Didn't SF say some rather dodgy things about women and their place a couple of years ago ?

some short memories around....

lyspaere · 06/01/2015 23:02

He did. He said women don't like sex. SYmpathised with straight men I think.

HOW he would know that I don't know.

Hmm have just googled pictures. Would be the first to say age gap doesn't matter etc, but I will be honest and say my gut reaction, for what it's worth, was that the pictures are a bit uncomfortable to look at. Iam sure SF would not give a flying fuck what I think, but for some reason, just .. hmm.

hmc · 06/01/2015 23:02

Did he? I can't forget something I never heard in the first instance!

MakeMeWarmThisWinter · 06/01/2015 23:03

Yep women don't like sex apparently so he feels sorry for straight men

lyspaere · 06/01/2015 23:05

His understand was clearly that there is only male sexuality. That was a bit woman-hatey and perhaps I've not forgiven him for his strange views.

Think it was these comments. Interestingly, he was seeing a 25 year old at the time.

mrscumberbatch · 06/01/2015 23:05

Lyspeare- I couldn't give a shiny shite about 'perfect bodies'.

I'd have a fucking cheek if I did.

hmc · 06/01/2015 23:05

Bit of a generalisation! Although to be fair, personally I don't like sex

MakeMeWarmThisWinter · 06/01/2015 23:07

I like sex. With my husband, not randoms in Hampstead.

His views are pretty offensive tbh and I think he's an old perv.

DressingGownFrown · 06/01/2015 23:08

To me, the bigger worry is that past suicide attempts have been at the time of relationship break-ups and as a bipolar sufferer surely rushing into marriage is even 'worse' than in a 'normal' person.
Sorry not sure on the pc language.

godofthunder · 06/01/2015 23:22

Why would a women be more likely to fall in love with an unattractive man than a gay guy?

MysticMugBug · 06/01/2015 23:39

I am yet to see a photo of the fiance looking happy
coz the media never lies, right?
It's manipulation, trying to create a scandal where there isn't one.
As long as SF's new partner is over the age of consent, I'm saying
'It's their choice'. It's not for us to read into bitch about it.
Civil partnerships/gay marriage is actually doing great wonders for the modern world.... it opens people's minds and promotes diversity.

MrsJacksonAvery · 06/01/2015 23:42

I am v.excited as they are getting married in the town in which I live! I'm gonna be staking out the registry office in the hope that Hugh Laurier turns up ;-)

MrsJacksonAvery · 06/01/2015 23:42

*Laurie, obvs.

Tribeca10013 · 06/01/2015 23:50

Fry has spoken openly about his low mood, and suicide attempt 2012.he attributes a lot if it too feeling lonely, disconnected.its great hes found love and a new partnership
I hope he and his partner are very happy, and that thers lot of laugher and joy

emeline · 06/01/2015 23:52

They really don't look like a couple, it's true. Give it a few years, maybe Fry will pull a Liberace on the young un, and by 2020 Elliot'll be pink faced, portly, and gleefully unstable, in a nice cardigan, just like his dad husband.

AWholeLottaNosy · 06/01/2015 23:55

I don't really want to comment as I don't know anything about their relationship but WTFF????

HupTwoThreeFour · 07/01/2015 00:29

I find it depressing. and I would say exactly the same thing for an older man marrying a younger woman with that age gap. feels like there is something there that's not quite right.

Iflyaway · 07/01/2015 00:39

I find him smug too and all about me me me.

Wish him lots of happiness - or as my French friend says LOL A ppiness! - with his partner/husband, wonder if he's willing to be nurse in 20 years time....?

Some people just don't do smiley photos.

As for women not liking sex, well, I LOVE it! Maybe his mother was frigid....

Tribeca10013 · 07/01/2015 00:43

Hes an actor of course hes me me me,goes with the territory

noitsbecky · 07/01/2015 00:45

Best sex I ever had was with a fat old man. I was 22. Seriously, he was cracking in bed, effortlessly charming, and we had insane sexual tension. I was so attracted to him.

People aren't always attracted to textbook beauty. You don't have to be 'classically handsome' to pull. It always makes me really sad when people accuse the more typically attractive partner of 'being after something' - why can't they just find the uggo good company?

noitsbecky · 07/01/2015 00:49

Should add - fat old lover was skint, unemployed and a bit of a loser. But he really, really made me laugh and turned me on.

Not everyone has an agenda and it makes me sad to see that old Debbie McGee/Paul Daniels line trotted out time and time again.

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 07/01/2015 00:49

The bloke is 27, not 17, plenty old enough to know his own mind.

JapaneseMargaret · 07/01/2015 01:58

I hope he's OK. To be honest, this seems like the actions of an unstable person.

Not the age gap, per se (although I do judge big age gaps, irrelevant of sex), rather something more general about it, that I can't quite out my finger on...
