A song that really touched your soul?

I just stumbled upon a song on youtube for the first time and it made me feel so many emotions that i just cant explain.

The song was 'sailing' by Christopher Cross.

Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday.

Absolutely haunting.

CindyCrawford2 · 16/08/2018 15:24

Iris - The Goo Goo Dolls
and Song to the Siren - This Mortal Coil (especially when watching The Lovely Bones - absolutely heartbreaking)

Emma765 · 16/08/2018 15:29

There will be time by Mumford and Sons and Baaba Maal. His voice is so beautiful.

GrouchyKiwi · 16/08/2018 15:35

Agree with Strange Fruit but also I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free. Just so moving and intense.

Clouds by Zach Sobiech. A young lad dying of cancer wrote this and it makes me cry every time.

"if only I had a little bit more time with you..."

James - Moving On - you have to watch the video for full impact. I haven’t done a hyperlink for ages so hope that works.

Also Glasvegas, A Snowflake Fell, absolutely floored me and still does. But I can only listen to it in December.

Arrowfanatic · 16/08/2018 16:18

Always by Bon Jovi

Rule The World by Take That because my grandad loved it and I sang it at his funeral. Struggled to hold it together and now when I hear it I think of him.

I want to know what love is by the foreigners, just a song that hits in the feels.

True colours, pretty much by anyone (yes even the Trolls version) just such a lovely song.

I have three
Winterwood by Don McLean - discovered in my Mum's pile of old vinyl

Nick Drake, Northern Sky - reminds me of university

And this cover of Don't Think Twice It's Alright I found on youtube a few weeks ago - the fact two boys can sing this with such meaning & emotion was amazing to me!

Torvi · 16/08/2018 16:37

@LittleMachine I used to adore James but have never seen or heard that one before. I just had to leave the room before I cried in front of my DD. How beautiful!

bellinisurge · 16/08/2018 16:42

The Fear by Lily Allen.

LikeARedBalloon · 16/08/2018 16:56

When you dream by the Bare Naked Ladies.
Singing my song by Christina Aguilera.
Both will reduce me to tears instantly ☹

LittleMachine · 16/08/2018 17:10

Torvi, isn’t it beautiful?

GenderApostate · 16/08/2018 17:37

The night will always win - Elbow
Missing - Everything but the girl
Between the Wars - Billy Bragg

MeetOnTheLedge · 16/08/2018 17:43

Littlemachine - I haven't listened to James for years now but was a huge fan in the 80s. Why So Close very nearly made my list posted earlier.

@LarryFreakinStylinson very similar here for me as well. Hadn't really clicked what the lyrics were until I went to the concert a week after my mom had died.

I just sat there with sobbing, DD3 just held my hand and let me just disintegrate. Such a perfect but very hard song.

Thanks for your loss.

MegCleary · 16/08/2018 18:06

@Deathraystare his album is fab. But that song.....

MalloryLaurel · 16/08/2018 18:12

Disturbed's version of The Sound of Silence.
Evanescence Back to Life.
At Last Etta James.
The Mission Tower of Strength.
There's one by Mozart that is in the film Amadeus. It starts with a landlady screaming at him, and turns into an oboe. It's just beautiful.

buckingfrolicks · 16/08/2018 18:25

Will You Hazel O'Connor - sax solo gives me shivers and goosebumps

Shipbuilding - Elvis Costello
