'Normal' things that you find really creepy

When I look out of my window at the flat opposite I can see straight through their living room to a window which lets light in from their garden. When it's sunset I find this image really unsettling and eery.

I also get really creeped out by those pin and string pictures that were popular in the 70's:

What odd things spook you?

People in masks. Not just scary Halloween type masks. Any kind of mask. Freaks me out.

False nails

Electric blankets

The umbilical cord being cut by anyone but a midwife or other HCP. I get creeped out when anyone talks about the baby's father or grandmother (or whoever) getting involved. Horrific.

I think the mum should cut through the cord. It's her organ after all.

2 or 3 baked beans sat on a plate.

Food floating in water.

Wet bread. >

"playfighting" between adults

Putting my head underwater, either in the bath, a swimming pool or the sea (especially the sea) It's very lonely down there and I expect Jaws to come hurtling out of the gloom.

Feet hanging off the bottom of the bed. A hand might shoot out from under the bed and grab them.

If I have to use the bathroom at night, I won't look in the mirror.

I know, call the men in white coats

Agree with the foot over the bed thing ginny but raise it to foot out from under the covers...

Yes, the foot must be covered by the covers, to keep it safe.

And duvet up to the neck in case of vampires getting to the neck

Cheerios or any other type of cereal (including dog and cat food) that has expanded due to absorbing milk/water.

Freaks me out

Understairs cupboards

Lying the bath with your ears covered and your hair floating - the moment when you lift your head up.

skin floating on top of warm milk.

Anything touching eyes, like fingers when putting contact lenses in. I'd rather look shite in glasses than touch eyes.

Anyone chewing on wool, like the cuff of a wooly jumper.

Anything underneath me moving when I'm lying down, like when DH pulls the sheet to stop his side being wrinkly. It moves me about and I just can't settle afterwards

Clinking pipes

My feet being trapped or stuck. I hate closed shoes, my feet being fully under the covers, that ride at Alton Towers I think its called Air where they strap your feet down and you go head first

Anyone touching my back when I'm eating

Wet shower curtains sticking to my skin.

Visible bathroom or kitchen products in the window when you pass a random flat or house

Related to that: lots of things pushed up or piled in the window.

Really makes me feel a bit sad and sordid. I have no idea why.

A lone wet hair that has detached from my head, hanging on my arm or hand.

Eating in the dark.

I can't open curtains at night (when it's dark) in case there is a face at the window. How ridiculous is that?!

I hate thatched roofs. Especially if its a low cottage. I think it looks really sinister. I could never live in one! X

Looking into my empty house from outside. If I'm putting the bins out for example,and look into my living room it gives me chills.

Giant machines,sculptures and structures.

Killer whales leaping out of their enclosures. I have a recurring dream in which I enter a room full of giant tanks with sea creatures in them,and an orca always leaps out.

Looking into deep water. Again I expect something huge to leap out at me.

Trains and train stations. I can travel on them,but I'm a bundle of nerves while waiting at the platform. Express trains shooting through terrify me,as does the thought of the live rail,and I'm always worried that I'll see someone jump in front of a train.

Holes with things in them. I can deal with clusters of holes,but as soon as there's something in the holes then I get the shivers.

Large expanses of water like reservoirs.

Really high or big things like those really tall radio towers or huge statues. They freak me out but I can't help looking at pictures of them.

Veins on the back of the hand and at the wrist.

Never mind duvet up to the neck, duvet over head with just eyes peeping out! I remember being called a mole in the dorm on a school trip; 30 years later am still the same! I used to jump off my bed to the doorway without touching the carpet in case the lion under the bed came out.
