I am brain-dead tonight so this is rubbish - just a place-holder. Please do something else if you can think of a decent one!

That looks like fun Maudie.

And the sun of Leicester is quite glorious in his gloriousness. Especially when you zoom him up a bit, oh yes indeedy.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/07/2011 00:13

::goes off to zoom the zoom::

Yes, he is mighty fine and even looks quite clean, for third season Gizzy, who often looks somewhat grubby.

SupermassiveLBD · 10/07/2011 00:13

I wonder why he suddenly changed to the grey, in series 3? Maybe Richie got to be a bit of a prima donna, and they had to let him go.

SupermassiveLBD · 10/07/2011 00:15

Grubby is fine by me, you can then dream dreams of helping him get all nice and clean again

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/07/2011 00:17

Oh, is it not Richie in all three series?

::Extremely unobservant on alal matters equestrian, not being a horsey kind of gel::

This is rather startling

SupermassiveLBD · 10/07/2011 00:29

Oh yes, he's being tortured by demons, there, the poor lamb

.

Gizzy's horse seems to be brown for the great majoiry of the show, but by some stage in the last series, he has acquired a white one. I shall check through the screencaps one day to find out when

SupermassiveLBD · 10/07/2011 00:33

To which end, I had better get some sleep first. Bidding Maud and anyone else still hanging around and this includes you, Mesdames Lurkers, a very good knight. Or a bad one, if such is your preference--

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/07/2011 00:36

Well, I'm orf to bed, so will leave you to soothe Gizzy's tortured soul in whatever manner you consider appropriate. Err, on second thoughts ...

LadyDamerel · 10/07/2011 08:13

Going to be AWOL for a while, I think. My Grandpa is dying so going over to see him. Will catch up soon.

TheSmallPrint · 10/07/2011 09:01

Lady D, so sorry to hear your news Sad, hope you're OK.

TheSmallPrint · 10/07/2011 09:07

For anyone who needs some good cravat and has not seen Potato face version of Persuasion, it's on ITV3 this afternoon around 2.20pm followed by Pride and Prejudice (Keira Knightly version) at 4.30pm.

Just saying.

PassTheTwiglets · 10/07/2011 10:11

Oh LadyD, so sorry to hear about your Grandpa :( How are you bearing up?

Small, thanks for the tip-off about today's telly - I haven't seen the Keira version so would love to see that. Wonder if I can, with the kids around? And I have a bit of a soft spot for Matthre McFadyen (though would he be a good Darcy? Not sure).

Spiro, the link to the highwayman story's latest chapter is here:
The Lady & The Panther

Maud, whereabout in France are you going? I was looking at Biarritz campsite prices yesterday as I haven't been for years and I think I iwll be jealous of my family going this year. Too expensive though :(

That 'sun of Leicester' photo was quite something. S3 Gizzy doesn't usually do it for me but that was yum.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/07/2011 10:19

So sorry, LadyD, to hear about your grandad. And thank you, Small, for the cravat report.

PassTheTwiglets · 10/07/2011 10:19

That reminds me, we did an OB from Leicester years ago. I can't work out when it was but would've been in the mid-90s. We may have been mere yards apart at the time!

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 10/07/2011 12:13

My thoughts, too, are with you, LadyD. My sincerest wishes to you and all your family, and we'll see you back here when you can manage it.

Very un MN-ish hugs.

SupermassiveLBD · 10/07/2011 12:15

I had to smile when I checked out the BBC World teletext this morning and read that scientists had now fully sequenced the DNA of the potato.

I can't think why it took longer to do than the human genome. And what does that say about us?

TheSmallPrint · 10/07/2011 12:36

Grin @ potato DNA.

DumSpiroSpero · 10/07/2011 13:16

Lady D - have missed the boat a bit, but just wanted to say my thoughts are with you and yours also.

DumSpiroSpero · 10/07/2011 13:17

Thanks for the TV tip off Small, haven't seen either of those so they're both going on the V+ box. Just need to hope and pray for and improvement in Mr Spiro's social life so I get the chance to watch them!

Thanks for the link Twigs!

TheSmallPrint · 10/07/2011 16:47

Well I don't care what any of you say, I love potato face in Persuasion so there . I'm waiting to be convinced by Matthew McFadden...

DumSpiroSpero · 10/07/2011 16:47

At last I'm getting the hang of this parenting lark.

DD is shredding all my old paperwork while I drink coffee and Mumsnet - result Grin!

PassTheTwiglets · 10/07/2011 17:10

Doh, it started at 4.15 here, not 4.30 so I missed the first 15 mins. Also feels a bit like watching a school production and the fact that it doesn't finish 'til enarly 7pm means it's out for me :(

I have spent the better part of 5 hours trying to find somewhere to go for a summer holiday and have decided that Cornwall, basically, can f**k right off.

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 10/07/2011 18:04

What's wrong with Cornwall??

PassTheTwiglets · 10/07/2011 18:38

I can't find anywhere to stay in Padstow and I am blaming it on the whole of Cornwall :)

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 10/07/2011 19:56

Padstow is over rated, over crowded and over priced choose somewhere less poncetastic and it will still be lovely! Grin
