Heaven forfend that I should ever disappoint you. And, of course, I Am Lady Bracknell. What is my reticule if it is not A Haaaaand-bag?

SuperXmassiveLBD · 14/12/2011 23:18

Brackers, my old mate Maud, I hardly know how to break this to you, but your Johnny has taken up blogging Xmas Shock

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 14/12/2011 23:26

The fact that, in the first few sentence, the author confuses where and were reveals that blog to be the work of a semi-literate imposter, and not my dear John who (as we know) is the very model of a gentlemen of taste and learning and thrilling manly physique.

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 14/12/2011 23:29

Besides when, in his hectic schedule of industrial management and Platonic discussion, would my dear Johnnie get time to write a blog?

::smiles fondly at her favourite captain of industry::

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 14/12/2011 23:30

That blog looks very daft interesting - will have to take a look some other time though.

Have just baked, iced & decorated 56 cupcakes for work tomorrow - red velvet with peppermint candy cane buttercream, ginger with lemon icing & Irish coffee flavour.
Tomorrow have to do another 30 for school on Friday.

Still have this weird lurge. Mostly sore throat with a few coughs & sniffles. Feel a bit pants first & last thing but otherwise ok, although it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

HarrysCuddlyChristmasJumper · 14/12/2011 23:31

Hahahahaha @ MrT's Christmas card at the bottom of that blog page. Nice red dress Maudie, but you really should have strong words regarding his head apparel. As we said to Gizzy, it's just not dignified.

Massive, thank you for my lovely picture yesterday. I have just spent many minutes gazing at it in delight.

The fish are very definitely off now. Much as I love them and nice as it is to see them, I do not want them getting under my feet any longer.

HarrysCuddlyChristmasJumper · 14/12/2011 23:35

Oh and Massive, in light of

I just felt relief about, ahem, other people's apparent lack of similar youthful indiscretions,

have you forgotten the horror that is the amazing dancing buffoon?

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 14/12/2011 23:38

To be fair that's not the worst dancing buffoon pic by a long shot!

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 14/12/2011 23:41

Mr Thornton lends dignity to whatever he does.

::Meaningful look::

I fear I must bid you goodnight. My dinner tonight was most convivial but now I need to get some rest and sober up.

Adieu!

SuperXmassiveLBD · 14/12/2011 23:42

The cupcakes sound divine, Spiro. Far more sophisticated from what I usually do, which is usually plain vanilla with the odd Smartie or hundred and thousand. I have even been reduced to shooting them up with Nutella.

My mind boggles at that blog. Fancy devoting a considerable portion of your life rabbiting on about some fictional characters or other, played by this certain person. I don't know what they see in it, TBH. Xmas Confused

Xmas Grin,

SuperXmassiveLBD · 14/12/2011 23:45

Those dancing buffon pics are pretty grim, but at least he's fully clothed, with it.

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 14/12/2011 23:46

::Pauses in the doorway, FWTSNS in hand::

Nutella muffins are considered quite the thing in this house.

::Lurches off towards the boo-dwarr, trying to look alluring::

HarrysCuddlyChristmasJumper · 14/12/2011 23:48

Good point, Massive!

Spiro, I linked to it as it was the first one - I couldn't bear to go through them all again.

SuperXmassiveLBD · 14/12/2011 23:48

Although that begins to break down, on the Vampy Special I suppose.

Do you stuff, Vamps, says the speech balloon.

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 14/12/2011 23:49

I bought a Christmas Cupcakes recipe book a few weeks ago and got a bit carried away! Was going to do mojito ones too, but ended up with lots of RV & ginger ones so didn't bother.

Am looking forward to the Irish coffee ones...Grin

Tomorrow's will be made with Sainsbury's sponge mix & decorated with place icing & sprinkles - tbh I'd have got ready made ones if they had'nt sold out!

HarrysCuddlyChristmasJumper · 14/12/2011 23:50

::snaffles a pile of Spiro's muffins::

SuperXmassiveLBD · 14/12/2011 23:51

Oh bother, that is a really baaad typo. Do *your^ stuff of course

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 14/12/2011 23:51

Nutella muffins sound fab (as are peanut butter & Snickers ones) but my workplace is a completely nut free zone, even in the staff room unfortunately.

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 14/12/2011 23:57

::Staggers back in::

I guess it's a bit late to be talking about this stuff, but the annual exchange of Christmas messages with friends via cards and FB has revealed the following:

One friend's husband killed in tragic, horrible accident
One friend's brother dropped down dead at shockingly young age
One friend just about to have an operation that will save her life but almost certainly leave her unable to walk.

The best news is that another friend's partner had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma but has been given the all clear. I just don't know what to say.

SuperXmassiveLBD · 15/12/2011 00:02

Oh Maud, not the sort of thing you expect to hear along with your Christmas cards. how awful for you all.

There is just nothing to say that makes it any easier, either.

SuperXmassiveLBD · 15/12/2011 00:03

Have some Wine Wine Wine and get some sleep.

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 15/12/2011 00:04

Certainly puts it all in perspective Maud. At least there's some good news in amongst that lot.

I'm nearly asleep in the bath so must call it a night.

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 15/12/2011 00:07

Well, of course, it's not, in the general scheme of things, awful for me, but to have so many reminders in quick succession of the frailty of the human condition has rather knocked me for six.

You're right. I should get to bed. Goodnight all.

IWantSantasNewToyInMyStocking · 15/12/2011 07:12

I am sooo exhausted I can barely open my eyes, if it's not one it is the other coming in during thenight. Does anyone want to have them til Christmas Eve? Please???

With regard to the pants question, are we all conveniently forgetting the speedos? Hmm

Maud, what awful news for you to receive at any time let alone at Christmas when we expect stories of happy things Sad, you are right in that it serves to remind us how much we have to be grateful for. Thanks

VictorianChristmasVamp · 15/12/2011 07:50

Maud - so many though - horrible. It does seem a shame that the one time of year you tend to be in contact with slightly less close friends is supposed to be a happy joyful one yet with a whole year's worth of news to pass on which will include sometimes very sad news.Sad

But what fabulous news about your friends partner who's in the clear re Hodgkins! Always so good to hear news of people who have battled and won against that dreadful cancer disease.

Anyway....how are we all today?

Where are you Twiggy? Haven't seen you in the academy for a few days I don't think ::really hope I've just forgottenConfused brain is so befuddled at the moment it is possible!Hmm::

That blog is another example of how amazing it is how little people seem to have to do with their lives. I mean imagine as you said Massive spending time of your life discussing/discoursing/imagining scenarios with fictional/imaginary chaRActers!WinkGrin

It's looking pretty wild and stormy out there - hope you all have cosy days ahead! I have to venture out but luckily not too far but I have tiger vampgirlboy's hair cut before the funeral - can't have him looking as scarecrow-like bouffant as he does at the moment!Grin
