I think Naxos are picking from the best Heyer books for RA - Venetia for example is well worth a read as a book in it's own right, and you get to fill in some of the details missed in the abridgement. Unfortunately it seems they don't have him booked for another one at the moment

PassTheTwiglets · 01/01/2011 22:16

I was thinking about reading Venetia, as I'm enjoying the audiobook so much, but I thought there'd be no point what with having heard it all. But I had forgotten that it was abridge so I may well add that to the list of 397 books that I will get around to reading one day.

Excuse me for a few mins, just nipping off for a quick Twirt... #thingsthatsoundrudebutaren't

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 22:18

I must re-read Venetia and the others but there is just so much that I just gotta have that who knows when I'll get round to those.

How are the mails running in the UK? Wondering whether it's safe to start ordering from Amazon again, or if there's a huge back-log still, after the bad weather etc..

Weather's been fairly clear for best part of a week and certainly didn't affect Amazon's internal deliveries. I ordered Sylvester & A Convenient Marriage and arranged replacement of BtS on 20th and had them on 23rd!

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 22:29

That's good news, Mrs LNP. I reckon I will get my orderin' shoes on tomorrow then. DVDs and CDs come separately from books, dont they?

What happened about the second BtS in the end?

Interesting interview here I've read quotes from this before but first time I've seen the whole article. A few bits made me laugh, including the bit about women wanting to give him a hotpot. And he apparently bought hgimself some bright orange trousers as a teenager - obviously getting in training for Dr Crinkles at an early age :)

MrsLucasNorthPole · 01/01/2011 22:39

Have sent it back and asked for a refund. Am not sure whether to try and get another copy elsewhere or not.

There are some rather interesting scenes which I'd happily watch again (...and again and...you get the picture Wink). But given the ending it kind of feels a bit squirmy to enjoy them quite so much, although I think his character is more weak and misguided than out and out bad.

Be interesting to hear what others who've seen it think... Oyster, any thoughts?

PrairieOyster · 01/01/2011 22:42

I haven't yet seen BtS - just select scenes cough

PrairieOyster · 01/01/2011 22:46

That's a great interview and I think the writer is a fan - she's written about him a few times.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 22:47

Now that reporter lady has taste Twiggy.
Oh swoon, I have another thing in common with the Man, no, not the orange trousers, tap dancing to correct turned-in toes. Worked for him, not sure about me Smile

I thought you would have done, Oyster, being such a diligent scholar!

Twigs I love that interview (have read it before but not for a while). He does come across as indecently perfect though, which is not helping my schoolgirl crush at all!

I mean seriously, imagine the ad...

6ft 2, dark haired, blue eyed male, intelligent, spiritual, gsoh, likes music, film, cooking, Argentine tango and DIY and prefers serious relationships to 'putting it about'...(seeks mid-thirties, plump, blonde school secretary willing to trade her husband in for a new model)

I can dream...Grin

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 22:56

Oh, MrsLNP, you are crool Xmas Grin

MrsLucasNorthPole · 01/01/2011 22:57

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 01/01/2011 23:05

LOL at that ad! The 'seeks' part is perhaps a little specific but fair do's :)

PassTheTwiglets · 01/01/2011 23:08

I am off to bed now - have square eyes from staring at screen! Night night, all.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 01/01/2011 23:08

As I said, I can dream!

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 23:09

At least Guy is as much mine as he is anybody's.

Bugger sanity, as Andy Warhol said...

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 23:14

But I am of a delicate constitution, MrsLNP, I can only stand so much!

OP posts:
PrairieOyster · 01/01/2011 23:24

Night night!
