A song that really touched your soul?

I just stumbled upon a song on youtube for the first time and it made me feel so many emotions that i just cant explain.

The song was 'sailing' by Christopher Cross.

Stay With Me - Ironik

Great thread. YY to lots already mentioned, Hope There's Someone, Into My Arms, This Woman's Work, Song To The Siren.

Where Is My Mind by The Pixies stopped me in my tracks the first time I heard it.

Who knows where the time goes by Sandy Denny, 1952 Vincent Black Lightning by Richard Thompson and Meet on the ledge by Fairport. All of them are just breathtaking.

And not usually my thing at all but In The Deep by Bird York makes me weep. Very cathartic.

Song for Guy (life, isn't everything) Elton John.

So many Leonard Cohen songs, but especially Night Comes On. There's a line in it 'I said Mother, I'm frightened, the thunder and the lightning, I'll never come through this alone. She said I'll be with you, my shawl wrapped around you, my hand on your head when you go.'

I had it on my playlist when I was giving birth to DS last year and the birth was pretty traumatic. I kept thinking about this wee boy, and how I needed to bring him into the world safely. Getting a lump in my throat thinking about it now.

Also Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. DSis recently broke up with her longterm partner and was in such a bad way. This song popped up on shuffle and when I heard the line 'I've been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you' I burst out crying because I was so sad for DSis and the life she had thought she would have.

The first time I heard Regina Spector - Laughing With, I was so emotional and I just stopped what I was doing and listened to the song and cried. I was grieving deeply at the time so that probably contributed but it was so powerful.

wrapsuperstar · 16/08/2018 23:23

Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens. I am a huge fan of his anyway but when I first heard this song I was almost knocked flat. It still affects me like that. Bloody beautiful.

JakePeraltaNYPD · 16/08/2018 23:24

Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son. Supernatural was the first time I heard it and it still gets me

wejammin · 16/08/2018 23:25

Make you feel my love by Adele. Not my kind of music normally at all. I heard it when I was 12 weeks pregnant with DC1. I was having a real wobble about being pregnant and whether I could cope, worrying about money etc. I was driving to work when it came on the radio and I had to pull over because I started to cry. All of the lyrics are exactly about the most important thing a baby needs, to feel love. I still can't listen to it without seeing DC1's tiny newborn face.

elaine26 · 16/08/2018 23:25
