My child was in a S Club Juniors, ask me anything

In 2001, my child auditioned for a CBBC show called ‘S Club Search’ and got a place in a child pop group who initially were meant to support S Club 7 on a one time support gig basis. This band was called S Club Juniors, later known as S Club 8.

The band ended up taking off and we basically had to sign or children away to Simon Fuller’s management to release a single. The kids were given tutors and chaperones, and spent most of their time in hotels (the ones London based stayed either their parents) or on the road. After that, they went on tour and I only saw my child once every couple of months. It was brutal but I knew that’s what they wanted to do.

they released two albums and the second one didn’t do that well, Simon Fuller tried them on a TV show called I Dream, however that also tanked. My child will admit that themselves. They all got dropped when aged 14-17. He said they had grown out of their roles a bit.

Now they are in their late thirties and trying to get back into the entertainment industry fully but it’s difficult. They’ve never quite got over their time in the band. They released music but it never really went anywhere. They would never say so, but it doesn’t help them that two of their fellow band members went on to become big stars, both were in a chart topping girl band and now are TV presenters.

their band (minus the two still-successful members) were meant to reunite for a TV show a long while ago, but for various reasons it didn’t happen. When S Club reunited, S Club juniors didn’t get asked to reunite as there was ‘no call’ for it and only a few were up for reuniting. (My child, and another boy and girl member)

they are still acquaintances with S club 7 and went to Paul Cattermoles funeral.

I know my (now adult) child doesn’t regret the choices they made as a child, but feels sad as an adult.

AMA- child (now adult) is also here to answer questions too and is happy to answer questions about specific members and music!

If it’s fake I’ll be disappointed too but doxxing someone on an internet forum is unacceptable. If it turns out she is making it up then by all means contact members of the band privately to tell them but this forum is public and peoples identity is private even if they’ve lied on the internet.

Not to mention. If it turns out to be a mix up and there’s a reasonable explanation, the potential innocent person you’ve just named may very well have people she knows accuse her of this!

There’s millions of people on the internet named that, you wouldn’t be able to find her plus the link has gone too. I didn’t reveal an instagram name or anything direct.

Don't see why this isn't legit as there is nothing exposing/revealing about any of the members, and everything what OP has said about the industry makes sense.

We also know roughly her age and the fact she’s in some sort of fan club for the band. You also said “might as well out her” proving you know it’s potentially outing especially to people who already know her and put the pieces together.

The account is gone but your post which has her name is still up. If you think nobody would identify her then why bother even posting it? There’s no benefit to you and it comes across like you’re doing it to get back at someone you think has lied to you.

I guess so I’m more bothered about the actual band members and their mums if it’s not real more than us and the stuff we’ve been told as it could be really upsetting for them having fake stuff thrown about, let’s see if it’s still real I still have positive hope!

They’ve deleted their account (I’m pretty sure at least?) as when you go to pm them on mumsnet it says: This user account is no longer active.
so confirmation one way or the other is probably not going to come. But I’m fairly confident (like 100%) that this was a superfan not a mum, I maybe get the whole playing out a fantasy for one of the bands you have nostalgia for from your childhood on ChatGPT or something, it just sucks that it was in such a public way and that I really believed it!

also just for future reference, for everyone, not just cosplayers pretending to be other people. When you share ig links these days it gives a pop up to the account that shared it aka your own, and obv then anyone can see photos, links etc from that account, it’s scary how quickly your private info turns not so private these days and I don’t think everyone knows about the instagram share pop up atm.

The instagram account had no picture no nothing? Where has her age been put up or that’s she’s in a fan club? The poster meant this thread not an actual s club fan club, it was more to say whoever shared it we know it’s from an account with that name, there’s no possible way she’d be found or that she’d be known to anybody or that it’s even a female, I’m not that malicious Christ. The benefit was for them to see that we see and to stop if it is them, no other reason. I think you’re angry at the wrong person, and need to aim it at the one who might have spread many lies. Like I said I’m still positive it is an error and a massive glitch in instagram and until told otherwise it is a mum of an s club junior the instagram account just looked like a bot account in all honestly so I’m confident I’ve not caused any harm

As after being accused of not being genuine the poster has deleted her IG and her profile on here I think we can assume it was all fake, which doesn’t surprise me at all to be honest. It was all pretty weird.

Unless. And this is grasping at straws the mum of the junior or the mum uses a fake instagram account?? I guess we’ll never know unless somebody’s contacts the band directly to confirm

Wouldn’t really explain why, upon being challenged, she deleted her Instagram account and her account on here and hasn’t been back to explain.

I had a weird feeling about it after a while and it just seemed so far fetched that they all, including Frankie & Rochelle, took the time in a group chat to read the thread as the link was posted and answer questions.

Yeah that’s what I thought. A lot of repetition of things like ‘they didn’t like wearing short skirts’ (which is something they could easily have known from an article/interview), and nothing that couldn’t have been guessed. I was laughing at the thought of Frankie and Rochelle bothering to read the thread and answer the OP’s questions on the WhatsApp group.

When it linked through to the ig, I ended up googling the name with s club 8 as I was intrigued as to which mum it could be as a completely different surname to any of the members and the pic was quite young, the top result on Google was a s club 8 fan Facebook page, that listed in the Google results “X liked this” and that fb profile was the same as the ig but listed a birthday that would be impossible as the mum, as it would make them younger than the group.

that and on a reread just some stuff doesn’t ring true think they said pages back that they’d take pictures of stuff from the attic and then just never did, green screen being where the majority of the music video costs went, I’ve worked in video editing so was a bit huh about that, as it’s incredibly cheap to do, even back then, it’s why people use it and thought oh maybe they were just told that, but clearly just someone bs-ing.

That’s detective skills right there! I also found it really odd the mum hadn’t watched the instagram interviews jay did and also that she managed to get information from the members at the most random times and quite quickly considering they’re all very busy people. Somebody will have to update this thread when they know if any band members know about it!
again clasping at straws but what if mum and junior have that fake account to keep up to date with fan stuff and because you managed to track the instagram account being used they were scared you could possibly track a location or more personal information so deleted everything? Highly unlikely but it crossed my mind

This is so weird. What a bizarre thing to make up. She could have at least gone for something less Z list!

Honestly, I think the band have long moved on from it. They are grown up, most have careers, partners and children and realistically, I doubt they think about their junior days much any more.

The fact that they all seemed so enthusiastic is partly what made me start doubting. Several had distanced themselves from it even and I'm not convinced it's simply because they were told to by 'management'.
