Would you like a glass of Chateau Gizzy?

Oh, dear

''Dwarf Thorin to be played by British actor Richard Armitage and likely to be The Hobbit's equivalent of Viggo Mortensen in the heroic man-crumpet department was to have antler-like horns sprouting from his helmet.''
From here

Heroic man-crumpet department Confused

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 10/02/2011 18:49

So this must be another reason for The Hobbit slippage!!!! He can't be in two places at once!!! Filming on SB starts later this month, so I assume it's 3-4 weeks worth max and he is off!!

Ooh er, press conference tomorrow!!

Crikey, you've been assiduous in your studies today.

If TwigBoy is the most beautiful boy in the world, then GardenGirl is the most beautiful girl. Likewise fact. And, Massive, if it helps, it has scarcely been light here today, so overcast and gloomy has it been. Unlike in your tropical paradise.

I really have no opinion on what he's like as a person. I subscribe to the view that an interview is like any other performance and the persona that is portrayed there may be real and authentic or may be a carefully-constructed fiction, we don't know. There are certainly interviews where I have thought that the interviewee is telling the interviewer what they think the interviewer wants to hear, and which of us hasn't done that at some time? (Job interviews and first dates come to mind). Any attempt to get behind that interview persona would be (I think) rather stalkerish and creepy. That's why the object of my affections will also be Mr Thornton and his boring (in Twiggy's sense) gaze. Although I can see why some ladies ::looks meaningfully at Massive:: find Guy passing fair.

This man could bore for England

Fascinating article - need to read it again. I assume the horns thing has been dropped now GDT has departed. Now that would have been very strange. I've not seen Pan's Labyrinth which seems to have got lots of plaudits for GDT (we have a copy of it around here somewhere but I've never got around to it) but I have seen Blade 2 and Hellboy. He seems to like the creature effects...there was weird stuff on both those movies.

I love heroic man-crumpet Grin!

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 10/02/2011 19:01

Give me some heroic man crumpet!!

Now!!

There should have been some inverted commas in there I think (or maybe not).

Pan's Labyrinth - very weird but awesome film. Definitely worth a watch.

SupermassiveLBD · 10/02/2011 19:07

Re the HMC, imagine reading that about yourself in the paper, though...

SupermassiveLBD · 10/02/2011 19:11

Maud, thanks for your thoughtfulness about my home thoughts from abroad nostalgia, but I am not a sun fun person.
Or to paraphrase Britney, Gimme Gloom.

MrsBadenPowell · 10/02/2011 19:12

Precisely, Massive. No wonder his interview performances are so controlled. I expect he takes a can of mace to most of them!

MrsBadenPowell · 10/02/2011 19:13

Oh bugger.

MrsLucasNorth · 10/02/2011 19:17

Imagine his mum reading that Grin!

SupermassiveLBD · 10/02/2011 19:20

Ooops, Mrs BP. You were clearly not following your DH's advice Grin

MrsBadenPowell · 10/02/2011 19:25

What? Scouting for Boys?

SupermassiveLBD · 10/02/2011 19:28

You were a little unprepared when you posted with that name, peut-etre, MrsBP. Or have you changed for good?

MrsBadenPowell · 10/02/2011 19:38

I'll have you know that the Chief Scout is Bear Grylls

::fans self with woggle::

SupermassiveLBD · 10/02/2011 19:47

What has happened to those hats with the pinched crown and the dodgy khaki shorts?

PassTheTwiglets · 10/02/2011 20:03

I am sure I would notice him in a pub! It's that gorgeous-but-unusual faces that get me every time... you can keep your Brad Pitts!

MrsLN, I have often thought he could be a bit of pita with the method acting, too. When he said in an interview about not wanting to wave to some onlookers on set because he was still in character...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/02/2011 20:13

Dear, dear Larry.

::snort::

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 10/02/2011 20:14

I'm out for couple of hours or so - see y'all later!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/02/2011 20:14

Perhaps you could start your own Scout troop on the tropical island, Massive, make yourself Chief Scout and enrol all the coconuts?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/02/2011 20:16

Yes, Twiggy, but that's also the perfect excuse for not going over to sign autographs and be mauled by over-excited fan girls!

MrsLucasNorth · 10/02/2011 20:17

Seriously, can you imagine....with a bloke called Bear?

Would rather have a kitten or a wolf, personally Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/02/2011 20:21

He's actually Edward Michael Grylls, MrsLN. Come to think of it, GardenGirl was at pre-school with a boy called Edward aka Bear.
