As title! I’d love to be earning £500,000 or £870,001 but that’s life!

Could your dog get a job as a Police dog or a guard dog? It's never too late to change careers.

We’ve had so many rows about it. He treats me like absolute shit sometimes. Eats his meal, walks off & leaves the plate just sat there on the floor for me to pick up. I do all the childcare, mental load, school pick ups etc.

But then I wonder, am I asking too much? Like, AIBU?

Find your anger OP and LTB!

Suppose you have to choose between eating and heating which one would you go for?

Eating. We go to the library to keep warm. Well, we used to, the LA have shut it now due to funding.

Have you thought about asking your dog to take in some ironing?

He’s so much better now after the affair. We’re stronger than ever actually.

I know I shouldn’t & I only did it because he passed me his phone to search for something but I did see he’d recently been on Plenty of Dogs but I spoke to him & he said it must’ve just been there from ages ago so all good.

Can you tell us your job and your dog’s family background or will that be too outing?

I did ask him but he snapped at me & said I was nagging & nitpicking so I left it.

How many jobs do you have to earn that much?!

My dog is from Wigan (I can name change later). I think his mum was a Shih Tzu & his dad was too.

I can’t say my job, it’s too outing but it’s a very common job. Wage is £13,001.

He can’t really. He’d fall asleep guarding anything & he has really bad halitosis so Police Dog is out as he’d make the criminals feel really uncomfortable.

He’s unfortunately never had a job & now at 12 he’s retiring (from having no job).

Does your dog have a hobby that takes him away for hours? But you can't say because it's outing

mummybongo · 22/03/2024 23:06

Get your dog to do some dog walking (or cat-sitting?). Some people will spend crazy money on their pets - that would help contribute to your bills plus it would save you time having to walk your own dog too.

Best thread of the year so far!!!

OP - you only work 20 hours. Have you considered becoming an influencer on social media with the rest of your time? Or is the dog too controlling and insecure to allow you too try that? X

Maybe dogging?

Yes he does! Can’t say too much but he’s out every weekend. Leaving me & my DD ALL alone. It’s very hard for me having to entertain her all.by.myself.

I might ask him to leave when my DD has gone to uni.

Unless she takes after me & doesn’t go.

Do you receive anything ( maintenance) from your child’s dad ( as you should and if not, why not!), what benefits are you able to claim. Do you own, privately rent, mortgage, social rent your home and do you get any benefits to help with that housing cost. Does your income level mean you get help with dental costs, do you get free prescriptions or school meals ? How much do you have to pay for child care while you work? If you calculate it, would you actually be better off with a salary of £50k pa (after tax, uni loan repayment. child care, housing benefit, free dental/prescription, mandatory pension contribution etc etc and anything you receive from your child’s dad)?

I don’t think he would allow it. I would love to do this. He already doesn’t like some of my outfits & says they’re too revealing so I don’t want to rock the boat really.

He said he might be an influencer though while I look after my DD.

I don’t claim a single benefit. I get £96 child one that’s it!

Are your children allowed to say the word toilet?

mummybongo · 22/03/2024 23:15

Or if childcare is the issue, the dog needs to step up and take more responsibility for your child. Surely the dog should be doing more of the school pickups which would mean you can increase your hours?

I do get maintenance (less than the calculator suggests) but I don’t claim any benefits.

No child care now as my DD is at school. I live extremely frugally. I have also saved & done without so my wage covers what I need.

I own my house so no rent/mortgage. It’s a tiny house but it’s lovely nonetheless.

I like your sense of humour OP. Your thread is much more entertaining than the £500k PA one .

You are also very polite . I would have just told @Station11 to fuck off .

But someone earning £500,000 can only do so because so many others are earning much less. The surplus the lower earners are not paid allows the higher earners to earn more. That’s how the economy works.
