He kissed my hand and is pouring me a glass of Champagne at the moment :) #sadmiddleagedladies

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 18:47

How so, Twigs? Do explain!

I asked him if he was going to have time for anyone except Danni now and he was very keen to assure me otherwise :)

Very nice works Twigs, although I suppose we can now assume JP is not the faithful type...

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 19:08

Perhaps you should all organise a concentrated seduction campaign Xmas Grin

Nice idea, Holly, but I have to remain a good girl on Twitter, sadly :) now what was that you were saying about aliases...? Wink

PassTheTwiglets · 01/01/2011 19:24

Of course Danni will probably hate me now :o

Right, taking DD to bed then will listen to the 35 mins before Chapter 9

PassTheTwiglets · 01/01/2011 20:03

TwitterJP is showing his tattoo now...

Here...

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 20:15

Hee hee the bits around it aren't bad, either, are they?

PassTheTwiglets · 01/01/2011 20:52

Nice biceps, certainly! I don't actually like tattoos at all...

Well I listened to Chaper 9 - lovely! Cor, I would flatten the poor chap if I jumped into his arms from the loft... :)

PrairieOyster · 01/01/2011 21:05

Evening!

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 21:08

Evening, Oyster? Do you like tattoos? I am not mad about them generally but I am prepared to make a few exceptions to my rule...

Twigs, Lord D is a big stong man with biceps I am sure he'd be able for you.

PrairieOyster · 01/01/2011 21:08

Still listening to Venetia, Twiggy? You should get Sylvester too - there are a couple of scenes in that where I am on the floor, every time...

PrairieOyster · 01/01/2011 21:09

I'm with you on tattoos, Teri...cough

PassTheTwiglets · 01/01/2011 21:12

Hi Oyster! Not listening anymore, watching TV now. Is there a Lovelace/Damerel type figure in Sylvester? Not that this should make any difference of course - but let's face it, it does :) I am really enjoying Venetia so Sylvester will be on my list when I think I can get away with it :)

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 21:13

So Sylvester is worth a listen then? I was wondering. I really don't know what to get first. Just won a prize in a lottery too. All of £10! Wink

"Do you call it arrogance when I tell you I love you, and wish to make you my wife?"

Sylvester (or The Wicked Uncle) is well worth a listen - Sylvester is not a libertine-type character like Damerel, but he's still swoon-worthy in RA's hands...!! The heroine, Phoebe is quite an independent and feisty sort of character. It's Heyer of course, so you know it will all end happily, but it's a fun listen (and/or read).

On the cough mother board there is a Georgette Heyer cyber reading group (formed before it was announced that RA was doing these audiobooks) and I've really enjoyed lurking and occasionally commenting there, and I've been reading other Heyer books too. For some reason I completely missed Heyer as a teenager.

PrairieOyster · 01/01/2011 21:41

Review of the Sylvester audiobook on the Austenprose website. In August last year (2010) they did a Georgette Heyer month and reviewed all her books, or at least all the romance ones, worth a read if you are into GH at all, though the reviews may contain spoilers. I've never read a bad review of the audiobook - the worst that can be said is that it's abridged.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 21:45

I read all of the Heyer Regency books I could find years back. They are fun to dip into as relaxation when you are extra busy. Then somehow I forgot about them. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed Venetia but of course it had added oomph.

That review hardly damns with faint praise, does it, Oyster? Grin

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 01/01/2011 21:54

Heyer has always been completely off my radar until now. Are they all quite samey?

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 21:58

A wee bit formulaic, Twiggy. Feisty heroine, arrogant hero, witty banter kind of thing. But fun. And very well written for a light read, I seem to remember that she did lots of research into her period.

And when read by The Voice... well, what's not to like?

OP posts:
PrairieOyster · 01/01/2011 22:07

Funny - I just read the comments on that review and realise that I wrote one !!!! Totally forgot about it...but it was the one about why he reads the abridged versions.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 01/01/2011 22:10

I should imagine reading the unabridged ones is quite a task. What was LOTN? Twelve hours or something? Not that I'm complaining, just thinking about wear and tear on a valuable asset.
