DH gave me an audiobook, because "you seem to be listening to a lot of those at the moment..." Xmas Grin

Ironically, it's Dawn French's new novel!

PassTheTwiglets · 25/12/2010 08:42

ROFL, MrsP!!

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 09:00

Yes I struggled not to ROFL myself!

It's the full version of 'A tiny bit marvellous' and is read by Dawn French so should be good.

He also gave me a silver charm for my bracelet, having said he didn't think we should do presents thus year.

He got a key ring and a bar of fruit & nut - whoops!

Merry Christmas everyone and commiserations to anyone who was awake at silly o'clock.

Err, what type of key ring was it, MrsLNP? Did it perhaps feature one of the nation's Favourite Actors? Xmas Wink

Have a fabulous day, one and all.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 11:22

Merry Christmas one and all! Oh those happy days of ''Has he been yet'' That must be one of the most quoted phrases in history. My lot are too grown-up for the Santa thing, they informed me a while ago. I didn't know whether to celebrate or mourn. But it's sure easier on the sleep patterns.

May I just say again that I hope everyone, faculty members and Chief Research Topic alike, finds the day all they could possibly hope for, with many more such to come.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 11:25

No Missy - it's a stainless steel one with a picture of his fave cartoon character etched on it - so not quite as naff as it sounds.

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 25/12/2010 12:17

I never thought it would be naff, MrsLNP. I just wondered how far your dh would go to indulge your academic interests!

Holly - I am sceptical about whether Offspring Truly Believes. I think she's been smart enough to work out that it's in her interests to keep up the pretence.

Back to the over-indulgence .....

PassTheTwiglets · 25/12/2010 12:18

Cheers!

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 12:37

Salut!..or to quote Marilyn in Gentleman Prefer Blondes...

^There was an old man named Sidney
Who drank til he ruined a kidney
It shrivelled and shrank
But he drank and he drank
He had his fun doing it, didn't he? Xmas Wink

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 12:38

I keep forgetting that bloomin' ^ at the end!!!

OP posts:
Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 12:41

Doing a bit of over-indulgence here too.
Xmas Wink

PassTheTwiglets · 25/12/2010 12:42

DS got dressed up in his nice new clothes and coat this morning. An accidental "mmm, hello Mr Spy Man!" came out of my mouth before I could stop it :o

PassTheTwiglets · 25/12/2010 12:42

Holly, you are in our time zone, near enough, yes?

PassTheTwiglets · 25/12/2010 12:43

DH, not DS!!! LOL!

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 12:49

Had your DH twigged what you're up to yet? I'm guessing he must have done now Xmas Grin!

OP posts:
Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 13:11

Not terribly near GMT Twigs. But we're both on the same day, you and I. Wink

At least you didn't call your DH pretty spy man which would have been even harder to explain.

PassTheTwiglets · 25/12/2010 14:17

He knew about the black shirt but the coat was a secret :)

LOL, Holls, yes, could've been worse :)

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 18:09

Is everyone comatose, then?

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 18:47

Looks like it. How's your day been?

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 18:57

DD had this as her main present which was genius as she roped DH in and it took them about 2 hours to put it together while I had a soak in the bath with my new audiobook! Xmas Smile

OP posts:
Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 18:57

Not too bad. Cooked two dinners, one vegetarian Xmas Sad So knackered.

Spent some quality time with a friend, so to speak Xmas Grin
A clue? Yes And no, I wouldn't go quite that far...

How's Santa's machine holding up to the strain?

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 18:59

Lego is always a good ploy, isn't it? Hours of distracting fun, so you can get on with having your own good times.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 19:50

It was good, although have made up for it since. With it just being the three of us it's a bit relentless but lovely to see her enjoying all her pressies so much.
Off to my olds tomorrow so will be able to relax a bit.

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 25/12/2010 20:10

Well hello, Mr Thornton, how nice to meet you. I look forward to several happy hours in your company :) You too, Lucas from S7.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 20:12

Off-topic but, do any of you watch '24'?

Dh's mate has lent him a boxed set of Season 1, and from what I've seen so far it's horribly misogynistic - or is it me?
