Do come in. It's never too late to enrol. We have an extensive programme of rigorous academic study and a never-ending supply of Chateau Gizzy and ratafia biscuits.

So actually, with Outcasts there were three ex-colleagues of the Man in it:

Lexie - from Strike Back
Hermione Norris/Ros - from Spooks
Jamie Bamber - from Ultimate Force (though now much more famous for being in the Battlestar Galactica reboot)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 21:41

Indeed it could, Small, indeed it could! Like an MRI but so much more embarrassing detailed.

I've just had to look up who Jamie Bamber is, as BSG is nowhere on my radar. He was in Hornblower, which The Gardener and I both liked to enjoy. Cough.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 09/02/2011 21:44

By the way, it seems that Season 2 of Ultimate Force is starting to be shown again on Saturdays on ITV4 at 10 pm.

Episode 1 is this Saturday, but I am pretty sure that Mr A doesn't appear till Episode 2 of this series.

Is there a Battlestar Galactica reboot? Egad!

I liked Jamie's uniform there, Maud. Was Hornblower good, then?

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 09/02/2011 21:59

Oh yes, there is a Battlestar Galactica reboot (or rather there was) it has been and gone now, Massive - here's a pic

Very very successful reboot as well, much more successful (and way better) than the original series. It even spawned a sequel Caprica that was much less successful and has just been cancelled after one series.

Caprica....something about it seems strangely familiar...Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 21:59

That was Ioan Gruffudd - who's now a gen-u-ine movie star - as Hornblower. This one is Jamie Bamber.

Well, The Gardener enjoyed Hornblower because he likes Sharpe and all other examples of military-historical derring-do and I enjoyed it because of the scenery and handsome men in naval uniform. It's so old it's probably on your telly, isn't it? (Although I think it was on ITV here so outwith the remit of BBC World).

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 09/02/2011 22:07

Ooh, just noticed that George Gently is on next week on Feb 17th, 9 pm, alibi

AND

Woo hoo! Robin Hood Season 2 is back on the following Saturday on Watch, 8 am, very early but at least it's on..

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 22:09

Thanks, Phoenix and Maud. The old BG was pretty dumb especially by the time we got it here in a faded print and dubbed into the local lingo. (Where am I now? Any suggestions?)

I expect the reason we haven't got it on our telly is the ITV factor, as you say. Shame. I do like military historical derring-do in exactly the same way as you do, Maud. I even enjoyed Master and Commander despite the rather strange accent.

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 22:12

Looks like you lot are in for a positive orgy, then, with all that Armitagiana on telly. I won't be able to get any sense out of you.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 22:16

As I said, Massive, I like the idea of the bedouin tent somewhere in a desert, yashmaks a gogo. Or how about somewhere near the Arctic Circle, with a 'puter powered by solar panels?

::splices the mainbrace::

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 22:23

I could compromise and have a tent near the Artic circle...Maybe a bit chilly though.

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 22:25

I think I shall have a generic tropical island

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 22:26

Ah. Within those parameters .....

::thinks::

..... where does Uthred hang out?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 22:26

Oh dear. I'm lagging behind.

::Adjusts grass skirt and strums ukulele::

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 22:31

Uthred hangs out in Northumberland or Cumbria, when he's not being a slave and what have you. I must visit him again one of these nights, he is rather er, nice.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 09/02/2011 22:36

Sometimes Uhtred hangs out in Wessex...

Has anyone else seen this rather nice manip

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 22:36

Really?

::Practices her Geordie accent::

I still have four discs of Venetia to tremble over.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 22:38

Eek, Phoenix. That looks too much like a shampoo ad for my taste, but chacun a son gout.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 09/02/2011 22:40

That's funny..you know I am not sure whether the hair belongs to him or not...?

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 22:42

That is rather nice, Phoenix. I have seen a cut down version but not the whole thing. I saw someone on a YT vid comment page belly-aching that he should be blond.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 22:43

I think it's the billowing, Phoenix. I was looking for a caption at the bottom for Head and Shoulders - although really that would be more for Guy. Euch.

PassTheTwiglets · 09/02/2011 22:45

ROFL at what I wrote about Porter, LBD!!! :o I consider myself thoroughly touche'd (I knwo that shouldn't have an apostrophe but I don't know how to do the acute accent and 'touched' just looks odd).

Will someone remind us about the RA TV outings on the day? I can't really put it on the calendar :)

Oh Maud, Venetia is to die for! Mind you, I am into Sylvester at the moment - has everyone heard that? He is a wonderful character - not as rrrrroooowwww (I think that's how one spells Roy Orbison's growl?) as Damerel or Lovelace but he's very 'interesting'. I painted the upstairs landing with Sylvester this morning. He wasn't much help though, he kept making my mind wander so I had to get down from the ladder to rewind bits.

Night night!
x

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 22:48

I am starting to get the feeling I must be besotted, liking the long hair and all, when I was so sure I wasn't going to.

That LOTN pic looks as if it's the cold northern wind blowing it about.
I think I better shut up !

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 22:50

Nighty night, Twigs, I bet any flies on your walls had an intresting time today watching you paint Grin

PS re Porter, did you manage?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 22:52

Good night Twiggy!

I think a cool breeze is just what you need, Massive, to stop you becoming overheated!
