Yay Twiggy! I'm getting S7 tomorrow, and will also be able to pick up replacement BtS and the other 2 Heyer audiobooks.

Now I just need to think of an excuse to not visit my in-laws on Thursday!

Twiggy - I am jealous that you are going to meet Mr T for the first time, savour every minute - it's a top quality production.

Hello, Oyster, Christmas been too much for you?

Twigs, congratulations on your very nice new acquaintances!

I got nothing of that kind, but I still have the rest of LOTN to listen to, I have fallen asleep before getting to it for the last couple of days.

PrairieOyster · 25/12/2010 20:28

MrsLNP - re 24 - we watched the first two series of 24 obsessively but then it lost us in S3. I actually really liked the first series - though haven't watched it again since. I felt the second was not quitenso good. I can't remember details but don't remember S1 being misogynistic particularly. My sister-in-law and her OH who live in the US watched it obsessively to the bitter end.

PrairieOyster · 25/12/2010 20:34

Teri, I'm beat actually - really feeling tired. Need a pick me up of some kind...

PrairieOyster · 25/12/2010 20:38

I still haven't watched Frozen...

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 20:39

Maybe a visit from the doctor, Oyster?

Re 24, I haven't watched it for ages either though I can't quite remember how many series I lasted. I found myself getting annoyed by the cliffhanger endings each time. I began to feel manipulated at first, then sceptical, then annoyed that they got out of seemingly impossible situation so easily. But I didn't notice all that until a few seasons in, I was too caught up in the excitement.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 25/12/2010 20:43
.

Hello again. Glad to hear you've all survived the day.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 25/12/2010 20:45

Ah, 24. The Poet was quite keen for a while but didn't it migrate to Sky like Lost did? I think he gave up at that point (we are not wired for Sky) although I didn't bother after the first few episodes. It stretched my credulity too far - I could (just) cope with the implausibility of Spooks but not 24!

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 20:46

Very festive, Missy. Look, Twiggy's met Mr Thornton.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 25/12/2010 20:53

But, Holly, I have been shoving Mr Thornton under Twiggy's (and everyone else's) nose for the past three months. I do agree, though, that entertaining Mr Thornton in one's own home is an Entirely Different Experience.

What did Santa bring everyone? I am thrilled with my ukulele.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 20:55

All the female characters seem to be weak, dishonest or total bitches and all the violence towards women and rape is just a bit grim. 'Tis interesting though, I must admit, although haven't been watching it consistently.

On a lighter note. Have managed to scrawled a 3rd chapter of Santa's New Toy...

Chapter Three

Nicholas was thrilled with his creation. A brief chat over a glass of Scotch had revealed Harry to be everything he'd hoped for - warm, intelligent, romantic and slightly cheeky.
Mindful of the time, Nicholas called for one of his many assistants and Harry was led to the home cinema room to relax and acclimatise before the long journey he would be completing later that night.

Back in the study, Nicholas selected another disk from the pile. This would be slightly more challenging, he suspected. Loading the disk, he scrolled through the images on screen. Episode 1....no, episode 2....no, episode 3....ah, there it was. Nicholas checked the time again, and realised he'd probably be able to get through the selection process a lot quicker with his wife's help, but frankly he wasn't willing to risk it. It could, he mused to himself, cause complications on so many levels...

The machine had been doing its thing for several minutes by the time Nicholas returned from the bathroom, and he was aghast at what he saw forming in the chamber. He ran as quickly as his stumpy legs would carry him to the control panel, where he realised the screen shot he thought he had loaded had changed. Either side of the console was a tell-tale scattering of paw prints, "Bloody cat!" He exclaimed in a most unfestive manner.

Scrabbling through the hefty instruction manual, Nicholas realised there was nothing he could do to halt or change the process. The only option was damage limitation, and he picked up the phone and dialled the workshop. The reply from Colin the foreman was snappy to say the least.
"I realise you're up to your jingle bells, Colin, but I've had a bit of an incident with the new machine and I need your best hair and costume staff on standby ASAP. It's a big job, so it'll be all hands on deck. With you shortly, Colin..."
At the other end of the phone, Colin harrumphed loudly and the line went dead.

Nicholas returned to the machine where a somewhat agitated man stood, looking for a way out. Nicholas gave him a quick once over and sighed. It could be worse he reflected, as he opened the catch on the chamber door, at least the raw materials were there. "Right matey," he greeted the man, who was looking around quite bewildered, "We're going to give you a bit of a makeover. Now, shall I call you Ralph or John...?"

Ho ho ho, MrsLNP. It's always good to see dear, sweet, doggedly faithful Ralph.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 21:07

Well I was as usual down in the Yuletide dumps as Santa turns pretty inept when he visits our household -- or at least when he fills my stocking. But thanks to MrsLNP I have just had a great present. Loved the idea about the cat, moggies can be relied on to put a spanner in the works, can they not.

A radical haircut and new outfit are in the works then for this young man.

Also loved the idea that Santa didn't want to let his wife help. Spoilsport!

In the words of the Immortal Britney, Gimmee More!

(when you have the time of course, MrsLNP)

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 25/12/2010 21:10

What would you have liked Santa to bring, Holly? Perhaps we could find it for you? (Note that I said what and it, not who and him).

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 21:14

Ah, Missy, how discreet of you.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 25/12/2010 21:16

Well, I thought we probably already knew the who and him.

This has been gift-wrapped and is being Fed-Exed to Limpopoland now.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 21:20

Missy, you know me so well..
Blush Blush Blush at the thought of being so transparent.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 21:21

Did you get anything else that was nice as well as the ukelele, Missy? What about everyone else?

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 21:23

Missy - I have just clicked in your link and promptly choked on my smoked salmon sandwich Xmas Grin!

I'm writing SNT over 12 days so 9 more installments to go, although may struggle tomorrow as my dear mum is likely to lynch me if she sees me on my phone for any length of time!

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 25/12/2010 21:24

Yes, I got some other nice things (am a late convert to the idea of giving The Poet a List, which helps). But my real difficulty is knowing what to ask for, as I feel I have so much Stuff already, so I'd like to hear other people's ideas too.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 21:27

I was supposed to do another chapter of Tansy's adventures today, but couldn't finish it properly due to constant interruptions. Hopefully tomorrow.

re Missy's link, did you enjoy the view, MrsLNP?

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 25/12/2010 21:27

My apologies, MrsLNP. Would you like some twiglets with your sandwich?

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 21:34

As MrHolly doesn't do shopping, lists are not much good to me, Missy. Not that I can't get things for myself. Kidding aside, what I want is impossible I suppose -- I want to be surprised with something I really really want and love.
'Snot fair^
