WARNING

Don't forget your hard hat, hi-viz gear and parachute. We lost a careless vice-principal this way only last year.

I know that's what I mean Maud. I hate buying then as they seem expensive but by the time you've worn them every day for 2-3 years they are cheap by comparison to a dress you'd only wear once for a wedding or 20 cos I'm a cheapskate!

SupermassiveLBD · 14/11/2011 19:22

Good evening, possums! Dame Edna Maud, I like your glasses, very chic, and they match your hair so well, too.

I have been snorting away at all the talk of buying plastic castles and Gizzys off eBay, big grown women that we are.. I was a bit meh at the set with the galloping horse, though, as it seems to be white, and I would want a Richie.

Gawd help me, I found myself oddly tempted by the pristine in his box unused Gizzy, and I was almost pleased to see the seller would post only to the UK, which seemed to put a stop to that.

But she seems to have changed her mind, as she has had a query from the States. I wonder if it was anyone we know? Grin

::Waves gladiolus aloft::

You realise, don't you, that gladiolus is named after the Latin for sword? So that dear boy Gizzy could be swinging a gladdy around?

::wishes she had Spiro's photoshopping skills::

SupermassiveLBD · 14/11/2011 19:43

Hence gladiator, too, I suppose.

He could wave a gladiolus indeed, but I don't think a pretty flower would make that satisfyingly sinister swoosh a proper sword makes when it's whipped out of its scabbard.

No, probably not, but maybe he'd have had more luck with the fair Marian if he'd presented her with an occasional bouquet. Then again, she was not impressed with his other attempts at gift-giving.

SupermassiveLBD · 14/11/2011 19:51

She did like the horse he gave her, though. Poor Gizzy, you can see him thinking "I sure wish she's stroke my nose like that.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/11/2011 19:53

And what a fine and noble nose it is.

SupermassiveLBD · 14/11/2011 19:56

And eminently strokeable.

Mr Thornton's nose is very nice, too. Funny about that, isn't it?

OP posts:
LadyDamerel · 14/11/2011 19:56

Marian is an ungrateful old baggage and doesn't deserve a single gladioli, never mind a whole bouquet of them. ::gavel::

Although I do have a rather amusing image of Gizzy whipping gladiolus put of his scabbard one at a time in the manner of a holiday camp magician.

I broke my last pair of glasses a long time ago and have been surviving with just contact lenses since then but I really must buy a new pair. I detest glasses shopping though, as I have a very narrow face and all these chunky, square modern frames look beyond dreadful on me.

LadyDamerel · 14/11/2011 20:00

Massive, I forgot to say, I have Richie and S3 Richie in my purchase.

::nods sagely in agreement at fineness of Gizzy's nose::

::and MrT's, clearly::

SupermassiveLBD · 14/11/2011 20:01

I hate glasses shopping too. And as I am blind as a bat without them, I can never see what the new frames are gong to look like, as they haven't got round to the webcam/computer set-up you seem to have over there.

I second your opinion on Marian, LadyD. She's a right cah. No wonder Gizzy is a bit bloody-minded, now and then, the poor lamb.

OP posts:
LadyDamerel · 14/11/2011 20:04

Grin @ a bit bloody minded.

TransylvanianVampiress · 14/11/2011 20:06

Cool so we all wear glasses and all have an admiration for ceRtAin characters - I hope these facts are at all related!!!Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 14/11/2011 20:06

Oh lucky you, LadyD. Two Richies, no less. Have they got fully functional moving parts?

BTW, I came across this earlier on today -- when I was Googling for something else, of course.

That was a long day...school run, work, school meeting, into town for DD's friend's birthday party....zzzzzzzzzzzz!

I may or may not be 'watching' boxed Gizzy - have no idea how I would be able to explain that purchase though - would have to keep him on my desk at work 'for the children to play with' Hmm Grin.

Trust me, no-one could have glasses as hideous as my last pair - roundish wire frames and real glass lenses so v. heavy. I also put off replacing them (for 11 years!) as I mostly wear contacts and really begrudge the expense. I can't get away with cheap and cheerful as my eyesight is appalling and I have to pay extra for the super thin and light lenses or I would like like I had binoculars strapped to my face. However they broke at the start of the hayfever season, and after a week of Stevie Wonder impressions (having to wear my prescription sunglasses in the office as the contacts were so irritating) I had to concede defeat and now have a very cool, purple pair which I don't mind too.

Unfortunately Miss S now has a very similar pair which gets a bit confusing is we leave them in the same place! Confused

Back to our meet-up - who can do next Wednesday? I think the 30th is definitely going to be a no-no as from what I've read on t'internet there's potentially going to be demonstrations and all sorts going on and it could turn into a complete nightmare. I'm up for next week providing work say yes - will hopefully know tomorrow.

TransylvanianVampiress · 14/11/2011 20:07

Argh!!! Blooming thumbs!!!

I hope these fact aren't at all related!!

Started on the wine already. The colonel said he's be early and there's still no sign!! Supper will be ruined I tell you ruined! and for once it won't be Gizzy's fault!! Grin

TransylvanianVampiress · 14/11/2011 20:15

Spiro if I can book kids into after school club I should be able to do next Wednesday. Smile

TheSmallPrint · 14/11/2011 20:30

I don't wear glasses.

TheSmallPrint · 14/11/2011 20:32

I don't wear glasses.

TheSmallPrint · 14/11/2011 20:33

Oops

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/11/2011 20:36

Perhaps if you got some glasses, Small, you'd be able to see the keyboard more clearly?

It's not true that the opposite sex don't like specs.

DumSpiroSpero · 14/11/2011 20:46

BTW Maud your wish is my command1 Grin

BBL...

SupermassiveLBD · 14/11/2011 20:46

And doesn't he look utterly charming in them...

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 14/11/2011 20:48

glasses or goggles?

SupermassiveLBD · 14/11/2011 20:50

{grin] Grin Grin Spiro! He might have done better to have had one of these in his hand, rather than what he did have.

Nice shot of the leather kecks, btw, and no scarf, either.

Just sayin'
