I am a Trad wife - ask me anything.

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 20/05/2026 19:07

@BeRedHam the OP flounced after about 9 messages, most just asking what her definition of “tradwife” was and none of the messages were particularly rude or hostile.

TerfOnATrain · 20/05/2026 19:08

“I’m a Trad wife, AMA”

but I won’t answer a thing and just fuck off.

Course you are ….

What were you expecting?

Probs a bit more gushing and envy

You’re quite right.

I’m disappointed at the comments and wont waste my time.

OP: I'm a trad wife, AMA
Mumsnet: Interesting op, how do you define that?
OP: Ok, AMA except that

Hmm
Teainapinkcup · 20/05/2026 19:17

more to the point, most women do the majority of the chores and child care anyway as that is just how it is. We are natural carers. So why do trad wives need to turn it into such a "thing"

houseofisms · 20/05/2026 19:17

What’s a trad wife?

pambeesleyhalpert · 20/05/2026 19:18

Do you have a good bread recipe?? Mine always come out really dense!

Butterme · 20/05/2026 19:20

I didn’t know what a trad wife was and so it’s a shame OP flounced so quickly.

Most people who are ‘proud’ to be something would happily explain in detail.

I guess OP is not as proud as she thinks she is.

Bowies · 20/05/2026 19:24

The questions of definition were quite interesting, assuming from your OP and reaction, you are relatively young (but very flouncy!)

How are your finances set up and is anyone paying into your pension?

If she’s a proper trad wife that is none of her concern. Her husband will set the household finances up, and it isn’t her place to question him.

Horses7 · 20/05/2026 19:28

OP seems to be behaving just like I’d expect a trad wife to behave…. bit sad really.
Would be interested to know the following (but not holding out much hope as it appears she’s flounced off)…
Qualifications
Earning potential/career
H earning potential and career
Childhood experience of trad wife household?

Speakofthedevil · 20/05/2026 19:42

What's your plan when you're in your 40s, not so fresh and pretty anymore, and your Lord and Master trades you in for a younger model? You'll have no education, no work experience, no skills other than cooking and cleaning, no savings, no pension, no property in your name. What are you going to do? Move back in with your parents?

Also, where are you, USA or the UK? UK has some benefits, universal credit and suchlike, there's none in the USA (correct me if I'm wrong). Medicaid maybe? And food coupons/stamps or something like that?

EmailsaysOOO · 20/05/2026 23:02

As far as AMA's go, this must be the world's worst. You should grow a pair, OP!

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 21/05/2026 15:50

I had a few years as a SAHM. There were good reasons at the time. and we all managed on low income later I worked as more hours as health improved and we all lived happily ever after.
I would not think of myself as a trad wife.

That’s because that’s not a trad wife

This really made me laugh.

OriginalPedant · 21/05/2026 15:54

This might be my favourite AMA ever. 😂

Maybe her weird trad husband forbade her from engaging.
