Girls were finally allowed to wear grey cords at my school in winter when I was 15. I have never worn a skirt in winter since.

Remember fluorescent clothing?

Who on earth thought THAT was a good fashion choice!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/08/2018 16:05

But nobody would ever lose you!

The t shirts that would change colour with your body heat.
They were grim

iklboo · 21/08/2018 16:18

In ye olden days (early / mid 80s) girls weren't even allowed to wear tights at our school, never mind if it was freezing outside. Over the knee socks was the most they would relent to.

Did anybody wear those socks with individual toes?

Did PSB just call my thread tacky and grim?
I do believe she DID!!

But PSB, that was actually a really nice thing to do. Thank you.

Anyway, your future wife put me up to it.

I think Torn and I have agreed there's no long-term future in it (although, I'd still be up for the wedding if it meant getting my mitts on all those cracking gifts!).

This isn't my story, but a friend of mine used to tell that when she was in school, the school used to insist that the girls all wore "flesh coloured tights", until one day a girl put her hand up and said "excuse me. Who's flesh colour?" I think the school went quite quiet on that one after that!

KeepServingTheDrinks · 21/08/2018 16:35

iklboo those individual toe socks make me feel slightly sick. It's like I can (imagine) feel wool rubbing on wool. It is not a pleasant sensation!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/08/2018 16:37

who's flesh colour? Smart girl. 😂

Speaking of futures and nostalgia...
I happened to bump into an old friend recent I had lost touch with.
It turned out he had been involved in a minor car accident a few years ago which has resulted in him having to wear a neck brace 24/7. He claims the accident gave him a new perspective, and subsequently he's never looked back.

... waits for the penny to drop.

CustardOmlet · 21/08/2018 17:32

@Iklboo I loved my toe socks!!!

Shampaincharly · 21/08/2018 19:45

I had the toe socks . Hated them .

Shampaincharly · 21/08/2018 19:53

Does any one remember Meri- mate.?
It was lemonade in a plastic tube thing .

TornFromTheInside · 21/08/2018 20:18

Charly, have you been on the medication again?

SneakyGremlins · 21/08/2018 20:20

Torn, that was an absolutely terrible joke that I grinned at

TornFromTheInside · 21/08/2018 20:29

Cheers mate! You're as twisted as I am for noticing!

SneakyGremlins · 21/08/2018 20:55
Grin

also don't mind toe socks

BertrandRusselI · 21/08/2018 21:00

Was Meri-mate the stuff in a plastic container that had a top like a can, with ringpull? And a picture of a dog on a hat on it?

SneakyGremlins · 21/08/2018 21:01

I've never heard of it Bertrand but it sounds interesting Grin

Singlenotsingle · 21/08/2018 21:03

Torn strikes again!

TornFromTheInside · 21/08/2018 21:03

Seemingly 'Meri_Mate' was a brand - like Schweppes and they made lots of different drinks - usually soft drinks.

TornFromTheInside · 21/08/2018 21:05

I once tasted a Merry Mate - but we never mentioned it again, it was a one off and we were both drunk.
