Realise it's always gone on, but don't understand why someone as successful, talented and wealthy as TS would need or want a fake relationship - perhaps an naive.

it's so depressing that sportspeople, actors, musicians, still, in 2016, have to pretend publicly to be straight in order to succeed in their work.

I don't think speculation about people's sexuality is helpful - that just seems to indirectly feed into the homophobia somehow.

So large markets are homophobic and the large creative industries (largely US) businesses and football clubs etc pander to this and expect "the talent" to do likewise. mind you these industries don't give a shit about equality in general, as evidenced by the sexism, ageism, racism etc that slebs have commented on and things like the Bechdel test for film make clear. And yet we keep paying for their products.

Can I just say I love this thread.

I hate that TS gets called all manner of names for her dating history but I do think these pics are definitely off. It's like a catalogue photoshoot.

Also, weirdly, it's made me go right off TH. I used to LOVE him but call me fickle, this has just made everything he says/does seem incredibly fake somehow? Maybe I'm being mean. I'm pretty sure if he rocked those snake hips in front of me I'd probably still collapse in a dribbling mess.

I agree it's sad that actors and musicians can't be more open, HUGE kudos to Will Young who must have faced a lot of pressure in his early days to remain in the closet. I think people loved him all the more for coming out. Same goes for the lovely Tom Daley - brave, and all credit to him.

Well that's the thing - none of us know what's really happening do we? We don't know if CH is pissed off. We don't know if Tiddles is fake or real.

But let's just say that CH is pissed off - wouldn't you be equally pissed off if your ex publicly flaunted her new fling 2 weeks after you split, or she engaged in a fake PR fling to make you jealous? - both equally bad in my opinion.

I think this is a weird and massive miss step for the usually very, very media Savvy Swift. I'm a huge fan of hers, think she is a fab role model (I love 15 and wish someone had sung it when I was a teen) and don't give a stuff about who she sleeps with or when. I don't even care about the bearding.

But the obvious fake Tiddles pics just dont work. What narrative is it adding to? TS is over CH? TS can have any man she wants? I don't get it and don't think it has played as she expected.

Yeah that makes sense, an afternoon's work frolicking with TH and BAM, she's all over the gossip news and gives her a break for a bit.

But I also agree with Jan that it's a massive mis-step, it would have worked a lot better with someone younger and more relevant to her pop scene..

And for TH I think it's a HUGE career fuck up. I thought he was all about trying to be taken seriously as the professional Bond-tryer, sexy posh man du jour. While I would totally and utterly watch Idris Elba as Bond (because Idris Elba!) I don't want him to be the new Bond. Because James Bond is vile. He's a narcissistic sociopath with a side order of deeply ingrained sexism. It would probably be great for his career but I think he can do much better. Not that I know anything of course.

Yeah I'm leaning towards thinking Idris is too good and too sexy to be Bond. I also think he's too old - presumably they would hope that anyone signing up for Bond now would be good for a run of films over the next 6 years or so. So they need to start with a younger guy I think.

I also think Idris could do better than being typecast as Bond. I agree he needs his own franchise, a la Bourne. We need more of the Elba on our screens!

I think the narrative is meant to be that she's no longer the little girl who writes sad break up songs. No! It's a relatively amicable break up and then she moves on. Not only is she winning at music, and at #GirlSquads, but at dating too. But she's not an over sexed flumpet. She has found someone who truly respects her and gives her his jacket. Teenage girls can continue to look up to her.
