So whist talking to a random mum at soft play she was surprised at our “big family” 9 children (full time custody of 3 step children) l. Never thought of us as a big family lol but ask away

Nowt to ask.
I have more biological dc!!

Bootsandcat · 09/08/2022 13:43

How do you afford so many kids? What are their ages? Do they all mostly get along?

bloodyunicorns · 09/08/2022 13:43

You really never thought of 9 kids as a big family?

Ookkaaaaay.

Did you think of the impact on the planet of having so many dc?

MolliciousIntent · 09/08/2022 13:43

How do you make sure your children have enough space, privacy and attention?

AssaMarra · 09/08/2022 13:44

Of course 9 children is a big family...
Do you know lots and lots of families with more children? isn't the average 2 children?
Anyway, I come from a biggish family and it was a great experience as a child but even better as an adult. What is the age range of your children?

Louise0701 · 09/08/2022 13:45

What’s the age range? Are you planning any more?

DesMoulinsRouge · 09/08/2022 13:46

Do you have a car? Do you all go out together?
How often is your washing machine on?

Tabbouleh · 09/08/2022 13:46

Why?

inmyslippers · 09/08/2022 13:46

How much individual attention does each child get a day

MumChats · 09/08/2022 13:49

Why would you not think that having 9 kids is a big family?

Devonmum2022 · 09/08/2022 13:55

My 3 step children we took full custody of after getting together as their mum was finding it tough and we’re about to go into care. Their ages are 17,16,15,12,12,8,4,3 and 5 months (born 25 weeks unknown pregnancy). We have 9 seater and 7 seater cars and both of us work (husband has big building company and I’m a ta). Guess because I went from 4 to 7 so quick I never saw it as big. The children all get individual attention each day with me less so their dad T moment as he works 14 hour days. We go out almost every day and they mostly get on although def some closer than others and no after my experience with baby DEFINITELY NEVER AGAIN

That is a large family, especially these days.

My Mum was one of 12 (oldest died as a baby so grew up with 11) she had to help out a lot with younger siblings as the oldest girl. I am 51 so not young- obviously things were quite traditional when Mum was a 12 year old for example- girls did the helping.

BeanieTeen · 09/08/2022 14:01

What kind of house do you live in?
Is it situated under a rock for you to not realise your family is significantly larger than others?

Devonmum2022 · 09/08/2022 14:09

Ok that was probably bad wording more not something I think about my only regret for them is the privacy our house isn’t huge and although my husband build little bed pods i wish they had their own rooms but obv know that not realistic

Do you never think it’s quite selfish to your kids and the planet?

shehesmesloos · 09/08/2022 14:19

Why so many kids? Did you not think the first 2/3 needed enough attention, so you thought it wise to spread it even more thinly?

FilePhoto · 09/08/2022 14:22

Wow that's a lot! Do you want 2 more? (17 and 15)Grin

How strict are you? Does everyone have chores? Do you get sick of having so much cooking to do?

I hope your youngest is doing well. Must have been a shock!!!

JudgeRindersMinder · 09/08/2022 14:23

Some unnecessarily snarky comments!!

Do you live in organised chaos or are you really organised?

Givemeallthegin8 · 09/08/2022 14:25

you say you give all children individual attention each day . How? If your working how do you fit time in with dinners , homework, baths, housework etc ?
I have two , work part time ( term time only ) and between the children’s activities and all I mentioned above , I don’t think I give daily individual attention- apart from bedtime

AnneLovesGilbert · 09/08/2022 14:28

Does their mum pay maintenance?

How many bedrooms do you have?

Do you go away on holiday?

How much do the older ones get involved in caring for the younger ones?

How many loves of bread do you use a week?

Pootles34 · 09/08/2022 14:29

Where do you put all their toys/crap?! Genuine question, I have two and there's not enough room!

SmartCar · 09/08/2022 14:32

How many bedrooms do you have?
Do they all chip in with chores? Well the ones old enough anyway.

I'd love a huge family though don't know how it would practically work

@shehesmesloos OP explained she had 4 children and they then took custody of her 3 step children as their mother was about to put them in care. She hasn’t actually chosen to birth 9 children.

That makes 7. OP says she has 9.
