I don't mind judging selfish pricks.

You have the same vibe as 'No kink shaming including the man walking down the street with a butt plug with a tail hanging off it'

Bring back kink shaming, and casual, unnecessary drug-use shaming.

It wouldn't surprise me if there is much overlap between the 2 groups.

Another AMA thread ruined by people's judgement. Obviously OP isn't coming back now after a pile on. I'm very anti drugs, but I find the holier than thou piling on spoils threads like this and shuts down conversation.

It isn't very interesting though. Loads of people are recreational drug users. It is a bit like saying I drive over the speed limit AMA.

ThatJadeLion · 19/09/2026 12:15

CatrionaBalfour · 19/09/2026 12:09

Right. So you would police AMA? Tell posters not to judge a person such as this?
Go for it.

No, I don't want to police anything! Just pointing out the pattern that closes down conversation nearly every time. People judge and become aggressive. Questions turn into judgement instead. OP goes. Thread over. Predicable every time.

I’ve worked and volunteered for a very long time with vulnerable people many of whom are, or have been, coke addicts. For the best part of a decade. So yes I have insight into it and am also against it. I don’t think that’s a very unusual stance.

Thanks for everything you do. I've seen the impact on vulnerable teenagers running county lines, and it's very distressing.

TwilightAb · 19/09/2026 12:15

Have you heard of cocaethylene? This is produced in your liver when taking cocaine and drining alcohol together. It increases your risk of heart attack, no matter how long you have been taking it.

Aquasoap · 19/09/2026 12:15

Are you proud of it, as if not I can't see your motivation for posting?

I wonder, if someone starts such an AMA what the purpose is, then? Perhaps they just want to talk about it.

Apparently drug taking is far more common than people realise. I have never taken drugs illegally or known anyone take them. I'm semi curious perhaps like others this secret world of drug taking etc.. how to they acquire them, do they hide their habit, what impact does it have on their life. I do find it interesting how people can be extremely judgemental of illegal drugs, yet liberal minded when buying bottles of wine / champagne / prosecco in Sainsbury's (all the same poison).. yet alcohol is the biggest substance killer that creates so many problems in society. I have seen so many lives wrecked due to alcohol use. FWIW I hate it all, but it also doesn't make me want to shut down conversation by personally passing judgement.

🤦‍♀️ Nobody is being killed/raped/groomed/trafficked/forced to smuggle or any other of the other horrific things associated with this drug so that a MNetter can have a glass of cheap prosecco on a Wednesday evening.

She’s sat in her nice safe house, knowing full well that kids and vulnerable people are being tortured just so she can have a sniff. Fuck yes, I’ll be judging her.

JeanSimmons · 19/09/2026 12:16

OtterlyAstounding · 19/09/2026 09:39

Oh, gross.

Why do you use it? What do you get out of it that makes it worth the massive cost in human misery? Have you considered using drugs you could source more ethically?

Don't you understand what addiction is?

Do you like yourself, OP? I don’t think I would if I were a drug user. Do you want to stop and have you tried?

PuppyMonkey · 19/09/2026 12:19

What’s your favourite biscuit?

TheFormerMrsTruelove · 19/09/2026 12:19

JeanSimmons · 19/09/2026 12:16

Don't you understand what addiction is?

How is that relevant? The OP says she’s not addicted, she only does it when she’s drinking and she doesn’t think about it outside of those times.

She’s doing it because she wants to. Not because she’s addicted.

TwilightAb · 19/09/2026 12:24

alltheleavesarebrwn · 19/09/2026 10:02

No I’m not an addict. I can go as long as I want without using it. I use it when I drink, if I don’t drink It’s not even a thought.

But your use has increased as you said and I bet you are doing more lines now than when you started as naturally your tolerance increases as a regular user. Be very careful as you may find it gets more and more difficult to stop as your use increases. I have seen it many many times with any substance.

That's what she tells herself, I suspect.

So her usage has increased over years, she only does it when she’s drinking but never when she’s not under the influence of alcohol, and she’s spending £2600 a year on this habit (on top of whatever she’s spending on alcohol) but she’s not dependent on it? Hmm…

whymadam · 19/09/2026 12:29

Do you use in private / isolation? Because attempting to socially interact with someone who is high is boring as fuck for the rest of us.

ThisHeartySloth · 19/09/2026 12:30

Do you think it makes you appear cooler/ more interesting?

This is an interesting thread and I’ve been there and enjoyed it very much but eventually grew out of it. It’s strange though, just because society has made it illegal, why does it make it bad?

