It was Colin Firth vs Peter Firth. Peter won 26-18

Anyway - night night!!!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/08/2011 23:10

Night night, LadyV!

LadyDamerel · 23/08/2011 23:13

Thanks, Maud. It looks good.

I'm giving in and going to bed too.

Night all.

LadyDamerel · 23/08/2011 23:16

Shock. Peter Firth as in Harry from Spooks? He beat Colin Firth?

Noooooo, surely not?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/08/2011 23:17

Yes, I think I might re-read the book in preparation. First time round I had to make myself a list of who was who, to help me follow the plot.

Right, rather than sit here talking to myself yet again I'm going to bed too. Ciao, tutti!

DumSpiroSpero · 24/08/2011 00:30

Well I am sleepless in the sitting room and cannot find Homes from Hell, so am listening to watching HMS Ark Royal with a cup of hot chocolate while writing my shopping list.

The Man is describing the workings of the Harrier Jump Jet - I do wish he'd stop talking about it's 'thrust'...'tis most distRActing Wink.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/08/2011 00:38

::props eyes open with matchsticks::

I am stuck to the sofa with Bloke, watching an Italian film. It sounds fabulous but I must go to bed.

::decides to save the facepalm until morning and hobbles off to bed::

DumSpiroSpero · 24/08/2011 00:41

What can I say Maud...it's late and I'd really like to be asleep. Had to entertain myself somehow...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/08/2011 00:48

::Looks back at you::

I am asleep and am sleep-posting. I am far too old and tired to be thinking about thrusting anything other than a nice cup of cocoa and a discussion of Plato.

A domani!

PassTheTwiglets · 24/08/2011 07:03

Mortning, ladies! Just caught up with your inane witterings discourse for last night and there was lots that amused me. Massive's voiceover, Close Encounters of the Thud Kind, LadyD's fantastic window comment (ha, am pinching that one!), Maud's low-rent Skype, Spiro's jump-jet thrusting... also loved that little flea poem, not heasrd that before! You ladiez do make me giggle :)

Re. Tim Piggy-S, his son is rather yummy, you know. Lovely boy, too, very nice manners.

I think LadyV's poll will have been slightly skewed due to her Twitter following!

Massive, how was SB Major last night? Did you get a better night? Our night was much better - this thing usually takes 2-3 nights to clear up with MissTwigs so I was expecting another Night From Hell, but she slept through, I can't believe it! So am feeling much better today and am planning a day Without Crying :)

Re. the birthday videos - bcc's is the only one I watched and I loved it! Fabulous tune, too. Love the synchronised slapping at the end and the "ovaries explode" bit. Great detail - even the bits where he has some form of headgear on in the split-screen shots. Great stuff.

DumSpiroSpero · 24/08/2011 07:53

Don't talk to me about sleep - it was gone 3am when I finally nodded off. Now have to drag myself & DD round Tesco's before her friend comes at half ten.

Glad Miss Twigs is better. Hope it's good news on the Superboy front too.

PassTheTwiglets · 24/08/2011 08:24

Oh no Spiro, how come 3am, any reason?

We are doing Tesco this morning, too as I have a sudden urge to eat make red velvet cake.

DumSpiroSpero · 24/08/2011 08:37

I've just not been able sleep the last couple of nights, Twigs. Don't know why - am just instantly wide-awake as soon as I switch the light out.

We are not going to Tesco now as I was planning to do the 'big shop' but won't have time before friend gets here. Will pick up a few bits nearby and probably go tomorrow as can go on my own then!

What's red velvet cake like?

TheSmallPrint · 24/08/2011 09:05

Good moaning.

Well I've finally caught up on all the vids. Thank you for mine from party night Twigster Grin. I did enjoy those little Project mag clips as well

Maud, I meant to ask have you seen the new Harry Potter Daniel Radcliffe film. We wouldn't mind your verdict on the N&S costume ripoff his new appearance.

TheSmallPrint · 24/08/2011 09:05

REd velvet cake sounds strange Confused

SupermassiveLBD · 24/08/2011 10:07

Morning all. Grin @ Small's Alo alo ref.

SB Major report, as requested, sah!

Out like a light all night and so was I. Sah!

I lay there for a bii with Gizzy growling in my ear, and i actually dropped off to sleep on him. Oh, the shame! I hope he wasn't too offended.

(No Spiro, not 'on him' in that way, I should be so lucky)

ROFL at the Harrier Jump Jet voice-over. I must give that a whirl when i feel in nee@ of a bit of a lift.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/08/2011 10:11

Morning all!

::Bows low to Twiggoletto::

Thank you for your kind remarks about the outpourings of my twisted mind my urbane wit.

I have indeed seen the new HP film, Small, wot wiv Girl being a big HP fan. To be honest, I don't really 'see' the films - I slump there in a sort of catatonic state - so didn't notice young Mr R's costume, but I recall we had a glimpse in some clip which was posted here weeks ago. I suppose any sort of Cod Victorian morning dress is going to look rather N&S-ish, but, really, none of the imitators stand comparison with the original.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/08/2011 10:15

Oh, and, before I too go out here's the little gift I promised Spiro last night.

DumSpiroSpero · 24/08/2011 10:24

Thank you kindly Maud...and this is for you:

Woman in Black Trailer. DR's new film out next April in which he appears to play a long lost relative of John Thornton.

DumSpiroSpero · 24/08/2011 10:29

And on a completely left-field note, can I ask the Academy your opinion on Cardamom Ice cream?

Am thinking of making it as we've got friends round for dinner on Saturday (to go with poached nectarines & brown sugar meringues) but am wondering if it's bit too much of an acquired taste.

SupermassiveLBD · 24/08/2011 10:34

Oooh, I would love it, Spiro, yum yum, but maybe have some vanilla on standby or some pouring cream in case your guests are meat and two veg types

DumSpiroSpero · 24/08/2011 10:39

Well they go abroad a fair bit and have told me they'll basically eat anything so I can't see it being an issue. Am debating just sending them an email and yelling them what I've got planned tbh. Spoils the surprise factor but less stress, especially as I'm out all day Friday do only have Saturday for prep.

DumSpiroSpero · 24/08/2011 10:40

telling them not yelling at them! Grin

TheSmallPrint · 24/08/2011 13:48

I've never had it but it sounds nice Grin.

I've just been watching a bit of Jack Whitehall, I do find him very funny. I think him and Miranda are my favourite posh comedians. Grin
