I'm really not media savvy but don't like snide speculation about people's sexuality.

So posters are saying that TS and/or some of the men she's been pictured with are gay, and seeking to hide this because of homophobia and the impact this would have on their careers. And that "the deal" for fake gf/bfs (usually less famous) is either reciprocal (if they too are gay) or that they get fame/media attention, benefiting their careers.

But isn't TS mega rich and successful already? Why would she want to be a "beard" for someone less famous? And if she were gay herself, is she not successful enough to be "out", or is homophobia too prevalent to make being open and maintaining a career difficult even for the very successful?

I like Eric Bana. But he, too, is too old at 47. Same as what paula said about Idris. They want a few films from each one. Timothy Dalton was 43 but only did two films (although arguably was the stop gap til Pierce was released from Remington Steele).

It's weird, in the music business it's acceptable to be gay but in the acting world it would still appear to be career suicide. Rupert Everett said that his advice to another gay actor would be to stay in the closet. Which is really sad and quite depressing. By the law of averages a good chunk of well known actors must surely be gay but I'm hard pushed to think of any openly gay actors beyond Zachary Quinto who played Spock in the Star Trek re-boot.

Richard Chamberlain, heartthrob, did not come out for years and advises fellow actors not to either. Because of lack of roles coming your way/typecasting etc
Barry Manilow did not marry his partner Barry for years. Because it was kind of an open secret but also because his fan base demographic was/is mainly knicker-throwing middled aged women.
It's still a huge deal for the music and film industry. Shouldn't be but there it is.
Think of how many openly gay A list mainstream actors you have....

I've no idea if TS herself is gay but she seems like someone who is super controlling of her own image so who knows if she merely thinks being seen with 'hot celeb of the moment' X will be beneficial to her career or whether she wants to portray a straight lifestyle.

I think this is a double bluff. They're probably dancing shagging like rabbits whilst everyone else thinks it's just a PR stunt. TH may be fame hungry ambitious, but he's not stupid.

The photos don't ring true though but that doesn't mean nothing's going on. I read a really good interview with him in Esquire and got the impression that he's a bit emotionally detached. He certainly didn't come across as someone who'd lay his head on someone's shoulders or put a coat round their shoulders!

Although there are > openly gay musicians (Well done Will Young for not being part of the Cowell machine) boy band members are still expected to fit a heterosexual available mold. Some musicians with partners do not address it as they still wish to seem 'available' to their fans.
Maybe with gender fluidity being more prevalent now, that situation is changing.

In the snog shots TH seems to be wearing exactly the same clothes that he was wearing when he got on the private jet. Right down to the grey shoes. You're not telling me that he wears the same outfit twice.

chica you have a point. I read that he split up with his long-term girlfriend to focus on his career, as that needed all his energy and if he didn't give his all, someone else would and take his place.

It looks like Taylor had her head turned at the Met Ball Gala, and ditched Calvin for Tom. Not particularly nice to rub his nose in it.

I think we forget that a lot of money now comes from far eastern markets where homosexuality would not be as accepted. I think there are still a lot of entertainers and footballers forced into the closet because of that.

Which is sad.

Ben Wishaw is openly Gay. There must be more but I can't think of any. I think that the film studios are so conservative that they are scared of anyone not seeing their film because there is a Gay lead. I think the Taylor/ Tom thing is more about 2 very ambitious people making a publicity mistep than hiding anything, but statistically there must be loaf's of secretly Gay actors.
