I think he's just a dick!

TheAntiBoop · 18/06/2016 19:47

And one of only average intelligence, despite his protestations!

ApocalypseNowt · 18/06/2016 20:10

Nothing to do with anything but I used to try and stalk Daniel Craig. He was seeing a woman who lived in a village near me so every sunday i'd make my now DH drive me to the local village pub.

I'd sit in a corner with a good view of the door so i could see if Mr Bond came in.

Sometimes after the roast and too many g&ts I'd make DH drive me round the village to look at the big houses in case Daniel was in the garden.

Never did see him but I only really covered sundays from 1 till half 4ish.

As you were....

raisedbyguineapigs · 18/06/2016 20:16

That Maxine Peake quote is great! i think the same about Stephen Fry. If he really is that intelligent, what a waste to be smuggy mc smugface reading off an autocue when he could be doing important things. I dont doubt that actors have to have hides like rhino's to take all the rejection and confident and determined and be brilliant at remembering lines. I love watching films, going to the theatre and watching telly more than most other things, so I love them for entertaining me and making my life a little brighter, but its not rocket science Grin

ApocalypseNowt · 18/06/2016 20:21

Fuuuuuuuck MitzyLeFrouf..! Are you stalking me...?

HOW DID YOU GET THAT PICTURE????? Angry

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 18/06/2016 20:21

I looked at this thread as I like Taylor Swift,, but who the hell is Tom Hiddleston,m and Eddie Redmayne?? Are they really what passes for famous actors nowadays?? I have NEVER heard of them.

Taylor just needs to find a nice woman to settle down with.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 18/06/2016 20:41

To be fair, a lot of them are v intelligent, a lot come from Cambridge Footlights but not Benedict. They get a taste of fame, and go for that instead of brain surgery or whatever.

Ben Miller, who spends a lot of time playing the fool, seems to have a v good understanding quantum physics and was being v clever and funny on R4. He (started) a PHD in physics. Or it might be Alexander Armstrong.

You're all going to tell me you know him and he's a dick now, aren't you?

MrsJayy · 18/06/2016 20:47

You are right its Ben Miller think i saw him on something say he was going for his Doctorite

raisedbyguineapigs · 18/06/2016 21:17

Yes, Ben Miller is a physicist and is very clever! But funnily enough, he doesnt pretend to be some kind of genius, like Stephen Fry and BC. He just is a clever bloke. Isn't the curly haired one from Queen a PhD in physics too?

freshprincess · 18/06/2016 21:28

Grin at Apocalypse's half hearted stalking of Daniel Craig.

TheAntiBoop · 18/06/2016 21:40

It's like anything in life - those who talk the biggest game often have the least to show

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 18/06/2016 21:55

Yes, you're right - raisedby. He doesn't try to "be" intelligent. He just is.That's the difference!

Apocolypse - do you live in the same village as ? Grin

weirdsister · 18/06/2016 22:16

Oh I have a science book by Ben Miller and he writes about his interview for Cambridge in it - but not at all in a boasty way. He seems really lovely and down to Earth.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 18/06/2016 22:41

Oh FFS. I do the right honourable thing and take my hooligans to the park and while my back's turned you post deletable gossip?!! Grin
If anyone would care to pm me the scoop on tom hoop I'd be very grateful. Please. This IS my only sodding entertainment, a sleb twaddle fix. DH has "man flu", DD deigns to talk to me once a week, DC2 and 3 only want to recite me the names of my little ponies.

DaleMaily · 18/06/2016 22:41

I think they once had Ben miller on the robin ince thing on radio 4, is it infinite monkey cage? Or something. And he read out the title of his doctorate and it was v impressive sounding, though mainly probably because I know nothing about quantum physics.

I love Elaine figgis!

Some people think BC is in competition with ER, or certainly was when it came to the Oscars last year. But to the extent that BC got married and had a baby for the good PR so I'm not sure I quite agree...

Dozer · 19/06/2016 00:23

Apocalypse, did your DH get into the buzz of the daniel craig stalking too, because otherwise that seems to be stretching marital devotion!

Bambambini · 19/06/2016 00:36

Brian May has a PhD in Astrophysics! Shocker!

ApocalypseNowt · 19/06/2016 08:02

Dozer He wasn't really bothered to be fair but it was a very nice pub that did very nice roasts so it wasn't that hard to persuade him. Win Win.

Cocolepew · 19/06/2016 09:00

I remembered a Tom Hiddleston story this morning , unfortunately its not salacious or damning.
He was filming in the town next to me a few summers ago, he had already filmed as Loki so once it hit social media all the Marvel nerds went running.
He was filming in a disused leisure center and when he came out he spent hours signing things and getting photos with the fans.
Apparently he was charming, funny and patient.

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/06/2016 09:19

Yes that's it. Brian May. Apparently he did a bit, then left to be in Queen for 40 years or something, then went back to finish it 😁

Bambambini · 19/06/2016 09:22

Good for him, i think that's quite inspirational.
