I am bored silly, have been for months. I am here to answer anything, so please, fire away!

Same, working out my notice. Bored!

It's not good is it! I wish I had another job and was working notice. There is nothing to do, despite offering. I do about 40 mins work a day on average.

What is your job?!

I had a job like that once, and for the NHS equivalent (different country). It was souls destroying and made worse by how stretched and busy other departments were. Actually detrimental to your mental health

How on earth do these ‘jobs’ exist? Are you private or public sector?

Reception based job?

Yeah it's only a small company, I offer to do other stuff but there's nothing much to do. I do feel my mental health is suffering yes, I watch the clock all day!

The money is ok that's the only reason I stick at it. It used to be busier but it's got worse and worse....I sometimes watch tv on my phone, not much else to do here!

Any TV recommendations would be great! Thank god for netflix

As a small business owner, I am wondering how they can justify this job and afford to pay you??

They have whittled it down, this time last year there were 4 of us sat there doing nothing. Others have left.

I do offer, and offer but never get taken up on it, to help.

I had a job like this, it was soooooooooooooo boring, my colleague used to shut the office door and sleep at lunchbreak. It's soul destroying long term, can you do a bit of cleaning or something just to keep your brain active. I wouldn't stay in a job like that again but just take the money, can you take up knitting or something!

Why don't you use the time to do some kind of online training course so you can find a better job?

That's not a bad idea, not sure what course I could do though that doesn't cost money!

Futurelearn have free online courses in all sorts of subjects that might keep you motivated.

Do you have to act busy in front of your bosses?

Same and I’m hungover. Was hoping for a busy day, so that I’d be so busy I wouldn’t notice and just power through. That’s not happened.

Why don't you use the time to learn a language from the BBC website. I use my slow times to improve my excel formula and dashboard knowledge, but I'm quite geeky 😆

I find it so hard to understand how the business owners can let this happen , are they genuinely aware that you have nothing to do? Have you asked for more work, feedback on what you do etc?

Oh Can totally relate to this, prior my current job, I never had a job which actually kept me busy and I reckon 75% of my time was sitting around doing nothing!

I've said I'm quiet and can I help with other stuff, they don't give me anything. My boss isn't quite aware of how quiet things are.

I just put the TV on my pc and plug in my headphones most of the day... I got through a box set last week.

I think it's about 80% doing nothing, 20% working
