A song that really touched your soul?

I just stumbled upon a song on youtube for the first time and it made me feel so many emotions that i just cant explain.

The song was 'sailing' by Christopher Cross.

Coming Around Again by Carly Simon.

Carly Simon really affected me when I was in my twenties, long before the content of what she sings about was really relevant.

Lover, You Should’ve Come Over by Jeff Buckley. Makes me tingle all over.

Oh L'Amour, tbf I played it at dad's funeral so it was never going to start a rave for me lol we would listen to Erasure for hours in the car. Loved us some eighties cheese.
I never knew that Kate Bush sang This Woman's Work! What a video.

Graffiti on the Train by Stereophonics.

Absolutely ruins me when I listen to it. I just burst into tears!

I do love it though.

Not a song, but Craig Armstrong's Balcony Scene from Romeo and Juliet. Beautiful yet heartbreaking too. Holds s lot of very personal, sad memories for me.

Find the River by R.E.M. ‘watch the road and memorise this life that pass before my eyes. Nothing is going my way’

I’m working my way through all of these! What a brilliant thread. Mumsnet should release an album of these. We could all vote for the songs that leave you speechless.

I’m always so grateful for these threads, I find out about music I never would have heard otherwise.

Some great songs already mentioned. For me, it's Cold as Christmas by Elton John. I can listen to it over and over.

Nothing compares 2u - Sinead O Connor.

It came out in 1990 just as I broke up with an old boyfriend. I bought it and played it on repeat while I sobbed my 17 year old heart out.

Local boy in the photograph- stereophonics "there's no escape, I smell that smell"
Hope there's someone- Anthony and the Johnsons "Oh I'm scared of that middle place-Between light and nowhere"
Broken- Jake Bugg " my heart beats, for you,Have become, all I love, And all I hoped for. But I, must carry on"

Fascinating thread
Mine is Wires by Athlete.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 17/08/2018 22:29

Count On Me by Bruno Mars.

Not really my type of singer but DS3 learned this is sign language. I went to his school assembly, and watching him with his eyes shining as he sang and signed, so proud of himself and happy that I was there - honestly I cried in that assembly like a bloody idiot.

I can’t sing along when it comes on because I crack on the lyrics. I get so emotional Blush

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 17/08/2018 22:29

I wish I could edit.

Meant to add, it just feels like such a lovely connection between me and my youngest boy.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 17/08/2018 22:39

However the latest song that stops me in my tracks is Familiar by Agnes Obel. It is haunting. I heard it on the Netflix series Dark (totally worth a watch btw) and have listened to it so much. I can’t explain why I love it so much.

Shorley Wall Ooberman. Sophia's spoken bit in the middle sounds like she's close to tears. Reminds me of nights in the 90's doing my college work to the Evening session on R1
