, methinks (although I defer to Massive in all matters Gisbornian).
PassTheTwiglets · 20/09/2011 20:13

TwigBoy does a very good version of Badda Romance, as he calls it... fabulous song.

Crikey. Does he know all the lyrics?

::worries about the youth of today and wonders why they no longer sing madrigals::

PassTheTwiglets · 20/09/2011 20:22

No, thank goodness. He just does the "ra ra, ah ah ah" bits. With a pretend microphone :)

The MiniDs know most of the words to the whole of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat because their mother has no taste in music and makes them listen to musical theatre CDs, does that count as a madrigal, Maud?

They are also quite partial to a bit of Lady Gaga - they sing along to the Gizzy vids Blush.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/09/2011 20:36

Ah. I always listen to the Armitagiana through headphones. I too force encourage the entire family to watch musicals but have so far avoided the Lloyd Webber ones. .

PassTheTwiglets · 20/09/2011 20:39

Oh my LORDY, LadyD, can I join them?!?! I HEART JOSEPH!!! Did you ever see it in London? Can't remember if I saw it with Jason or Pip Schofield but it was fabulous anyway. I frequently play one of the my three versions of the soundtrack in the car...

Life is slipping slowly from us, hope's almost gone, it's getting very hard to see us from sideways on..

You know, I've never seen Joseph, but I notice that the next line there is Grovel, grovel, cringe, bow, which (obviosuly) is virtually the same as .

LadyDamerel · 20/09/2011 20:46

I haven't introduced them to the delights that is the Donny Osmond version, our CD is .

They also know quite a bit of Les Mis, Oliver, Cats, Phantom and Chicago so far. ::culture vultures::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/09/2011 20:49

Ah yes. I wanted to use a Jason Donovan vid because of Twiggy's legendary tendre for him but rejected that one because he wasn't in costume (although neither was dear old Donny). The musicals around here are more in the Rodgers and Hammerstein and Lerner and Loewe vein. Guys and Dolls has been the most popular, although The Girl was angling tonight to see Moulin Rouge.

LadyDamerel · 20/09/2011 20:53

Twigs, we saw the touring version with Keith from Any Dream in the summer with the MiniDs and they LOVED it. Their favourite number is One More Angel In Heaven with the Benjamin Calypso a close second. I know the whole thing off by heart having done it as a whole school production when I was teaching.

Les Mis is my favourite, I've seen it about 8 times in various productions and it still makes me cry.

SupermassiveLBD · 20/09/2011 20:56

Goodness, whatever does Girl think Moulin Rouge is about, Maud? A sort of Windy Miller: the Musical?

Just popped in to say i won't be around tonight, RL is looming Sad

LadyDamerel · 20/09/2011 20:57

Guys and Dolls is my No2, Maud - it's a fantastic show. I missed the touring production last year and I was so disappointed. I've only seen amateur versions which, while good, lack a certain something compared to a professional production.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/09/2011 20:57

I didn't like Les Mis when I went ::cough:: years ago, but my dad - who doesn't do theatre - loved it and used to play the soundtrack every day. I wish I had seen Chicago when Ute Lemper was in it. .

LadyDamerel · 20/09/2011 20:58

BAD RL, Massive. We'll miss you. I'll keep Gizzy warm in your absence though

LadyDamerel · 20/09/2011 21:01

I saw Chicago a couple of years back and one of the Osmond brothers (Jimmy?) was the Billy Flynn character. The rest of the company was brilliant but he was decidedly underwhelming, imo.

SupermassiveLBD · 20/09/2011 21:02

Thanks, LadyD, I hardly dared ask, but as you've so nobly offered... Grin

Bitey knight to all, in advance

LadyDamerel · 20/09/2011 21:03

Always happy to take one from Gizzy for the team Massive, you know me.

::self sacrificing emoticon::

(Although going on Gizzy's past record, that may be slightly too close to the mark)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/09/2011 21:04

Oh dear, Massive.

The Girl of course has no idea what Moulin Rouge is about, except that it will be French and have glamorous ladies in it. She has found a website with lots of games for girls on it, including a baking game and then a dressing dollies game (think of an electronic version of those cardboard dollies of yore with paper clothes that you attached with tabs). Anyway, these dress-up dollies include Joan of Arc (truly) and a Moulin Rouge dancer, hence her suggestion for tonight's viewing.

SupermassiveLBD · 20/09/2011 21:10

How tasteful about J of A. Does she come with her own big pile of firewood and stake?

Right, must dash. Night all.

LadyDamerel · 20/09/2011 21:19

Is there a Lady Godiva doll too, Maud?

LadyDamerel · 20/09/2011 21:30

MistressD will have hours of fun on that site, thanks Maud!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/09/2011 21:34

It keeps The Girl amused for hours, although I must say I was rather horrified at the Aung San Suu Kyi doll.

LadyDamerel · 20/09/2011 21:40

Crikey, that's a bit tasteless. What outfits does she have to choose from? What a strange choice.
