 23/08/2018 08:46

Well mine is up and just had a complete sobbing breakdown so we’ve patched up her make up and she’s gone to meet her friends.

I’m just sitting here waiting now

I’ve never had my fingers crossed so tightly

Hope everyone gets the results they want 🤞

IllBeAtTheBarIfYouNeedMe · 23/08/2018 08:47

Dd wants to go in for 10am but as yet still no movement from her room. I’m rather loath to wake her but I know she’ll want to do the fluffing and preening that apparently must be done before any public appearance Grin

Just ordered her a McDonald’s breakfast so I’ll wake her with that when it arrives. It’s the easiest way
