Yes, I know it's been said many times and it is totally ignoring his massive achievements and objectifying his deeply sexy shoulders and winning smile but jeez, what am I going to do for Saturday night fantasies from now on?

OP posts:
GreatGretzky · 05/12/2012 12:18

Piers Morgan interview Smile

AmIthatTinselly · 06/12/2012 00:55

Thanks for the link GreatGretzky. A tantalising glimpse of the interview, I can't wait to see the full length version.

I do love the stubble Grin

TheSmallClanger · 06/12/2012 21:43

I found the interview clip itself a little disappointing, if I'm honest. That was Oscar on autopilot - I'd heard the answers before. I wonder if PM asked some more probing or interesting questions later on? He did a Q&A on Twitter the other day and talked about silly stuff, which was good to read because we don't see that side of him as much.

The baby pictures were nice though.

GothAnneGeddes · 06/12/2012 23:50

YY, Small Clanger! It must be very dull for him having to answer the saaame questions. I wanted to see something a bit more incisive.

That's why I really liked the Heat interview he did, because it was all random, silly questions. Likewise the Twitter Q&A*.

*Was oddly pleased to see he drives an automatic, although I suspect it's not because he is too dim to drive a manual, like me.

OscarPistoriusBitontheside · 07/12/2012 13:32

Discovered there's a Kenyan chap on my degree course. He has the same way if saying yes that OP does. You know "ja". Everytime he says it I melt. Grin he's also a sportsman and is also very cute. Grin

AmIthatTinselly · 08/12/2012 14:55

I kind of agree SmallClanger. I am looking forward to seeing the whole interview to see what else he spoke about.

The trouble I now have is that thanks to my increasingly fantastic stalking skills I have seen pretty much everything around and am getting desperate for some new stuff.

I liked the two part Heat thing as well, and yes it was a different side to him. And the twitter Q & A, although was a bit Sad that he didn't answer mine.

But I did get a DM off him last week Blush I was grinning like a maniac all day.

I see that there is a new video on twitter, an aljazeera interview. I will save it for tonight when DD is in bed

GothAnneGeddes · 08/12/2012 15:22

A DM!!!!! Well done! I'm sure it was lovely.

It's a shame they don't have the Big Breakfast interview any more, I would volunteer to interview Oscar. Wink

AmIthatTinselly · 08/12/2012 15:34

it only said "thanks for the support"

But it felt funny knowing that he actually reads tweets. I think he was bored at the airport, as a few other people tweeted that they had DMs.

Made my day though

GothAnneGeddes · 08/12/2012 20:36

It would make my day too . Smile

I hope he does more twitter Q &A's they were a good laugh.

bunchamunchycrunchycarrots · 09/12/2012 10:07

One interview I found fascinating recently was the STV interview (extended version) where he was asked what goes thru his mind when lined up next to able-bodied athletes. His answer showed the highly competitive athlete in him, and just a slight tinge of annoyance that he yet again has to comment on others focus on his disability as opposed to his ability. But all done in that super polite, respectful way OP does. He suddenly got all serious, and you could see he'd make a brilliant coach in how he broke down his mind set when getting ready to run, and thru the race. Smile

TheSmallClanger · 09/12/2012 11:53

Where was that?

I watched the alJazeera interview. It's good. The interviewer, Redi Thlabi, does a good job in pushing him for answers, and handles the Alan O business better than anyone so far. There is also a potty Japanese scientist on there who has made a robot of himself.

bunchamunchycrunchycarrots · 09/12/2012 13:05

It was when he was in Glasgow for his honorary doctorate, and interviewed by the Scotland Tonight programme on STV. I think there might have been a link posted further up the thread, not got time to find it right now. There were small snippets of the interview played on the main national news programmes, but the full interview was on Scotland Tonight.

AmIthatTinselly · 09/12/2012 20:52

The Aljazeera interview was really good. The robot freaked me out a bit, but I liked the interviewer and her questions were a bit different

Lovely pic of him and Ian Thorpe on twitter just now here

GothAnneGeddes · 10/12/2012 15:54

I thought the Al Jazeera interviewer was very good, she managed to not let him get away with any pat answers without appearing intrusive.

As I'm sure you're all aware, he's racing against a racehorse on Wednesday, so I think they'll be plenty of good footage for fans of Athlete Oscar. Wink

AmIthatTinselly · 10/12/2012 19:53

Yes, I'm keen to see how that one works out. I fancy his chances against the horse Xmas Grin

TheSmallClanger · 10/12/2012 21:27

I wonder what distance they're running over? Generally, horses are faster than people, and they do have better acceleration. Also, I'm assuming the horse will have some sort of jockey controlling it.

For some reason, I don't like the idea of Oscar being in the UAE. One of my friends lives there. She used to be normal, now she is absolutely obsessed with money and status, and she has become really, unapologetically racist and everything-else-ist. I'm convinced it is not a progressive or enlightened place, but it's a nasty draw to lots of people. I'm willing to bet lots of money that the only double amputees you see out in public there are begging on street corners.

That picture with Ian Thorpe was on Twitter: oh my POD, how orange is Ian?

GothAnneGeddes · 11/12/2012 00:42

It's true that somewhere like Qatar, won't have the most enlightened attitudes towards disability as compared to the UK (although attitudes are changing slowly though, in Qatar and UAE in particular, there has been a rise in special schools opening and increasing facilities to help children with autism).

That's why I think it's good for Oscar to be there, instead of seeing someone with a disability as an object of pity, they're seeing this gorgeous, hugely successful man and I think he's aware of that too.

Also, I think Oscar's SA posse would keep him in check, if he started changing.

GothAnneGeddes · 12/12/2012 21:28

This a brief look at the year by Google.

A certain person figures rather prominently Smile

GothAnneGeddes · 12/12/2012 21:53

Here's the link, sorry t.co/bQdv5zTj

AmIthatTinselly · 13/12/2012 00:41

Watched the horse racing video. Poor horse got well whipped, I was a bit Sad

Also found this spectacular photo

*swoon I do like a bit of OP stubble Xmas Grin

GreatGretzky · 13/12/2012 13:06

Just watched the horse race video, love the interview afterwards when he's all out of breath, really want the next athletics season to start now!

TheSmallClanger · 14/12/2012 14:03

The haters are trying to stir up trouble about the ill-treatment of the horse. Oscar has spoken out against it - good on him. He couldn't even see what the horse and rider where up to, as they were behind him. To me, it looked like the jockey/rider was incompetent. It was a stud stallion, not a champion racehorse, and they are known for being extremely difficult to ride, even compared to normal racehorses, which are usually very temperamental anyway.

Having said that, I do appreciate the gradual return of Lycra and Sweat Oscar. He posted a v nice b&w training picture the other day, too.

Meglet · 15/12/2012 22:42

Is he coming over for SPOTY? I'm sure he tweeted he was at the airport a day or so ago but didn't see where he was flying to.

AmIthatTinselly · 15/12/2012 22:55

He has just got home from Doha and I'm sure he tweeted that it was the last business trip of the year.

So I don't think he'll be here.

Bloody BBC haven't even included him in the trailer for SPOTY.

Peachesplusone · 16/12/2012 13:17

I hope he's going to surprise up by turning up at SPOTY. I find it a bit odd that he doesn't seem to be involved in the whole thing - I know I'm biased, but he was such an integral part of the Olympics and Paras. I would have thought he'd at least warrant a mention and an invitation.

I watched the trailer several times looking out for him, convinced he'd be there somewhere Sad