Cannabis was banned for decades but has huge healing Properties and has been reported thousands of time as one of the many cures for cancer. It obviously how many other serious conditions and nowadays it is available on prescription.

Psilocybin or Magic Mushroom’s also have been banned for many decades, but these have been proven to help with mental health issues, serious issues that medicine cannot cure. There’s a huge underground movement calling it plants medicine and it’s helped millions of people recover from depression, anxiety and an endless list.

Of course cocaine is heavily manufactured and the version that we take recreationally is full of poison and other toxins. Let’s not forget it was legal I don’t know 100 years ago and in early 20th century. It was in Coca-Cola and you could buy it in the chemist as it was in many products. It only got banned when people started having fun with it.

Obviously Amsterdam has cannabis and mushrooms as legally Purchaseable items so no one Bats an eyelid in that country. Just because it is illegal mean there is anything wrong with it.

Far more pain, disease, cost to health services and detrimental effects to families and communities comes from alcohol and cigarettes and sugar, all of which are simply taxed to justify keeping them legal.

An adult can choose to do what they want to do he doesn’t mean any drugs are inherently bad or good. What a strange world we live in.

There is no evidence that cannabis cures cancer in humans. None. Cancer Research UK explicitly describes such claims as misleading. Some cannabinoid medicines can help with symptoms (e.g. nausea, pain) but that is very different from curing the cancer itself.

“Alcohol/cigarettes/sugar are harmful too” is also not evidence that other drugs are harmless. It’s just a comparison with other harmful substances. One major difference of course is that these are regulated - production practices, advertising, disclosure of ingredients & side effects; all are dictated by very strict laws. Even if I buy a packet of cold & flu medicine from Boots, there's a little leaflet inside telling me how many it's safe to take in any given time period and what to do if you experience XYZ symptoms after taking it.

No matter how much you trust your dealer, and no matter how much they trust their supplier, you don't know what's actually in it. The only person who really knows is the guy who made it. And absolutely none of them care if you live or die, as long as they get paid. The illegality of these drugs means that they are unregulated mystery substances, and THAT is what makes them so dangerous.

That they are socially acceptable in many middle class circles only adds to that.

Even when people are naive enough to think that their dealer is a trustworthy fellow who cares about his customers health, they can't pretend to be clueless about the harm these substances to does both in their country of origin and in your own local area. Anyone who still chooses to do it with full knowledge of that is, I'm afraid, entirely worthy of judgement.

GCAcademic · 19/09/2026 12:35

Looks like the OP has disappeared because the middle aged mums aren't all falling over themselves to exclaim at how cool and edgy she is.

Newsenmum · 19/09/2026 12:35

alltheleavesarebrwn · 19/09/2026 10:21

No I don’t and I said in that response I have not used it weekly all that time. When I’m using it regularly there’s a week or 2 between uses. That doesn’t mean I constantly use it. There’s times I go months without it.

if I was addicted I’d want it all the time. I don’t. I don’t crave it at all.

If you dont crave it then why do you do it? It’s just destroying your brain and making you annoying to be around.

StormKevin · 19/09/2026 12:36

Does using coke may you think you are more interesting than you really are and hence you have created an AMA as a benefit to wider humanity?

Newsenmum · 19/09/2026 12:36

alltheleavesarebrwn · 19/09/2026 10:04

Yes but it doesn’t really work like that. It’s unlikely they are going to sell something dodgy to a regular

But how would they know if it’s dodgy? Arent there multiple people it goes through? Theyre not all nice and moral are they?

JaniieJones · 19/09/2026 12:37

You use coke weekly?

Aren't you bothered about your face collapsing like Danniella westbrook?

Have you tried NA to get off it?

OtterlyAstounding · 19/09/2026 12:41

JeanSimmons · 19/09/2026 12:16

Don't you understand what addiction is?

Obviously I do, but if I'm to take OP at her word when she says she isn't addicted (and possibly she isn't), then I wonder why she isn't opting for other drugs.
Additionally, if she is addicted it would likely be psychologically not physically, at the frequency she's doing it, and she would potentially be able to replace that psychological addiction with another drug that perhaps could be sourced (slightly) more ethically.

So yes, my questions stand. Has she considered switching to a different drug, and what does she get out of it that makes it worth the huge cost in human misery? (It's possible the answer to the latter could be that she's addicted, but then she should probably face up to that fact if it's the case.)
