Exactly! I mean, it's lovely that they're happy and all but I am extremely Hmm at the age gap and the fact they've not been seeing each other all that long.

Nerf · 06/01/2015 22:29

What's the age gap? Thought SF was asexual?

Pico2 · 06/01/2015 22:30

I'm very pleased for them if they are happy - but I am yet to see a photo of the fiance looking happy.

StormBraver · 06/01/2015 22:33

Nerf the age gap is 30 years - SF is 57, his fiance is 27 (I think).

lyspaere · 06/01/2015 22:36

There was a picture of the fiance staring at Jimmy Carr with big eyes and a dreamy expression though.

It's.His.CHOICE. Don't be such bitches about it. It doesn't concern you.

scarletforya · 06/01/2015 22:39

They look all wrong together somehow.

Pico2 · 06/01/2015 22:40

Surely it is their choice, not just his.

JeffVaderRunsTheDeathStar · 06/01/2015 22:41

Don't start twisting my words.

ProcrastIWillFinishThisLater · 06/01/2015 22:43

Aw I hope they are happy, I love Stephen Fry. His fiance does look a miserable bugger in all the photos I've seen, but maybe it's just 'resting bitch face', or he is pissed off that his photo is being taken.

calzone · 06/01/2015 22:43

Dh wondered if the attraction was SF's Bentley.....GrinSmile

I am deeply shocked because SF seems like such an intelligent man.....not saying he is not in love.....

.....I was just as shocked when Michael Douglas married Catherine Zeta Jones!

FamiliesShareGerms · 06/01/2015 22:47

I hope they're really happy together

stareatthetvscreen · 06/01/2015 22:47

grim

mrscumberbatch · 06/01/2015 22:47

Oh FFS.

I'm 29 and I have met many an attractive man over 50 that I'd be happy to be in a relationship with.

(Sorry DP, but he's met them too and agrees that they are attractive/fun.)

Age is mostly meaningless now.
We are living in a time where 50 year old women are having babies, 30 year olds haven't moved out of mum and dads and nobody knows when 'middle aged' actually is anymore.

AnyFucker · 06/01/2015 22:48

No fool like an old fool, eh

lyspaere · 06/01/2015 22:48

Yeh, I'm shocked also because I thought he was really intelligent. Oscar Wilde's downfall was similar!

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 06/01/2015 22:48

So tell me, what exactly do you find attractive in the millionaire Stephen Fry? Grin

(He may not be a millionaire, but I bet he's not short of a few bob!)

lyspaere · 06/01/2015 22:49

Age is not meaningless.

OP posts:
SwedishEdith · 06/01/2015 22:51

I thought it was photo of SF with Jake Bugg before I read the story.

mrscumberbatch · 06/01/2015 22:52

If this was an older man with a younger trophy wife nobody would think twice about it.

Also, it's Stephen Fry. I find his witty repartee very attractive.

If he was a classically handsome man, again, would anybody question this?

AnyFucker · 06/01/2015 22:53

yes

hmc · 06/01/2015 22:54

SF is clever, funny, engaging, erudite - these things can be attractive

MakeMeWarmThisWinter · 06/01/2015 22:55

Haha middleagedmotheroftwo you beat me to it Grin

I don't like SF anyway, I find him unbearably smug and can't turn the channel fast enough when QI and its boys' club fnar fnar humour comes on the telly.

lyspaere · 06/01/2015 22:58

they'd question it less if he were at least handsome and in good shape. That's katie Hopkins shoot from the hip honesty I guess but there you go.

however, I find it harder to believe that a young gay man would be attracted to an ageing overweight man who was never attractive than I would find it to believe that a woman could be attracted to the personality of a man with that physicality. JMO

mrscumberbatch you're only 29 I see! I'm in my 40s and I've dated a man in his fifties who was in better shape than SF and tbh I got a bit of a shock when I saw him naked. I can only imagine a young 27 year old would have felt the urge to run from the room, screaming with his hands in the air shreiking help me help me there's a monster in there.

I'm being flippant. 50% flippant. 50 % deadly serious Wine

lyspaere · 06/01/2015 22:59

apologies for using the word physicality. I've had a drink
