Anticipating the most common one : yes I am aware this is a parenting website, I signed up to MN because over the last 10 years everything I googled - fashion/ consumer stuff had a thread about it on here!

What is there to ask?

DontWantToAdult · 11/07/2020 15:04

How odd

Prettybluepigeons · 11/07/2020 15:06

What do you want people to ask? your childlessness doesn't make you interesting.

Any idea what tonight's lottery numbers are?

FlibbertyGiblets · 11/07/2020 15:08

That's nice, dear. Smile

4amWitchingHour · 11/07/2020 15:45

Why are people so fucking rude on AMA threads? Some people may well want to ask a question - if you're not interested, don't click! Go and be a twat in your real life rather than online.

UncertainFuture · 11/07/2020 15:47

How do you know you don't want children? I know that sounds a bit goady but it's a genuine question, I'm curious how people know they don't want them.

UncertainFuture · 11/07/2020 15:48

Also are you worried about being lonely in your older years?

alwje19282 · 11/07/2020 15:51

How old are you?

Hileni · 11/07/2020 16:03

Why?

slashlover · 11/07/2020 16:17

Are you aware that 18% of British women don't have children at the age of 45? I'm 42 and loads of my friends don't have/want kids.

OneMoreLight · 11/07/2020 16:21

I don't either.

RoseyLentil · 11/07/2020 16:28

At what age did you know you didn't want one/them?

Heyhih3 · 11/07/2020 16:36

Hi OP. How old are you? What has made you come to to this decision? A few of my friends swore at school they didn’t want children 2 of them now have a child but they are adamant they won’t be having anymore.

BendyLikeBeckham · 11/07/2020 16:37

yeah, and? Hmm

I think there comes a time and you will be more interested in babies and then you start to think naturally you would like to be a mum. This is how it was for me anyway. I guess it’s different for everyone.
TeaStory · 11/07/2020 16:41

I don’t want children and never have, in much the same way that someone might ‘just know’ that they don’t want to own a horse.

peakygal · 11/07/2020 16:43

I bet you get harassed regularly over it too. About how all females want to be mothers and what is wrong with you whilst looking at you like you've got 3 heads 😒

TeaStory · 11/07/2020 16:56

Funny how when someone says they want children, no matter their age or situation, no-one questions that desire. Yet people who don’t want children are consistently disbelieved.

TeaStory · 11/07/2020 16:59

Actually, it’s particularly women that are disbelieved.

MrDarcysMa · 11/07/2020 17:09

Lol @ some of these responses. Of course I don't think I'm unique or special. Like a lot of posters on this thread..... But I get a LOT of people quizzing me about this IRL.

Not goady at all. I just don't have any maternal instinct. I'm good with little ones and they seem to like me but the thought of being a parent myself gives me the willies.
I don't like the thought of childbirth.
I've never had the 'urge'.
I don't think it looks like something I want to do.

Not really. Im not that close to my parents and live quite far from them so its never crossed my mind in that way.
I'm very sociable with lots of friends- I assume/ hope I'll keep this up into my twilight years. I also have a partner so hoping he'll be around !

I didn't want children either but here I am at 47 with a 5 year old and I wouldn't change it for the world. But it is a bloody hard slog, if I hadn't have got pregnant, I doubt I would have felt like I was missing out.
